Unhappy Mac Users?

While I'm happy for you in that you have managed to find a way to reclaim your bandwidth, I am deeply sorrowed to see WowMatrix go. You see, WowMatrix was really the only VIABLE updater for players who use Macs. Yes, Curse has technically has a Mac version, but it works horribly unreliably (and not at all if you have a version of the OS older than 1 year) and from what I understand is in complete disregard of Mac program UI standards; and WowInterface, from what I can tell, has never had a Mac client. And please don't make turn this into a "Mac sux buy a PC" thread---that's entirely off the point and offensive to many players.

My question is, does WowI plan on releasing a Mac version?

Frankly, I feel severly inconvenienced here in having to spend HOURS looking through two websites to update my more that 60 addons where I could previously do so in a couple minutes. I really hope you plan on supporting Macs, they are after all increasing in popularity, making their users an important part of your community.

We've always had a Mac updater. It still works. It just isn't as nice as we'd like it to be, so we are making a new one.

No way we'd leave out a significant portion of our users.

Also, manually updating your addons doesn't have to be time consuming or difficult at all. It's actually very easy. I've posted this elsewhere, but I'll copy it here too:
On WoWInterface (I don't know about Curse, but I'm sure it's something similar, same with wowui.incgamers), when you go to the download page of an AddOn you use and like, you can click on the little heart underneath the big download button. That adds it to your favourites list. Now every time you visit the site, you will see a notice on the front page (Community tab) saying whether any of your favourites have been updated. As well, there is a link on the top bar of the site that says "favourites", that you can click at any time to go look at your list.

To get email notifications of updates of your favourites, do this:

If you are on your Favourites list page you will see a little menu on the left, or if you are on any other page on the site (except the forums tab) you can click on "Options" on the top bar. Either one of those places you will see:

AddOn Options
Manage Favorites
Email Feeds
Preferences
Download History

Click on "Preferences". You will then see this:

Download Preferences
My Favorites Options
Email Notification:
Enable this feature to recive email notification when one of your favorites has been updated.
yes no

Just check "yes" and any time any AddOn on your favourites list is updated, it will send out an email notification that it has been updated and give you a direct link to the download page for that AddOn.
Hope that helps.

What if I can help? Probably not in the next couple of weeks but after that I should have at least a couple of nights per week.

Not with the in-the-works client but you did ignore Linux users with the old version I believe :-P

Fixed quoting

Eh, it works if you make a symbolic link which points "Addons" to "AddOns"

Is there any estimate on how long it will be? Tomorrow, next week, next year?

And is there anyway to be informed when it does get released by email so i don't have to keep watching this thread?

Most likely it will be posted as a news article on the main page of the site. So all you will probably need to do is get the RSS feed of the site news.

Shirik: Unless you'd rather donations go straight to WoWInterface, I was willing to donate something small to you once the updater was done.

I plan to buy premium for Allakhazam/WoWI either way, though.

Hi guys,

Please be aware of the new forum, "MMOUI Minion" in which I have posted the current revision of the API, subject to change. I welcome any discussion regarding it in that forum, as well as any other suggestions which you may have.

This might best be locked IMO then to let all discussion take place in that forum

New discussion of the updater is now occurring in this forum.
