Mage Ports

Actually have a question on how to edit this guy..

So my current monitor is crap; i run at 1024x768 resolution in-game. And the mage ports addon is totally broken. The buttons are huge and overlapping and can't see any of the text.

Im just curious if theirs anyway to reduce everything in the panel by like 50% lol.. best way to put it is similar to graphic design; i would like the info panel object to be >image>image size>scale>50% .. haha..

Wouldn't normally ask but recently got my second 80; as a mage.. and i kinda like this little guy if i could actually click on the portal i want .. :\(and yes; since wrath a yr ago; and bc 2+yrs ago this is the only toon to make it past 45.. im kinda lazy like that..)

Hmm, thats strange, I was sure I tested it at 1024x768 as that is one of my selectable resolutions.

It should scale similarly to nUI with all 6 buttons sizing and positioning to fit in the display.

Can you post up a screenshot to refresh me what it looks like for you.

Here's what it looks like for me...

The button frames overlap and the text isn't showing very well.

Just if i could get help shrinking it so it doesn't look funky be nice; for some reason if my cursor isn't "perfect" on the button it casts the one next to it .. somewhat annoying. plus the text is nice as an at-a-glance for regeants.. would be nice to see that..

(and this is with the updated version on the downloads page)

Is that with the default font size settings or did you make some changes with the slash commands mageports has ? You could try deleting the mageports WTF file and see if that resets it correctly for you with the default settings.

Hmm, well found out the cause. I always have my UI scale set to low as my monitor is so small that the UI takes up too much screen estate. These 2 screenshots are for 1280x1024 with first low scale and second not using scale at all as you can see from the options screen open.

While I work out why it doesn't scale in the frame with no scale being used you might want to take the UI scale button and see if that resolves your problem.

Well, it seems the more you scale down the buttons programmatically the more an outer frame appears around the buttons which have no name. They don't seem to be clickable but seeing as I have named every item I create ( button, texture, cooldown, fontstring ) I cannot fathom why this container type frame isn't resizing as well.

That frame is very likely the "NormalTexture" element of the button. Have a look at nUI's action button code and you'll see how I handle those. They're a real PITA and Blizz insists on constantly resetting those in spite of what you tell it.

That did it thanks Scott. I was setting a normal texture but I guess it doesn't have an actual visual so I just turned it back to an empty string like you did.

As to the problem at hand I think it is due to my initial setting up of the frame before plugging into the infopanel so working on it in that regards before fiddling with the infopanel resizing.

No worries. Looks like I've figured it out. Just working on figuring the font resizing. The buttons resize perfectly with the UI scaling on and off. The problem seems to have been with the positioning of the text and its sizing which doesn't scale with the UI. As long as I don't reposition the text inside the panel its anchor position with the buttons move perfectly based on the initial setting.

Okay, looks like its all set now.

http://www.wowinterface.com/download...MagePorts.html

Tested it with several resolutions, both using Low Scaling, High Scaling and No Scaling.

The only problem you will come across is if you change something that doesn't reset the UI it will not reset the font size to reflect the new changes. So use /mp fontsize after using /nui rl to tell it to reset the UI and reset to the default size if the size it is at doesn't look right. You can then tamper around with one that works outside of the default 10 and 14.

Triggers of UI Reset are Resolution Changes and toggling of UI Scaling. UI Scale Value changing changes the graphics but not a full UI Reset so you will have to do that manually as above.

Well, my old monitor threw a wobbly and I've been given an old one by someone else and its 1440 x 900 widescreen ( yuck ) rofl. Well MagePorts still worked once I switched resolutions ( although I did forget to tell it to reset the font but it still looked fine ).
