nUI+ Framerate Issue

Tried that but there was no way to check. I had only the chat windows and what appeared to be a great big distorted mimimap across the whole screen. No unitframes or miromenu to check framerates on.

Hmmm... forgot the FPS meter wasn't in the nUI6 alpha... but I would not have expected the minimap to stretch across the screen if you didn't have any other mods installed.

Okay... guess we'll have to wait on that test.

Seems that you have disable nUI5. At the Moment you have to run both: nUI5 and nUI6, because nUI6 only disable some of the nUI5 function and replace them. nUI6 isn't a standalone addon atm.

I see this bug with the Minimap too, So I think this is it. Maybe you have disable it without to know. That's what happend to me.

Disabling nUI 5 was deliberate - Scott asked that it be done, attempting to see if todd's frame rate improved with just nUI 6 installed. But that will have to wait until the FR meter is implemented in 6.

I love this thread, but I have ran into the same issue. I previously raided with a 30-40 fps with a standing framerate solo with 60 fps. With just nUI6 downloaded I have a framerate near starting at 40 solo and dropping down to almost 5 when in any raid larger than 15. In ICC I am at 2fps and while in BG's I hover around 10-15fps. I love the nUI and everything it has to offer, but a 20fps drop makes it extremely difficult to raid or BG effectively. I had to bow out of ICC 25 last week due to the extreme difficulty I had manuevering while healing. Have we found the reason for the drop yet? I am going to try the party switch tonight, and will also follow the rest of the recommendations, but if it stays around 10-15 I will have to drop nUI which will make me very sad.

I have the most current version of nUI+ oddly enough my curse downloader keeps telling me it's not current with the most current beta release even though I have redownloaded it today.

How are you getting a frame rate with just nUI6 downloaded? nUI6 does not have an FPS meter in it. Are you sure you're using the nUI6 and not nUI+ (which does have an FPS meter)

You cannot download nUI6 with the Curse updater. Manually download nUI6 from here at Wow Interface.

I have just nUIplus downloaded. Am I supposed to download both the nUI6 core and nUI plus? I was under the impression only plus was needed.

I turned off the shadows, and ended up raiding with a 6-9fps regardless of what raid was showing. I dislike having to turn off all my add-ons or having to turn down every single visual in order to pvp or raid in anything over 10man effectively 9fps is still about 20 below what I normally run at without nUI. I don't want to stop using it, just figure out a way not to have it suck my FPS out the shoot.

The nUI6 version is being developed to try and fix the frame rate problem that you're describing in nUI5. Try downloading nUI6 along with nUI+ (enable both addons) and see if your frame rate improves.

(note: while nUI6 Alpha is enabled, some nUI5 features will not work until I can get them into the alpha version)

I will give it a try, but I seem to run into the issue of whenever I download nUI Core after I download plus it overrides plus and I don't get the extras. I downloaded nUI+ and then downloaded nUI core as I assume when you say download nUI6 that's what you mean. Unfortunately now I have nUI lite, and yes my framerates jumped to 50-60fps outside of a raid. yeah I can raid effectively with the lite version, but with the plus version I run into numerous fps issues.

Are you using the curse client or some such? If so, try downloading manually.

Nobody said anything about nUI Core.

Look in the "nUI+ Full Version" download area... there is one link there for "nUI+ (Release)" and another for "nUI6 Alpha" -- those are the two versions I am talking about installing together.

And you should be manually installing both. You cannot use Minion or the Curse Client with nUI+ (or the nUI6 Alpha) release.

spiel, I apologize, I am as dense as could be I assumed you were meaning nUI core as 6 alpha. Thanks for your patience I will give it a try.

It's all good... I realized you were confused about versions which is why I was as direct as I was... just to be sure all confusion was cleared up.

The current flavor of nUI is nUI5 (a la 5.06.29) while I am working on developing the next flavor of nUI... aka nUI6.

The "Alpha" designation means that is it early production code, incomplete and likely contains lots of errors. The next level of refinement is "Beta" code which is a term you are probably familiar with and means that the code should be fairly stable and complete but probably still contains errors and may still be subject to changes in features. The final level is "release" which generally means it is stable production code.

nUI6 is *very* early in the game, so it's pure Alpha code. At present the only features in it are unit frames and some minimap functionality. That said, the unit frames are the part of nUI5 that appear to be the root cause (not the only one though) of the frame rate leak bug some people have issues with. The first nUI6 alpha is testing to see if the new unit frames have fixed (or at least improved) that problem for the people who have the FPS leak problem.

Since it's clear you have that bug in nUI5, I'm curious to see if adding the nUI6 Alpha to your existing nUI5 install helps improve your frame rate or not... thus the request for you to install it.

Be warned though, once you have been playing with nUI6 for a while, you find you like it alot

I turned it off yesterday for some testing and forgot to reset it for my raid last night. I had to delay the raid so that I could reactivate it. Being main healer has its benefits

1. It does increase my framerate by about 10fps or so depending on the graphics intensity.
2. It has made me realise that although the aura bars are informative they sure take up a hell of a lot of space Can't wait for the new white/black list comes into play with the new aura bars

Okay doing ToC 25 with the nUI 6 and nUIplus. Still have major spikes in fps, but not down to 1-3 fps more like 7-15 fps which is much better than before. There are some odd pauses occasionally where the screeen actually freezes and my fps drops from 60-40 than goes back up after 2-3 seconds. In raid the pauses don't happen much once it did. But mostly I hover between 7-12 fps which is still pretty bad, but nowhere close to how bad it was previously. I think I am going to stick with lite till the plus is fixed.

I love the new raid ui's though much much cleaner.

I had quit using Nui+ for the FPS issues. Happy to know Nui6 is aiming to fix that. I'm going to see if i can try it again and use the plus vers and the alpha.

Just a small headsup, but I think Spiel won't bring out any updates for nUI6 for Lich king, only for Cata.

Since some stuff is missing from the alpha it might not feel as complete..
