Exclamation New optional nUI Plugin -- Aura Bars

For those who have not caught it in the release notice because no one ever reads the release notices ~grin~ there's a new optional plugin available for nUI now that replaces the default player, player pet and target aura icons that appear above the dashboard with aura bars.

You can find the download at http://www.wowinterface.com/download....html#optional

I've also attached two screen shots... one with the HUD and upper console and one without.

Offhand... no. Are you getting any error messages?

I tend to agree it's nice in some ways. Extremely bulky and cluttered in others. Its not that I am a minimalist. Rather a person of proper design and functionality. Better functionality comes from a better thought out GUI. This sadly even if all coded, is tainted by a very squishes together feel. And from a designers standpoint, especially considering my background in software design. This has a lot of work per say to go with its GUI development. Rather than its coding. Hopefully in the next versions you will play more with GUI design. Your mod is very nice and it could be made better with a actual GUI that fits its programming.

Yet another designer who knows that their opinion is the only right one.

If you do not like the layout I like, please feel free to improve it and upload your alternate. nUI has been designed to allow for that.

It is not possible to please everyone with one design. It is not possible to please everyone with 100 designs. However, you are invited to please yourself with your own design and if you care to share it, I'm sure others will like it as do you... as others like mine, as well.

Funny how the world works that way.

Hello Speil,

I love the update, especially the auras. I will be sending another donation soon because I think this is an awesome mod that makes it easy for new users to learn WoW.

I thought of a feature enhancement for nUI while raiding heroics this week. Currently I have Decursive installed, which I would love to get rid of along with the rest of my mods except for nUI of course. Anyway, what it does is make a distinctive ding noise when somebody gets a curse and then allow you to quickly decurse them with a mouse click. But I would like to take it one step further, with my mage I can currently spell steal. I almost never use it because I have no idea when somebody (or a boss) has cast a spell I can steal. I have to waste time trying to spell steal something that isn't possible which lowers my DPS and generally wastes time. If you could look up what spells are stealable (I'm sure similar auras would be useful to other classes as well) and then "ding" me so I can continue my takeover of the world of Warcraft that would be awesome.

Let me know if that is a possible feature or if I am just blowing smoke.

Anyway, for the bazillionth time, thanks for all the hard work and the wonderful mod.

Well... as noted in the current update, I made quite a few changes to the aura logic in this update to prepare for some new features. Among them are bars for the time remaining on auras. However, the bigger plan is that I want to create some plugins the use nUI's aura engine to track in one place the auras you have on other players, when they are expiring, etc. To that I wanted to add the ability to filter which auras a tracked.

The latter capability would make it possible to create a plugin which tracks when stealable auras are cast. I'll keep that in the back of my mind as I work on that project.

As for decursive, as has been mentioned previously, the unit frames already actually have the capability of tracking who is diseased, cursed, magicked, etc. I just haven't finished it because I've kind of been focused in other places. However, that is coming to a head with the changes I made in the auras, because I'm trying to move to where I can tie those together (including tracking who is taking damage, how fast, etc.)

So... there's more coming... it's just a matter of time and motivation.

I also appreciate your support. I wish there were enough of it, but it is what it is. Most people do not contribute, but that's okay... I am just all the more grateful for those who do.

Maybe someday I'll be able to make a living off nUI, for now I'd be happy with pizza every couple of weeks ~grin~

/em shows Sieben11 the door.

it's -------------------------------> That way.

Don't like it? Don't use it. But don't come in here and tell the author how to design the UI mod he makes for himself and shares. Much less cop out and be a chicken and register a new account JUST so you can post that drivel.

Hello Spiel2001,

I've read the patch note and see that there are no portion talking about problem with third party addons. Does that mean that all compatibilities that you had are resolved?

And one friend of mine found a tiny little thing. At the bottom, the local time is not with daylight saving. So... he got to bed 1h later hehe!

Still using this ui since v1. Keep it up.

~lol~

I wish.

Unfortunately, I had to leave them off this post because there wasn't enough room for the entire post. They still are in the patch notes on the download page and distributed with the mod though.

Hmmm.... I wonder.... if I delete the incompatibilities from the patch notes, will they go away? Kind of a "The Secret" thing... the illusion of reality and all that.

~sigh~

Leave the incompatibilities from the patch notes, call it a developer release and then you can say it was written by microsoft. /evilgrin

Might I ask what that addon is for debuffs? The little boxes on the left and right side of your screen?

Or Uh, stupid me, is that what the auras addon does? :P

Vehicle Interface

First of all, great UI. My wife and I are using it right now and I suspect you'll be getting a donation from us very soon. To those who don't like it, all I can say is they have completely missed the point of an interface that clears up the clutter many of us have because we use third party mods to play WoW.

You asked for feedback on the WOTLK vehicle interface, and here is my suggestion. Disable the Blizzard vehicle interface. I don't see it having any advantages and it completely covers up important information, including the Vehicle health status. Since the vehicle health appears in the Pet status area of the nUI interface, the vehicle bar makes it impossible to see the data.

In the nUI.lua code you have commented out the code that hides the Blizzard vehicle bar. I uncommented that code, and now I can see the information I need. You already replace the user hotbar with the vehicle buttons, so it all works perfectly for me.

I suggest you make this a permanent change. Then if people find that there are quests that require the vehicle bar you can debug those quests specifically. So far I haven't found any, and I do a lot of dailies that require a "vehicle."

Another option would be to make a toggle command that hides/shows the vehicle status bar when needed. That allows us to use it if we find a quest that must use that system. This might be the best solution for now.

I never thought to test that on the PTR. I'll get a patch out as soon as I can to fix that.
