There's priorities and there's also knowing when you have certain effects up. I know that my priest has a half dozen or so effects that can be active at any point in time. Extending DoT durations is a great single target DPS enhancer. Problem is you have to know when to do it and when not to do it. That's where my addon comes into play. It helps me know when to refresh dots for a DPS gain and when to let them keep ticking.
