Make old map show only in "normal/large" view?

Is it possible to make the original bliz map show in the nonminimized view of the map (ie when you hit m) for all zones? On at least one of my chars the bliz map shows inside the carbonite map view for some but not all zones when you press m to open the map. While the cool looking terrain view type map is nice its not as easy to figure out where things are with the "plainer" blizzard map.

It seems random (?) which zones show the old blizzard map for example right now wetlands is showing the old style map on the char I am on but last night when I was in vash is was the contour style map which made it hard to locate certain areas.

Yes I know alt m brings up the original map but there are issues with that (mainly that its either full screen or a very small view so hard to navigate with it. It is not in the carbonite frame which is how I would like it)
