[Request] Parially Loading NUI+?

Hello,

Still dabbling with NUI+. I like it but I'm not fond of the 10+MB that ity gobbles up. Is there any way to minimize the memory utilization?

Perhaps, only loading the solo UI until 25 man raiding....then toggling that UI addition and reinitializing the UI for only that frame setup?

I would gladly deal with a /NUI RL every time the settings change if it will reduce the utilization.

Thanks!

10 meg is *nothing* -- I cannot imagine a reason to care about it. On modern systems, as long as total addon usage stays below 100meg, there's no reason to even think about it.

I could get into all the nit and grit details if you like, but I don't want to bore you or seem like I'm lecturing.

Try this... remove nUI and install a complete suite of mods that provides all of the features in nUI and then look at your total addon memory usage... I guarantee it will be way more. That's one of the benefits of nUI. I realize when you look at it you see 10meg to 50meg depending on what you're doing, but that's because nUI is doing everything a whole suite of mods used to do... you're just not used to seeing one mod do that.

In addition... memory usage is irrelevant to game performance. What matters is CPU usage. A mod could easily be using a hundred meg of ram and have zero impact on your game just as easily as I could write a mod that uses zero memory and drops your frame rate to 1fps.

Honestly... don't sweat the 10 meg.

alright, I accept that.
*no sarcasm

The reason for my recent posts is that there must be an impact. If I understand your mod correctly: you disable Blizz's default UI and replace it with a newly located portion of the Blizz's UI.

Effectively changing nothing but only rearranging it. If that is the case, how can any negative performace arise?

nUI does more than just rearrange the elements... way more.

There will always be *some* performance hit when you use a UI replacement mod. However, it shouldn't be more than 10% -- For some reason this latest version of nUI is causing some people a much larger problem and I'm looking into why... but the memory usage is not the issue. There's some process that's running amok and sucking up the free CPU cycles... that's what I've got to find.
