SPIEL - I salute you

But, unfortunately, I must do it from afar.

I have been banned for 72 hours for the following:

Q u o t e:
If Blizzard starts placing ads in the game I will stop playing.
I can't stand seeing them every time I try to watch television or view web pages, and I especially can't stand people calling my daily trying to sell me crap, I definitely won't stand for it during my leisure activities.

Wave of the future, my friend. Why, it opens up a whole new panorama of potential activities. Fruit hooves. Troll Bait Soup - yum , can't wait for Campbell's to figure out how to get a gnome in a can.

Blizzard needs to watch itself. Congress has TWICE tried to tax in-game gold and transactions. By allowing a mixture of fantasy and real-world, Blizzard is opening itself up to the tax man.

Sometimes I wonder if Heinlein was wrong when he said "A committee is a life form with 8 or more legs and no brain." It seems to apply quite well to WoW's management.
"

I'm not sure if it was the reference to WoW management's apparent stupidity, or if it was the reference to in-game taxation.

I'm the "pig's can't dance" poster, by the way. Sorry I have to leave that discussion.

OMG... I love you.

I've laughed twice since about 5pm last night... that was one of them.

And I have to say your statements were some of the most lucid I've seen in the last 24 hours... thanks for the support.

LOL - I outclevered myself, though. I started a character on Kargath named Saavedra, ran to Kharanos just to send you an email of support, and didn't have 39 copper =P

I believe I have some new insight. Microsoft will be "offering" player-targeted in-game ads in world of warcraft.

http://www.insidetech.com/news/artic...blizzard-games

In order to have an exclusive with MS, you've gotta go. That is why their post is so devoid of life - they CAN'T tell you why or they'd face a full on mutiny.

The really sad part is that Congress has tried twice in the last two years (Chris Dodd on both of the bills) to enable taxation of in-game "assets". I think Blizzard, bless their pointy little heads (how do they keep their ears from slamming together, I wonder?) is opening the floodgates to Pandora's box (to mess my mixaphors a bit). This is one of the most stupidly self-defeating actions in a long line of corporate insanities I've ever seen.

Are they really that incapable of seeing past their own noses? I'd have said pocketbooks, but this is going to smack them hard in that area - the backlash will be that anyone that falls under any tax authority (and the precedent will be set internationally by the US) will have their Aunt Daisy's petunias taxed off. And that will kill WoW. The funny thing is it won't be the grind, the graphics, the content or the abortion of an interface. It will be Taxes. Followed closely by Death.

Uh, if I understand that article correctly, all it's saying is that when you use the new Battle.Net to log into wow, you'll be subject to ads. Well, they've always had ads there(though usually Blizzard products..), so I don't see the issue. If it's billboards in-game that say stuff about Windows, there's a big problem with that.

It really does say they have a right to place dynamic ads IN game, however, Blizzard's official stance on this has been that they have the right, but they have an agreement to not place them in game. I'll link to a post on official Blizzard forums for my source and common misinformation spreading (I was one of them who helped spread this info, before I kept digging and found the official Blizzard statement)..
