My friends a programmer .. he sits at the computer and mumbles and talks to himself a lot

I also noticed he has a tendency to "point" at the screen too .. kinda weird.

Only point at the screen? I've been a programmer for 30 years and have seen frustrated coders actually assault the monitor, smacking it on the side when it fails to do what it was supposed to to the point where the monitor falls off the table. This leads to the late-night trip through the building with a chair to locate an unsuspecting replacement.

This made me laugh out loud... hard... which is odd, because I'm home alone. ~grin~

I am *so* guilty of this. I'm constantly having to clean my monitor because it has fingerprints on it where I've been pointing at something. I think it's an subconscious "lost in thought" kind of thing.

And, yes, I do mumble to myself a lot too... usually calling myself a dumbass for some stupid code error, or laughing at myself, for a stupid programming error.

It's probably a disease.

I also chat to myself a lot, i been called in to the office cos it looks like i chatting to much to customers, where i not i lipping what i thinking. Good job i dont think anything nasty when i working or i whold get the boot if someone lip reads me...

I always poiting at the lotto matching in work, but then again it tuch screen so you got to :P

I do a lot of that as well on other things...

Or you can get a tuch screen so you have a reason for doing it :P
