Is there anyway to make the minimap bigger?

Unfortunately, the minimap area cannot be grown bigger than the space it is in. At least in version 5.

This is because the unit frames fit around that area and the higher level raid frames take up that extra space that is seemingly wasted.

I must agree, I think I'll have to go back to using Carbonite just for it's minimap feature. Otherwise it's darn hard to find mining nodes (too small) in NUI.

It's possible to use both carb and nUI. I do. I also keep the minimap in the center of the dashboard, not docked in the carb map. The minimized carb map goes in the infopanel. When I'm farming herbs, I use carb's "route" feature. I follow the route by following the "crazy arrow" while looking at the minimap for nodes to pop up (and the default size is fine for me - but I think you can make them bigger, though I'm not sure how). Occasionally I look at the minimized carb map to see where the route is going (and to make sure I'm still on it).

I use Sexy map gather hud to spot nodes. It is much easier and it seems to work with the std minimap or Carb. I shut of all the other features and remove the ring around the map.

I love that animated arrow ore/herb route feature that Carbonite has. Unfortunately I think it's under-publicized... not many people that use Carb even know it's there.
