Unable to Dismiss Buffs

I recently discovered a problem when someone turned me into a Turkey. I tried to dismiss the buff, but it failed with the following error message.

nUI has been blocked from an action only available to the Blizzard UI.
You can disable this addon and reload the UI.

Further experimentation with self buffs revealed that I can't cancel any buff on my character when the nUI mod is running. I tried disabling nUI_AuraButtons and nUI_HUDLevel, but the same problem was still there. The only way for me to un-turkey myself was to turn off nUI, click off the buff and then reload the game with nUI enabled and pray that no one else turns me into a Turkey again.

nUI version: 5.07.07_Plus
nUI extras installed: nUI_AuraButtons_5.03.02, nUI_Config_GUI-1287631814, nUI_HUDLevel, nUI_InfoPanel_Stats_1.02.02

I'm not sure if there's much you can do, but given the number of polymorph things like this that Blizzard put into the game, especially at holiday times, I think it's important to be able to cancel these buffs without having to reload your UI.

It should be corrected in the next release I think Scott said but there has been multiple posts on this along with a work around.

/cancelaura NameOfAuraExactly

eg.

/cancelaura Retribution Aura
/cancelaura Righteous Fury
/cancelaura Blessing of Might

You can put frequent ones in a macro to make things easier until the solution to blizzard changing the way buffs/debuffs work is added.

You need to grab the 5.07.08 version -- that's the one that actually fixes the problem with right-clicking auras.

Thanks for the prompt response, both of you. I thought I had the latest release but I guess I missed the last one. Will go grab that now.

Thanks again for all the hard work you put into this mod. Appreciated!

Are you sure you got the correct version? The one that you want is “nUI+ (Release)” which is currently version 5.07.08 – if you have any version other than that, that is almost certainly the cause of the problem you’re having.

I would recommend the following…
  1. Exit WoW
  2. Go to the [ World of Warcraft ] folder
  3. Rename [ WTF ] to [ WTF.saved ]
  4. Rename [ Interface ] to [ Interface.saved ]
  5. Log in to WoW but do not enter the world
  6. If you see an “AddOns” button at the character selection screen, go back to step 1, you’re in the wrong [ World of Warcraft ] folder
  7. If you do not see an “AddOns” button, enter the world on any toon
  8. Exit WoW again
  9. Unzip nUI_5.07.08_Plus.zip into the [ World of Warcraft > Interface > AddOns ] folder
  10. Log in to WoW but do not enter the world
  11. If you do *not* see an “AddOns” button, go back to step 8, you installed nUI incorrectly
  12. If you do see an “AddOns” button, enter the world on any toon… nUI should work correctly now
