Tried that myself Spiel, no difference. I too thought it was the unit frame panel and i've tried switching to solo and party mode while in raid with no luck however I haven't tried turning autogroup off. Might make a bit of sense to turn that off and give it a test. Ok, i'm going to go test that out...

I just joined a 25 man Vault run. I crashed during the boss fight the other day. So stand by and I will update.

I am in Player mode, and btw, Unit Frames Auto Group is not checked by default. At least for me. So therefore, I think it has been considered off?

Ok here's what I did. I capped my FPS @ 60 (/console maxfps 60) and gave Eye of the Storm and Strand of the Ancients a whirl. With nUI+ (fresh downloaded and installed copy, WTF wiped), Auto Group DISABLED, and using only the SOLO Unit Frame Panel, In both EotS and SotA the FPS would drop to the 15-20 range while engaging only 1-2 enemies, 2 - 16 FPS in large fighting areas. However I tried just running around places with no enemy players and it would drop to 2 - 12 FPS with nobody even near me in some areas.

I reinstalled my previous WTF and Addons folder with my nUI look-a-like interface I came up with using all those various mods listed earlier. Capped the FPS again at 60 and hopped into EotS and SotA again. FPS was between 58-60 at any time except in major areas with tons of fighting and spells going off my FPS would drop to the 42 - 56 FPS range.

Without the FPS cap I would have gotten better FPS without nUI and I have been getting about the same with nUI as I got this time, cap or no cap. I did that just so I could have a solid "I know what my max FPS is" value.

Edit: *At times with nUI installed my FPS was at the max 60 FPS when nobody was around but when it spikes down it spikes HARD! It would be in the 56-60FPS range and then an enemy comes up and BOOM it's down to 16 FPS or lower. Same with running around with nobody around. 56-60FPS and then as I crossed mid EotS with nobody anywhere near it BOOM 12 FPS or lower.

Well... it's pretty obvious that there's something causing a FPS leak on some people's systems with nUI... now the trick is to try and pin down what the leak is and where.

The thing that bothers me is that with the unit frame panel in solo or party mode, it shouldn't be triggering events on your other unit frames or consuming any time in them even if it does. Just running around not near anyone shouldn't be producing any traffic in the UI, so then what's the issue, where and why?

*puzzled*

I need those of you who have this issue to see if you can identify what the trigger is that causes the FPS drop... that's a lot to ask, but I don't even know where to start to look. Worst case, we could try creating hobbled versions of nUI with certain modules stubbed out and see if we can work out which module or modules are at fault but that's a really ugly way to go about it.

Ok here are my results. Just finished a 25 man and 10 man Vault.

I'm using Nui+

I decided to go with full screen mode and not my usual windowed mode.

FPS at 60 FPS steady. Dropped a little during the trash.

Then during boss fight I made it all the way until the end when he was about to die, and bam disconnected. FPS was at about 25-30 during this fight.

Now the 10 man:

FPS at 60 for the start, zone in, trash.

Boss dropped to about 45-50.

Steady and no disconnects all the way through.

So it seems like two things.

There is an issue with 25 man raids. It is really bad for me if I have windowed mode turned on. Still get disconnects in full screen mode.

There is an overall drop in FPS using Nui. However, I do not really care if my FPS is at 30 or 60, as long as the game is playable.

You know, i feel bad about this because at one time i was having the same exact thing happening all the time. Then i went and built a new pc because my old one was getting a little old and it wasnt really feasable to update it anymore. I also built my wife a new pc as hers was having similar issues. Now neither of the old machines was what you would consider weak, they just wernt the best anymore. 1yr old vid cards, running 2+gig ram, etc. I no longer have this issue at all on the new machines. There were some pretty drastic changes between the old and new systems in regards to switching vid card types etc. I am coming to the conclusion which is reinforced by what i see on the blizz boards that there may be a hardware related issue involved somewhere as well. I am wondering if there arnt some things in wow that some video cards just arnt handling well, and of which nUI makes use of?
Maybe a driver update might help some of you having issues?

Well with my issues they weren't happening (nor have they ever happened) before I decided to do a fresh install of nUI. Running on a 2.66GHz C2D w/4GB Ram, Radeon HD 2600 Pro myself so I shouldn't be having any issues with nUI. I got a MacBook Pro (Santa Rosa) w/ nVidia 8600GT that can't even compete with my iMac in terms of gaming performance however it sits at the 30 FPS range with or without nUI in WoW.

So Spiel, I got a question. I'm assuming people having these problems have had them from the beginning or at least it sounds like it to me. My issue just started with the install of nUI+ after doing a clean wipe of the WTF and Addons folder whereas my previous install of nUI Pro or, even further back, nUI Lite wasn't doing this. Any thoughts on why? I'm going to try to install a previous version of nUI right now and see what happens.

