What quest does that item belong to?

Is there an addon that adds the quest name to the tooltip when mousing over a Quest Item in your inventory? I hate carrying around all those quest items that I no longer have the associated quest for. Any ideas?

I don't think there is a function that allows you to grab that information. We can confirm an item is a quest item whether picked up or given to us but outside of that I am not aware of anything.

Carbonite does show quest names on tooltips for quest items but if that's all you want an addon for it's a tad heavyweight.

I just went through my quest log and abandoned several quests and the associated items were discarded automatically. I'm not real sure if it only does this for certain quest items now, or if Blizz made a change at some point that I missed.

Other than that I can't think of an addon that has only this one function.

I suspect carbonite tags onto the quest log item search which is useless for those items that do not get deleted automatically of which there are quite a few. Or when you first get the item and the quest log tracks it it then records that item being linked to that quest. That would be the only way I can think of.

The only way to do it would be to have a giant quest database, I'm not aware of any mod with this functionality.

I would think an addon that queries the WoWHead database with the item name could do this...there isn't anything like that out there?

WoW is a sandbox. Nothing gets in or out while it is running.

Perhaps something like Mendeleev, Engravings, or EnhancedTooltip (fr. Auctioneer)
