Gathering character information and execute upload script

If a question about the possibilities of LUA with WOW:

Is it possible to write a script that automatically gathers your character information (name, class, level & equipment) and transfers that data directly to a online database (mySQL) ? If yes, please give me a hint what functions are neccessary.

no, all write-to-file functions in lua were disabled by Blizzard
