PhanxChat: FAQ
This page is intended to answer some common questions about PhanxChat. If you have a question that isn't answered here, feel free to post a comment on the download page.

Q: How does PhanxChat get class information for class coloring?

A: Class colors are registered for everyone on your friends list, in your guild, party, and raid, and everyone you target or mouseover.

Q: Does PhanxChat remember class colors between sessions?

A: No, class colors are not stored between sessions. I feel this is a waste of memory, as anywhere that a class color is important for quick recognition of who's talking (as opposed to just "looking cool"), such as in guild or raid chat, it's already known for that session anyway.

Q: What are "sticky" channels?

A: If a chat type, such as guild, raid, or channel, is "sticky", then after sending a message in that chat type, pressing Enter will automatically open chat in that channel, instead of making you type /g, /ra, or /2 again. Blizzard only made some chat types sticky; PhanxChat makes all chat types sticky (except emotes). If you want to customize which channels are made sticky, see the "Advanced Configuration" section on the Extra Info page.

Q: Where does PhanxChat log chat to?

A: PhanxChat itself doesn't actually log chat. It just automates turning on the Blizzard chat logging feature each time you log in, instead of you needing to remember to type "/chatlog" every session. When chat logging is enabled, chat messages are saved to a text file. The file is only updated when you completely log out or exit the game. You can find it in your World of Warcraft program directory, in the Logs subdirectory, in the WoWChatLog.txt file.
