Relegation is an addon that runs in the background and monitors chat messages for gold spamming. Should a match be found, the target is automatically reported.

Why yet another anti-spam addon? Don't we have enough of them already?

It's not yet another anti-spam addon. Relegation works on completely different basis, unlike the others who ether ignore all players below a certain level or require authentication to communicate with you, causing annoyance between legitimate players.

What exactly does Relegation do, behind the scenes?

Once the addon is loaded, Relegation will start monitoring all received chat messages. For every message received, all symbols, whitespace and accent letters are removed and all characters turned into lowercase. Once it has finished trimming the message, it checks if the string is listed among the "evil" chat messages. If a match is found, the author of that message is transparently reported and the message squelched from the chat frame.

I saw a gold spammer the addon didn't recognise. What gives?

As time passes, more idiots keep appearing and existing idiots become even more stupid. Because of that, the author is simply unable to watch over all these idiots, standing on her own bones. If you would like to help, the author has made available a separate addon, RelegationW, which notes down all chat messages it sees. After you've seen some more idiots, you can send the author a email containing the file as an attachment.
