Game freezes

When I enter game wit nui+ on the game freezes and I'm forced to force quit game and turn nui+ off. Then I am able to play game. i know alot has to be worked out I'm not being critical just pointing out a problem. cant wait to get this up and running again i love this mod

I had this problem with no addons at all sitting in an empty exodar the day the patch came out ... had to change my graphic settings to fix it. Well, my brother changed teh windows side of things and I set the in game graphics from ultra down to fair.

I now have nUI as well as about 20 other addons and in a lively stormwind running at 50fps along with a bugged addon (TauntMaster in this case )erroring out every 60 seconds making the fps worse

There could be a large number of factors at work here.

For starters, be sure you're running nUI 5.07.02 (PTR Beta) or 5.07.03 (Development) -- any earlier version is going to be unstable.

Presuming you have the correct version, try the following please...

Exit WoW
Go to the [ World of Warcraft ] directory and rename [ WTF ] to [ WTF.saved ] and rename [ Interface ] to [ Interface.saved ]
Log in to WoW
At the character selection screen, check to see if you have an AddOns button. If you do, you're in the wrong [ World of Warcraft ] directory... go back to step 1.
If there's no AddOns button, enter the world on any of your toons
Exit WoW again
Install nUI_5.07.03_Development.zip into your [ World of Warcraft > Interface > AddOns ] folder
Log in to WoW and enter the world on any toon
Do you still get errors? If you do, please post the error you get here and/or a screen shot

when you say addon buttons do you mean the button on bottom left side that says addons?

now i reloaded the addon into addon folder and started game but no addons now exist including nui im at a lost

Did you unzip the nUI_5.07.03_Development.zip file into the [ World of Warcraft > Interface > AddOns ] folder?

If so, then when you look you should see [ World of Warcraft > Interface > AddOns > nUI > Layouts > Default ]

If you don't see that path, you didn't install it correctly.

i downloaded nui into the interface.saved addon folder that is correct right or do i load into layout folder

If when you start WoW you do not have a wtf folder or an interface folder, the client will create them. When you rename folders to wtf.saved or interface.saved, you no longer have folders named wtf or interface.

nUI should go into the addons folder inside the interface folder.

1. rename folders by adding .saved to the end of the name (you already did that).
2. log in to Wow so the client creates new interface and wtf folders. (go into the game with any character).
3. quit wow, and unzip nUI into the correct folder (see above).
4. now you should be good to go.

I have a slightly different issue, and that is that the client freeze when i mouseover anything.

if stops freezing after 5 - 10 seconds if i remove the mouse from anything that would make the mouseover window pop up.

There is a known issue with "Cog" wheel items that causes crashes or freezes, but not sure about anything else in particular

No only mod i have installed but I look into Warcraft folder i have wtf and wtf.saved and Interface and interface .saved in the folder

can I delete the folders that dont have .saved to them and I dont know how much difference it makes but I am on a Mac

The .saved folders we created as a backup... they are not being used by WoW and can be deleted if you are happy with the current state of how things are working. The folders [WTF] and [Interface] that do *not* have a .saved extension are the ones that WoW is using when you're logged in... you do not want to delete those unless you're going to revert back to what you had before you renamed them.

Same problem, I log in and it freezes immediately, there are 45 lua errors. I have done exactly what was suggested exactly as per instructions which were brilliant btw thank you. I have zero addons, have installed only this one and still cannot get the errors to go away. No matter what, the ONLY version that worked was your very first one. LOL and this is a new computer, so I'm not sure what to do. I've been on this now for just about 8 hrs straight, I love the look of this program so much that it has to work. The only version I cannot find is the one in this thread 5.07, all the versions I see are 5.06. What can I do to get this program working?

First off, are you deleting just the WTF and INTERFACE folders for the account? Each character on each realm will also have its own individual folders, and it may be necessary to go through each one and delete them.

Second, did you try turning nUI off with the Addons Button in you Character Selection Screen? Do that and go do some quests or run a dungeon... if nothing happens then your Blizzard Client is working, but it may be the Blizzard Client causing the errors in the first place. With the expansion so close, bugs are abundant even for people that have never ever used a mod or addon.

Third, if the Blizzard Client is works correctly for you, install an addon called "!Swatter" and play with just that running for an hour or so. If you still don't have any issues I suggest completely deleting nUI and starting with a fresh installation of the most recent version.

Note: Before starting the game, check the download bar at the bottom of the Blizzard Launcher. If it is poping up, let it run for about 10 minutes. You may be trying to download patches and have firewall or antivirus issues. I have Kaspersky Antivirus, and it hates the new update installation changes so I have to temporarily disable it to get my game updates installed correctly.

If at any point !Swatter pops up with LUA errors, please Copy+Paste them over here so Mr. Scott can have a look.

Hello and thank you for your reply. Remember I was working on just this addon nothing else for the entire day and half the night. I gave up at 1am.

I am on the new Imac so it has nothing running in the background. I have deleted every copy of nUI and re-downloaded it many many times and have downloaded every single version except the version I mentioned in my other post because that version does not exist for me.

I have renamed interface as interface.saved and wtf as wtf.saved. I had zero addons of course when I started wow again. The only thing different about the instructions was that when I did that it appeared as if I had not played the game before and I needed to go choose my realm again. However, after I logged back in I was completely fine.

I can play the game NP, I can use other addon's no problem, its only when I try and use this one which is fantastic from what I can see. When I log in I immedidately get a giant box blank with a red X on the bottom just like someone else wrote. All I get is black bars at the bottom and the top kind of, I've tried lowering my resolution to fair and than low. I'm really trying here.
the only thing I haven't tried is deleting my entire "wow cache" folder, not sure if that would do anything.

regarding your question: if I turned the add on off in the add on screen, the only way for me to in is to turn it off, so I've done this tons and tons of times because I've had to go in and turn of .lua errors to see if that would help, hey I'm very inventive and if there is a way I have tried it. I've googled my brains out trying to find an answer.

I have nothing downloading from the game its finished. I am interested in what this Iswatter is?? What would be the purpose of doing this I wonder?

Any other suggestion? desperate to use this fantastic program and it's prob something simple..
