Locale-independent macros?

How can I make a macro that is locale-independent? I know how to use items with "/use item:###", and I can make a script involving CallCompanion() for mounts, but I can't figure out a way to cast a spell in a locale-independent manner. I would like to be able to switch between different languages of the WoW client and still have my macros work.

I believe that in beta Cata you could at some point /use and /cast spell:id but not anymore.

I agree we need spell: to help make our macros totally locale independent and not to mention shorter in many cases.
