Mod breaking bug...

Hello, I have been using carbonite since it first released and I really don't want to use any other mods..
I have been getting this SUPER annoying bug. It doesn't happen very often and seems to mostly happen while indoors or in major cities. It will happen no matter what I am doing, could just be standing there. I get a LUA error that pops up stating carbonite has generated an error.. after this carbonite is pretty much fubar.. /reload doesn't fix the issue but makes the error pop back up. The mod totally freaks out and if I zoom in the map zooms but part of it doesnt... the minimap is all out of wack, big black circle in the center or off center square. the icons stay in place on screen as I move around or scroll the map making them slide across the surface so to speak. Exiting and coming back in doesn't even fix the bug.. after a while however of tolerating this nonsense it suddenly fixes and goes back to working properly.. It really makes no sense lol.. wasn't sure if this was a known issue or not because I haven't read to see if it was (too busy playing to do too much reading) so I figured I would go ahead and post this report. I would post the error report or what ever but the mod has already gone back to normal and the error wont pop back up when I /reload.

well... there it is, I reported the bug and hope this helps somehow.. if there is any other additional information you need just let me know and I will do what I can to help.. I've been using this mod for so long I figure I should help support it because it really is a piece of art.

For some reason this bug is happening all the time now... I may have to uninstall it until it becomes more stable and use the live version.

I was referring to using other map mods. not other mods in general.....

Glad to see that I'm not the only one getting this error so I know it's not just me lol.. the more bugs we report the easier it will be for the developer in isolating and fixing the problem.

Based on what's going on in the section of code generating the error it's something to do with Pals... but i'll be damned if I can get it to happen for me, I've tried adding random people I see using carbonite, I've tried adding guildies who use carbonite.. and i've tried adding people who don't use carbonite at all and have yet to have the error occur.

That's definitely a little strange since I don't even use the Social/Punks part of Carb2 at all. I'm about to log in so I'll double check that and see if I can recreate it under similar circumstances for you Rythal.

yeah I don't use the pals/punks aspect of carb2 either. Maybe if I remove all the pals in my list? for some reason there are some in the list.. it happens at random times. no given warning or anything. It just happened to me a moment ago so I checked back here to see if anyone had any solution suggestions. What I was doing when it happened is I completed the shiny boar skull quest in the barrens playing as horde. I tried exiting the game and coming back on and it was fixed for a brief moment.. then I moused over the bullet to go talk to the blade master (forget his name) and it happened again. Could it be one of the mods conflicting? Is anyone else using any of the mods I'm using and getting the same error? I even tried disabling the social/punks aspect of the mod and the error still occurs. every time I log in it is fixed, but then after about 4-5 seconds the error occurs. Could it be quest related?

I had to uninstall the beta carbonite and install the release version. This bug keeps popping up more and more now. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't completely make the mod useless. I don't know how I can help to fix this but offer the error that it gives. It seems to happen at random times no matter what I'm doing. If there is anything I can do to assist just ask.

I was finally able to recreate the bug last night, but it's still at random. I was running Lower Black Rock Spire when it happened this time. I had thought that it was related to CRZ but it happened after being in the dungeon for about 5 minutes, so there goes that idea.

@Tyreneous, seems like the only mods we have in common are tiptac and xperl. I use a few of the other mods you do but the first time it happened to me I was on my baby druid with only tiptac, xperl, and carb2 loaded.

maybe there is an issue with tiptac then? I've noticed that the bug will pop up when I mouse over things too. It's completely random when it happens. Makes me wonder what could be going on. It is always the same error too. I've also noticed other bugs with it like when you're flying somewhere or something and it's tracking where you are going and if you mouse over other sections of the map that you aren't in, it will show you in that area as if you're there.. very strange. If there's anything I can do to help get these bugs resolved please feel free to ask. I'll do what ever it takes because I really love this mod. Like I said I've used it ever since it came out looong time ago lol. I would donate some money but cash is very tight right now and I'm currently looking for work myself while I go to school.

Found the problem... it was related to pals, even if you had social disabled... but not so much pals as guildies that also used carbonite who were inside certain instances.

Which is why it took me so long to finally figure it out, only one guildy uses carbonite and they were rarely inside instances before today.

Hopefully it's fixed now in the new version i'm about to upload.
