This page is intended to provide information for those interested in helping to translate Diplomancer for non-English locales.

How Diplomancer works
Diplomancer recognizes your current location and selects a faction to watch according to a data table. The keys and values in this table are the names of zones, subzones, and factions. This means that if the names in the table don't match the names in your game client, Diplomancer won't work.

There are currently two libraries, LibBabble-Faction-3.0 and LibBabble-Zone-3.0, which provide comprehensive lists of translated names for factions and zones. However, no such list exists for subzone names.

For example, the zone Shattrath City is mapped to the faction The Sha'tar. However, within Shattrath City there are five subzones which are mapped to other factions. The subzone Lower City is mapped to the faction Lower City. The subzones Aldor Rise and Shrine of Unending Light are mapped to the faction The Aldor. The subzones Scryer's Tier and The Seer's Library are mapped to the faction The Scryers. (There are also two subzones that share the name Bank, of which one should be mapped to The Aldor, and one to The Scryers, but since their names are identical, there is no way to tell them apart by name, so Diplomancer ignores them.)

How you can help
In order for Diplomancer to work in non-English locales, I need a list of subzone names that match the in-game names for each locale. Further down this page you'll find a list of text strings in this format:

The lines beginning with L are text strings that are shown to users in-game. The translation for "Inactive" much match exactly the in-game text for the Inactive faction group heading. The other translations in this group can be translated however is most natural for your language.

The lines beginning with Z are subzone names, and again, must match those used in-game. Copy and paste them into an empty text file.

For both types of translations, don't alter the English text in the brackets. Instead, add your translated text between the quotation marks at the end of the line. For example, if you were translating into Spanish, you might do:

L["Hello world"] = "Ola mundo"

Please excuse my poor Spanish, but hopefully you get the idea.

Once you have completed at least the subzone translations, save your file as "xxXX.lua", where "xxXX" is the appropriate locale code. European Spanish is "esES", Korean is "koKR", and so forth. Inside the file, at the top, you can add your name, and an email address if you like, so that you get credit for your work.

Please do not use hex escape sequences for non-Latin characters! Instead, save the file with UTF-8 encoding so that these characters are preserved in their normal, human-readable state.
