Carbonite minimap capturing modifier keys

Carbonite currently seems to poll for keyboard modifier keys such as Alt, Ctrl, and Shift. No doubt these are due to some feature or other of Carbonite, but is it possible to disable this altogether? I don't want Carbonite waiting for keystrokes as it is interfering with my keymappings.

For example, if I hold down the Alt key, a radius appears on the minimap. If I hold down Shift, my location arrow disappears. I'd like to turn all such related functionality off - can you help?
