Ferous... I really like those slim sexy unit frames (although not in the center of the screen), but the huge in-your-face actionbars buffs/debuffs just don't give it a fluid feel. Design wise they are hawt.. they just kinda feel too big. I think if they were a bit smaller then things would look a lot better.

Overall... design is amazing as always.

Seriously, I think the resolution is the main reason why some parts look a little bit clumsy.

I did have a widescreen! But it broke >.> So back to non widescreen. Next time I'm able to afford one though, you already know!

I really like my Actionbar area though. But I know what you mean Petrah by meaning it doesn't really fit with it all. I just don't know to get it more 'fluid' looking with my non-widescreen.

Just a quick thingy showing the party. It raises as you add more people for raid n such :P I haven't raided in a week or so so yeah... When I do, I'll post it I'll try to figure out ways to get it more 'matching'

Right, since I have to play on my laptop during the week I remade my UI for it.

Some things still need a bit of tweaking tho.

HP/mana percentages hide when full. Pet actionbar on mouseover.

For such a little screen I still think it came out quite well. Ofcourse home at my huge screen it all looks way better and smaller but still.

Actual party/combat shot tomorrow.
edit: yes the debuff frame is a little too huge atm.

Hey Ferous, love your UI. It served my Ally Druid pretty well in ICC earlier this year, and pretty much inspired me to work on my own. =D

Did some minor changes to the last screenie I posted a few days back. Centered alot of the information needed so I can see better. Put the chat in a rather centralized local so all I have to do is nudge my eyes up and down instead of down and left and visa verca.

The second bar looks somewhat out of place. Is it always visible? or mouseover? If its always visible I'd suggest adding a panel behind it same color as the one behind the main bar. And centering the darker panel b/t the 2 bars. Or doing something similar to what your unit frames look like in the second pick with your action bars.

I like the first suggestion better. Since those are just supplement/profession buttons anyhow. I'll have to play around with it some to see what I come up with.

Do you mean the text on my debuffs in the bottom right? It's orange/red-ish since I feel that sticks out more.

It's also a count text, not time text btw.

Renaitre Raid UI v4alpha

Changing things around
  • focus on left with focustarget above (both showing debuff icons)
  • player portrait with castbar overlay centered under buff/dot bars
  • target on right with targettarget above (both showing buff icons for pvp)

I would like to make the unitframe hp bars a dark grey with the power bars and name class colored, but would like to know what others would suggest for the health deficit and portrait with that color scheme.

Included is a shaded bar texture if anyone would like to try it out (convert to tga).

I tried a fairly similar style like that, but with some transparency on the background frame. You might try that, too. I think colors are pretty important for such a unit frame style, the right ones can make a big difference.

Anyway, I would suggest reducing the background frames height to go just a little bit over the units name - like as much as there is space between each of the other borders to your bars.

I personally ended up putting the ToT (for target), pet (for player) and focus target (for focus ...) into the background frame (well instead of it, to be exactly.) That might be working for you, too.
