I would guess you placed the "Addons"-folder in the wrong place.

What's the path you have it in?

When you say "downloaded into my addons folder" do you mean that you've downloaded the addons and then extracted them from their compressed archive (usually a .zip file) into your World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns folder or do you mean that you've downloaded addons and put the compressed archive file directly into your World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns folder?

I know I'm taking that comment literally but it's worth checking! Anyways, make sure that you've extracted each addon correctly, either straight into your World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns folder or into a temporary folder and then moving the addons folder to your World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns folder. Check your World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns folder, you should see the 13 default Blizzard addons plus at least one folder (some addons install more than one folder) for each addon you've installed.

I am having the exact same problem with addons...I copy them all into the correct folder (the ones with the standard Blizz ones) and yet I can't use any of them. Please elaborate.

Well, the problem is that we don't have an Addons button on the char screen.

I'm 100% sure that I've done everything right.
One of my friends got the exact same problem.

Z:\yandax\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\CTMod

And yes, I have extracted the zip file, and now I have folders named:

CT_BuffMod
CT_Core
CT_ExpenseHistory
etc...

So, what can be the problem?

I have restarted the game many times now, it just wont work
I have also tested in both fullscreen and windowed screen.

The fact that your file structure is not correct. It should be like this.

Z:\yandax\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\CT_BuffMod
Z:\yandax\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\CT_Core
Z:\yandax\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\CT_ExpenseHistory

Most likely this is the reason. Of course you could always read (again) Cairenn Read This First

The Addons button will not show if there is no addon and WoW cannot find addons within nested folders.
To clarify, if you have
  • X:\...\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\CTMod\CT_BuffMod
instead of
  • X:\...\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\CT_BuffMod
then it will not work

This is a frequent mistake with WinZip because of the difference between "Extract here" which extract the content of the archive directly and "Extract to X:\...\...\XYZ\Whatever" which creates a folder named after the archive with the actual content inside.

Took me forever to explain some people how to properly install CharacterProfiler to update our WoW-Roster because of that
