Nurfed UnitFrames uses 3D Models for the player and also for the Target portraits. It's a great concept. However I've found out if you target a player (via party frame) and they are perhaps way way way away from you that you don't get a model. Any way to compensate for this?

Is it possible that with learning this scripting, I might be able to understand how to make my own little mod?

I'm tryin' to figure out how to make a mod that I can run on my own computer. I don't want to alter my copy of WoW, I'd like to make a new version, but something I can tinker with so I can figure out how they make their models, textures, etc... and maybe figure out how to implement my own into it.

I suppose you could use a special frame in order to attempt to import models. That wouldn't be changing any game files, so it won't be against ToS. You'll just be viewing the model in something like the inspect frame.
