nUI 6.04.00.06.01 Alpha released...

(v6.04.00.06.01 Alpha Release)

This update was mostly about getting in front of the WoW 4.1 patch, getting "back in the saddle" with nUI6 and some cosmetic things. The full detail of the patch is at the end of the mail. The key thing is that this version of nUI6 should work equally well on the live servers as well as the public test realms. Aside from a TOC update, there are no changes that should be needed on patch day. If you enable the "Load Out Of Date" addons option for the public test realm it should work fine.

In the meantime, all of your feedback is important. I need to hear what you're seeing problems with. If you're not afraid to take test code for a drive around the block, I ask that you download the current nUI6 alpha and try it out.

Here are the things I know don't work...
  • nUI6 does not have info panels yet... you can use Recount, Omen, etc, with nUI6, they just won't go into the info panel space on their own. I hope to have info panels into nUI6 soon(tm)
  • nUI6 does not yet manage the chat frame... you will have to manually unlock the chat frame and drag and size it in the location you want. I expect this to be fixed at the same time the info panels are done. The same applies to the combat log.
  • nUI6 does not have its own aura system. For now, the default Blizzard player and target unit frames are displayed so you can see your buffs and target debuffs. You can, if you so choose, use a third party buff mod with nUI6 until this gets remedied. This is at the top of my to-do list, but a major undertaking... so... yeah.
  • nUI6 does not have its own combo points, rune bar, shard bar, holy power bar or eclipse bar. For now you'll find them on the default Blizzard frames.
  • nUI6 does not have FPS meter or latency meter, but does show latency in the cast bars. You can see memory use, latency and frame rate by mousing over of the computer icon in the micro-menu.
  • nUI6 does not have a location bar under the minimap or server/local time display at this time. Soon(tm)
  • You cannot manually change unit frame panels or HUD modes at this time
  • There is currently no configuration options system implemented as slash commands or GUI.

works just fine the only issue im having atm is the tooltip issue with them getting stuck on target or pet.

Okay so, you're seeing this on live units then, not just dead ones?

Do you have any other mods running, especially tooltip mods? If so, and you disable all except nUI6, does the problem go away? (trying to isolate conflicts here)

I can check again later, but I'm sure when this first popped up, I had tried with nUI6 and nothing else loaded and was still getting this issue. Not entirely sure, but pretty sure.

im about to head to bed (its 2:45am here) but ill disable mi2 (mobinfo 2) and moveanything (i use it to move TT frame) when i get up.

Hi
Looking forward to NUI6 comes into beta.
One questrion;
Wil it in NUI6 be any way to see yust the effects I put on the target?
Eg; then I raid, in NUI5 I see all the effects everyone puts on the bosses, and that make it kinda hard for me to see yust the ones I care about.
(like Rupture, I need to see then it falls off so I can appply a new one)

Same goes for the effects that is on me, eg I find it kinda hard in NUI5 to see yust the ones I realy wana see, like Slice and Dice.

I realy wana like to see them bigger or an way to filter the effects if possible.

Yes... it just hasn't been done in nUI6 yet as the aura system changed with WoW 4.0 and I've yet to have time to figure out how to make it work the way I want.

nUI6 will allow you to customize the entire interface using GUI tools, though I have no doubt it may still be a bit of a tedious process to construct a complete custom interface, it should be easy enough to tweak individual parts like the buffs and debuffs.

Right now the big deal is the auras... which are going to be pretty advanced from what you've seen in nUI to date... it's a lot of work.

Once I get the auras "right" -- then the info panels would be next. On the heal of those, the bag bar and the rest of the indicators on the unit frames.
