Daily would not complete

I installed nUI+ 5.02.5 today. I moved my "Addons" folder to "Addons.bak". nUI was the only addon used for this test.

WoW ran normally until I tried to finish the Cooking Daily, "Cheese for Glowergold". When I looted the Dalaran Limburger, the bar would appear and it would move from left to right, "Looting". However, it would never complete and my toon would be kneeling forever.

Only reversing the previous actions (Addons.bak to Addons) and not using nUI, allowed me to finish this quest.

I hope this description of symptoms helps in the improvement of the code. If all dailies had similar locks, I wouldn't be able to use nUI.

Thank you, Eldorann / Antonidas

P.S. I have a UI similar to nUI but with a transparent background, so one can see the entire screen. Parts of WoW are obscured by buttons and such but the panoramic experience of a clear background (actionbars and such), instead of solid black, needs to be a nUI option.

Theres a report on the wow forums about this. I don't think this is nUI related as I was having a similar problem simply looting or buying off of vendors with or without addons installed. They have since started a restart of the servers so hopefully that will sort the problem out.

First... if you removed the nUI dashboard, you would find most of the area behind it is a big empty black box because the game viewport has been resized to fill the remaining space, so you're actually missing almost nothing.

Second, nUI has *nothing* to do with looting... that's a Bliz issue they're working on.

Resizing nUI

How can I resize the nUI viewport to include the entire screen?

Entire screen means "entire monitor"

When I say "enlarge the nUI viewport", I mean to enlarge the viewport to the size of the LCD screen. The nUI default is to use only the upper 2/3rds of the screen for the game and the lower 1/3rd for the nUI controls. (Not counting the bit of graphic at the top of the screen with the FPS and such. That should be movable.)

The "bit of graphics at the top" can be hidden using either '/nui console mouseover' or '/nui console off' -- it is not "movable" because it serves as the anchor for bar mods like FuBar and Titan and will serve as the bar background for nUI itself when I add LDB support.

As for the viewport, when I get the full layout engine code in place, you'll be able to do that, for now you can't and I can see no benefit in being able to -- you're either (a) hiding all that extra screen behind the dashboard or just replacing the dashboard with a transparency that will be covered up by all the other things already on the dashboard or eliminating it all and none of those things are intended at this time.

When I get the layout engine in place and the ability to create custom layouts, then you'll be able to do that. Until then I'm afraid it just is what it is.

There must be a way ...

I have a programming background and have looked at your source .lua files.

Not having a good foundation in Lua programming, most is understandable through examination but understanding is not quick.

You must have program statements that resize the viewport. I should be able to edit my nui.lua file and change the port size. I've not been able to find such a statement but am sure it exists.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I still search for such a line.

Thanks,

Eldorann (Antonidas)

P.S. Yes, I have a stubborn streak "a mile wide".

You can wait for scott to answer as im sure he will but if im not mistaken what your trying to do is going to be either impossible or extremely difficult because the way the dashboard is anchored so just increasing the view port will not work because you would be moving the dashboard and everything off the creen. Again I may be wrong but I don't think so... Hope that helps

Thank you and clarification

That was most informative Spiritwulf! Thank you. Up to now, I have not adequately expressed my desires on how to change nUI. The answers to your questions have helped in the summation of my desired UI and how I hope nUI can help.

I want the upper majority of my screen clear for viewing WoW. No frames. None. A scaled, massaged, adjusted, and small portion of the screen should have controls.

This is a picture of my current UI. The bottom is still being configured but it is designed to give maximum screen "real-estate" to WoW. I hope that nUI can take me close to this goal with its unified structure rather than my current mix of random addons.

Thank you for your time, Eldorann - Antonidas

First, Neuralassassin is correct... it's a non-trivial change to alter the viewport which is why I haven't made that change in the code yet myself. At present, changing the viewport moves everything. So that's just not doable at present.

Second, it sounds to me like what you are aiming for is a minimalist UI which, at present, nUI is not... though that will be possible in the future when I complete the layout engine. However, until then, you really are trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole I think.
