I'd like to disable some of nUI's features...

I'm new to nUI and really like it, but I would like to disable some of its features so I can use other addons for those functions. How do I do that?
Without getting into a philosophical debate on the subject, the short anser is, you can't. nUI is one very tightly integrated mod intended to *replace* using a collection of interface mods with a single mod. That has been the design goal of nUI from the first day of its conception to present. And, quite frankly, most of the time the desire to use some other mod to replace an nUI feature is based on either the normal resistance to change we are all guilty of or not knowing how to use nUI's options correctly more than an actual *need* for the other mod.

nUI does *not* support disabling built in features in order to replace them with another mod that does that same thing. Because of how very tightly integrated nUI is, doing so almost always will end up breaking something and having other unintended consequences and that is a support nightmare I'm not interested in getting caught up in.

The better answer is that if you have another mod you want to use in place of the feature built into nUI, I would rather you post me a message in the suggestions forum and tell me what the features are in that mod that you would like to see in nUI... that makes it possible for me to add the "missing" pieces you need (if possible and practical) and thereby improve nUI as opposed to diminishing it by removing functionality.

I do strongly suggest you read this FAQ to get an idea of all of the commands and options nUI already supports... odds are pretty good that one of them addresses your concern... http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=21199

Buffs

Is there a way to disable displaying the buffs? I use healbot and the buffs in a 25 man take up the two sides of the screen and it is really annoying, can that be turned off? also is there a way to integrate healbot to the raid window? I would love to just click on someone and toss them a heal like healbot does. Thanks.

These should be addressed at least in part with version 6. At present the only thing you can do to help with screen real estate is to 1. Download the aura plugin to turn the buffs into icons instead of bars and 2. Use the healbot plugin to hide the healbot window out of sight in the info panel window.

What I found was more useable in a 25 man raid was to drag the heablot window out and place it just above the raid window section itself but, with a bit of design set up you could get 25 buttons to fit inside the info panel a la grid like display.

Once 6.0 comes out you should be able to set the layout out to suit say a healing perspective and that will hopefully give us the importance where we need it.

You can also use the command '/nui maxauras {n}' to set how many buffs you want displayed. I use '/nui maxauras 15' if I have a pet, or, '/nui maxauras 20' if I don't. I do *not* recommend using less than '/nui maxauras 10'

Buffs List

Is there a way to move the 'buff' list thats defaulted right above the chat box? If not, is there a way to set the window size, and make it a scrolling box? Like when you want to change a title and you have the up/down scroll arrows?

And thanks, this looks like a great UI so far!

** Side note,

On the bottom right window that shows the Omen, recount, etc.. How can I split it to show BOTH Omen and Recount (as shown in your screen cap)?

I'm not sure if the aura lists are able to be scrolled in its current design but perhaps in version 6.0 Scott could add that ability. But you can limit the number of auras to display. I think the suggested minimum is something like 15 so /nui maxauras 15 will limit the display of auras.

As to the omen/recount dual display. If you download the dual stats plugin it will display them both at the same time side by side.

If you click on the "nUI: Unit Panel Layouts" section at http://files.nUIaddon.com you'll find an aura buttons plugin there that changes how the auras are displayed. Alternatively, as Xrystal points out, you can use the '/nui maxauras {n}' command (a complete list of nUI's slash command is here: http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=21199 -- I use '/nui maxauras 15' on my hunter and lock (because they have pets) and '/nui maxauras 20' on my other toons.

As for the side by side thread/stats, again as Xrystal points out, you can use the Dual Stats plugin in the "nUI: Info Panel Plugins' section at http://files.nUIaddon.com -- or instead of using Omen3, Recount and the Dual Stats plugin, you can use just Skada which does the job of all three in a single addon.

Maxaura question

Is there a way to disable just your target's auras? I know you can type /nui maxauras 0 to disable all auras but I still want to see mine.
The problem I'm having is when tanking in raids I don't necessarily need to see my target's auras and it seems to be lagging me down a bit (having all the dots, etc. in a 25-man raid).
Thanks in advance.

(I absolutely love the addon by the way. Very well done.)

The auras likely are lagging you a bit. But more likely it's tracking the auras on all of your raid frames that's causing you issues. You might try switching into the solo or party mode raid frame while in combat and see if that helps until I can get nUI6 out the door.

You can, also, limit the number of auras displayed with '/nui maxauras {n}' -- try '/nui maxauras 15' and see if that helps any.

Thanks for the quick response! Yeah I found that switching to party mode did wonders for me. I don't want to reduce my amount of auras because I do like to have awareness of what buffs I have - so there is no way to disable or limit just your targets auras?

Yeah -- you can edit [ Interface > AddOns > nUI > Layouts > Default > UnitPanels > {panel mode} > nUI_UnitSkin_{panel mode}Target.lua ] and locate the ["Aura"] section. You'll see the following table or something similar to it...

Code:
        ["Aura"] =
        {
            [1] =    -- debuffs
            {
                anchor =
                {
                    anchor_pt   = "BOTTOMRIGHT",
                    relative_to = "$parent_Portrait",

                },
            },
        },
Note the two lines I highlighted in blue... that's the width and height of the table of auras. Just change "rows=" to a lower number to reduce how many auras are displayed on the target.

Note that there is one of these tables for every unit frame panel (solo, party, raid10, etc.)

Once again, thanks for the fast response. This should be perfect.

Cheers.

Which "debuff" frame -- the one on you (top left of HUD under your name), the one on the target (top right of HUD under the target name) or the HOT/DOT bar (below the casting bar) or the cooldown bar (below the HOT/DOT bar)?

The only way to get rid of that would be to edit [ Interface > AddOns > nUI > Layouts > Default > HUDLayouts > {hud mode} > nUI_HUDSkins_{hud mode}_Target.lua ] and locate the ["Auras"] section near the bottom of the file. Look for the following section...
[2] = -- debuffs
and set "disabled = false" for that section.

That said, I would strongly discourage disabling the HOT/DOT bar... knowing what spells you have active on the target and how much time remains on each is important.

target debuff aura

I read your post about the code change but i have a problem. When i go to interface in game i dont have a nui opion in there. the only way i can modify Nui is by using comands. Im sure im doing something wrong here, can u help?

I am having the same lag issues but i cant go to parrty mode because im the raid lead. I love this addon and want to keep using it but the targets debuffs need to get cut down a bit.

btw i am using the aura plug-in but i want to be able to see all buffs so i know the raid has everything. so i cant just lowwer the # of both sides

thank you very much for any help u can give me

nUI 5 doesn't have a GUI to change the layout. You use a text editor to adjust the xofs, yofs, size etc .. reload the ui and then see if it did what you wanted. rinse and repeat until you are happy. If it goes wrong just reinstall nUI or keep a copy of the file you change and restore it accordingly.

Version 5.07.27 contains the latest bugfixes.
The thread http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...t.php?p=267112 makes an adjustment missed off of the patch update.
