Post Bug Reporting Instructions and 4.0+ Status

Before posting a bug report please try running Carbonite with all other addons disabled. If the bug persists, post it here and state that it occurs with no other addon running.

If the bug goes away after disabling your other addons, try to enable them a few at a time until you can find the addon that is conflicting. By providing: bug xyz occurs when running addon abc it will make finding and fixing it much easier.

Thank you for taking the time to submit bug reports.

WoW 4.0.1 and Carbonite 4:

Important: Press ESC, click Interface, click Help and make sure "Display LUA errors" is checked, then log out and back in. Report any errors that appear. Please state the version of Carbonite you are using in the bug report. You can leave this on permanently. It will not effect game play and alert you to addon problems.

The current situation is that there are a variety of bugs going on and not all of them are from Carbonite. Blizzard's major changes do have bugs. If weird things are happening, then doing a reboot and testing with only Carbonite enabled is a good place to start.

1. FPS: The game FPS may be lower because of new graphics effects in game like the new water. If you are getting any errors repeatedly, then it will slow the game. If "Display LUA Errors" is not checks in the game Interface/Help section, then it will bog you down without you knowing why, so turn it on. Lowering game graphics setting may be needed to achieve previous FPS you were getting.

2. Crash/Hang: These are generally from game bugs, not addon bugs. WoW hung last night for my son in an instance. He has done many instances today. Zero problems. Game bug.

3. Error Messages: In general only the first message is useful, since often the following errors are simply side effects of the first. The first line of the message showing "\Carbonite.lua:xxx:nnnn" is the key. That xxx number tells you what line of code is causing it and you can compare that to other people's or you own errors to see if they are the same. The nnnn text gives further details.
