Here's a fairly detailed report with several screen shots.

I play Horde on the Sentinel server, I run a custom built computer with an AMD processor, and an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT video card. There are only two areas where this happens to me that I have noticed. The first is Uldum, where you first port in when taking the port from Orgrimmar. I have attached pictures on my DK as well as my shadow priest. the results of the glitch are different for the toons. On my DK it is only the weapon runes that are being displaced. this is not the only place in the zone this is happening, but to list them all would take too long and you said you didn't want all that. One thing I find confusing about the displacement issue with the viewport is if I simply change my view or rotate my character it looks normal as if nothing is broken. I have also attached pictures of this.

the second notable area the viewport is glitching is in the throne of the tides instance, the five player dungeon. this time it is the whole instance that this problem exists and also the same thing where if I simply change my view or rotate my character in certain places, like the entrance where you initially port into, I see everything "normally". I have attached several pictures to this effect.

I have not done any raids yet as I had taken a break from wow and am only now playing again, so I don't know if this happens in raid zones.

one other thing I'd like to say here is that when I type the /nui viewport command, it always displays the message that viewport has been disabled, even when I know it is Enabling it.

the consistent aspect is that when I disable the viewport these problems do not happen. I have taken a couple pictures where I have my UI hidden so you can see I have disabled the viewport and enabled it. hope this helps.

Just want to say also, love the UI and hope the work with the viewport gets resolved quickly so you can stop stressing over it. I appreciate the hard work you put into this and thank you for creating this wonderful addon.

More from Uldum

Greetings, and thanks!

I have snagged a few shots in Uldum, the location of which is shown in the minimap. The first shows a view of the lake from the air with the viewport enabled, the next shows the same view with the viewport disabled. For some reason, I have to enter the /nui viewport command twice to have it change, but no biggie. I've also included a couple of other shot taken from inside the building that should show the glitch with the viewport enabled, with the effect depending on the camera compass heading. In the one where the character is facing the king, note the displacement of the fire in the braziers, the missing rug, and the ghost effect on his staff, which is shown in it's correct location, along with a ghost image lower, looks the same distance to me as the offset on the fire graphic. Same angle, rotated roughly 90 degrees right, and the offsets disappear on the fire, the rug comes back, and the staff loses the lower ghost glow effect. For what this may be worth, the glitch for the most part also happens, regardless of compass heading, when the camera is rotated upwards. There is a certain angle where the offsets happen as well. This is easy to duplicate, just pop in there and fiddle with things, I am sure it will be there with the viewport enabled.

All problems disappear with the viewport disabled. There are a few other areas I have noted this, sorry, no screenies there, but, the Throne of Tides is an utter nightmare when I forget to disable, as is that one in Uldum with the vortex hopping.

Report from Throne of Tides

K. Scott,
I was experiencing this issue earlier this week and just tonight actually. It happened in the exact same place, the Throne of Tides instance (regular). The issue I was seeing was my character running just about completely underground, just the top of his head & the nametag above the ground. It was the exact same both times.

I’m sorry to say I didn’t have this e-mail available to me when it was happening so I wasn’t able to turn the viewports off and back on to verify it. Anyway it starts happening right as you run down the first hallway and then in a bunch of different places throughout the instance. I would try to get in there by myself and test it out but honestly I just started playing and don’t know where the instance entrance is. I do know that I have viewports enabled

I’m playing an undead rogue on an IBM clone with Windows7 Ultimate and an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS video card. If I get a chance to get back into the instance I will make sure to take a screen shot and send it to you.

Sorry I couldn’t get you everything you needed and thanks again for the great UI.

Another shadow priest walking in the ground...

This one is interesting Scott.... it only happens when I'm in shadowform. When I drop shadow form I pop above ground....

Throne of Tides report...

Mr. Piel,

In response to your viewport bug request, I do happen to have a specific place for you; The Throne of Tides. I ran the instance last night with some friends and noticed very odd video anomalies, the most glaring of which was on my Frostscythe of Lord Ahune; the icy effect on the blade appeared to be floating down near my calves rather than along the blade where it should have been. A guildmate of mine had a similar glitch. I don't know what weapon he was using, but it was a 1H axe with a fiery effect and it was doing the same thing; floating down near his feet as I looked at him, rather than being on the weapon. In both cases, no matter where we were, how we were moving, or how many screen reloads happened through the course of the instance, the anomaly didn't go away until after we left the dungeon completely.

Okies... that's all I've got. I'll not add any more unless someone comes up with something new.

I only saw an issue with the first image in this set (Mac set). Where should I be looking in the other images?

I'm not using nUI, but I use SunnArt Viewport which I'm assuming is the same sort of code you use in nUI's viewport. So I've posted up some screenshots. My dual-screen layout illustrates the bug in a much more obvious fashion so hopefully this will help the devs out in fixing this issue. I can honestly say that since I hop two monitors, this bug literally makes Throne of Tides unplayable, as my "focal point" (center of the screen) is smack dab in the middle of the two monitors - making the monitor bevels split the screen so unnaturally that I can't make head from tails where I'm standing or going.

I've uploaded full resolution versions of all these images and a few more to my website: http://wow.diebythearrow.com/shared/...pbug/index.php

You would be better off posting this stuff on the official WoW forums; only Blizzard can make the changes necessary to fix these graphical abnormalities. The game engine is outside the purview of an addon author's influence.

No.... I asked my users for this information because I am working with Blizz to try and fix it. That's what this whole thread it about.

What I said still applies. This information should be consolidated to a thread on the official WoW forums where the game developers are reminded of this issue whenever someone makes a post. There is no guarantee that they will continue to monitor what has been posted here even if they have in the past.

I think Scott has been in direct communication with the devs on the matter and is using this thread as a reference and consolidation point for the images. Either way, I'm all for whatever it takes to solve this problem - I have this fear in my stomach that Mists of Pandaria might be oozing with this problem, making the entire expansion unplayable for me unless I stop using viewport - which makes a dual monitor setup impossible. Going back to only having 1920 pixels of width would suck after having twice the resolution for the last half decade. I would pay an extra month's subscription to get this fixed!

With all due respect, and I have no intention of picking a fight so please do not read it that way, but are you honestly going to tell me what should be posted in my thread on my forum?

I appreciate your input, but would respectfully ask that you allow me to manage my forums.

Aalwein is correct... I am in direct communication with Blizz on this matter and this thread was moved here specifically because the key people at Blizz needed to have a place to consolidate the data. This *IS* the vehicle that is being used to communicate directly with Blizz on the matter and I don't want anyone to confuse that issue.

If users have *new* data on this viewport problem, they *SHOULD* post it in this forum (but only if it is not a zone already known to have the issue)