My machine is also very clean of spyware and so on. Defrag., once a week. I like Aerador, am using a fresh install of Nui +

I Got It Working!!!

Ok so BIG UPDATE! I wiped the Addons folder ONLY and not the WTF this time. I found the last version of nUI Pro I had and installed nUI Pro 5.01.01. Hopped in EotS, WSG, and SotA and i'm not having any more FPS issues! I have tested both with Auto Group on and off as well as with each of the Unit Frame Panels. So since I got that working I went ahead and reinstalled all my previous mods (from before I made the look-a-like nUI) and all is still running smooth.

This time I capped the FPS at 50 (/console maxfps 50) and when in any of the BGs or a raid the most i'm seeing is a 20 FPS drop. The same areas in EotS that were dropping me to 2-12 FPS are now dropping me in the 30s. Large fights with spells flying? It's staying in the 40s.

Ok so I reinstalled nUI+ after wiping both the Addons and WTF folders and the issue came back. Wiped the Addons and WTF folders again, reinstalled nUI Pro 5.01.01 and all is great again. So now... What changed in nUI Pro 5.01.01 vs nUI+ that's freaking out my WoW? LOL!

I just tried 2 different versions of nUI. I had a very small performance hit going from solo to 40 man. Overall, it seemed to be working great, minimal lag type jumping around and very reasonable frame rates.

Both versions ran within a few FPS of each other.

Solo: approx 50-60 in most areas and rarely dropping in congested areas.
40 Man: approx 40-50 most places in AV. I did not get a chance to get into the thick of it though, we won shortly after I entered for testing, lol

nUI seems fine when on it's completely on it's own, so far. I'm going to work through my addon folder enabling/disabling one by one to see if another addon is conflicting with nUI in some strange way that doesn't throw errors. There may be a common culprit in all of our UI's causing this.

I thought maybe my FPS issue was directly related to me being a Mac user and some snooping around is showing some World of Warcraft Preference files in /Library/Preferences/ like "com.blizzard.World of Warcraft.prefs" but going threw those as well as /Users/Shared/Blizzard/ isn't showing any addon info in those preference files. Is there any place else I could look?

Hmmm... the only thing that's changed between 5.01.01 and 5.01.013 is the text messages that are displayed when you log in so that I would be in compliance with Bliz's new policy. I can't think of anything else that's changed.

I'm going to have to do a diff of the two versions and see if I can spot something. Maybe I fat fingered something and didn't know it.

Just as an information addition...without spec's (I dont have time atm, sorry)

In the wilderness in Loch Modan (no congestion)

NUI+ and all addons (windowed mode) 35-40fps
NUI+ and all addons (non-windowed mode) 45-50fps

non NUI+ and all addons (windowed mode) 55-60 fps
non NUI+ and all addons (non-windowed mode) 60+fps

There is something happening here. I've posted elsewhere of the memory utilization. Perhaps the total size of NUI+ cannot be cached and is affecting fps?

An interesting post... similar issues to what we're discussing here but involving Recount... http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...37617598&sid=1

In my gut, I'm still inclined to think this is some oddball Blizzard issue. I just don't know what or why... which is not to say I don't intend to find out what and why and figure out a workaround for it.

Spiel, I just wanted to say thank you for continuously checking the forums and for the level of support you give. A great addon by a great author.

Let me know if there's anything I/WE can do to help track down these issues!

So it is clear for my situation, when I decided to give Nui a go, I deleted my Interface and WTF folders. Ran repair.exe checked all the boxes there, and click 'Reset Only'.

Then followed Nui's install instructions to the T.

So I should be clean with the install.

More testing to do, but for some reason I do not leave 30 FPS at windowed mode. 60 FPS in full screen mode.

25 man's disconnect at some point.

10 man's are ok

40 man Alterac Valley raid are ok.

I just realized something (which is a major bummer).

I only started getting DC'd when i started to use nUI pro/+.

I was thinking could the raid frames be causing the FPS problem. If the only difference between nUI and nUI+ are raid frames, i would be more than happy to test it out tonight (25man Maly).

Just a thought. I am willing to do anything i can to get this problem worked out as i really like nUI and don't want to go back to designing my own UI's again.

Thank you for your awesome support Scott.

If you did a reset, did you remember to go back and turn video sync back off?

Did you ever go back and do a clean install? I know the others have, but didn't know if you had.

I won't say that nUI+ isn't the problem, but there's virtually no difference between it and nUI Pro other than some text strings in the localization file.

*miffed*
