Revamp of hudmap independant of DBM?

was wondering if anybody had been mulling over the idea of revamping or recreating an older addon called Hudmap. AFAIK, it has been in some form or another, added into DBM, but was wondering if there might be a similar or same addon that is done totally independant. I thought the party and raid positioning ability was great purely just to let you have a graphical method of being able to tell where you were in relation to your mates.
