Leatrix Plus FAQ: General information

General Information
- What is a blind repair?
After launching the game client, the guild funds amount is not known until you successfully repair or visit your guild bank. So a guild repair which is attempted prior to these events has to be done blindly (using guild funds first and then falling back on character funds). All addons (and even the default UI) suffer from this limitation in Blizzard's code.
- How does anchoring the tooltip to the mouse work?
The anchor is the fixed part of the tooltip and offsets are the distance between the tooltip and the mouse pointer. If mouse anchoring is enabled, only gameworld tooltips are anchored to the mouse. UI tooltips are anchored to a fixed point on the screen (you can move them by clicking the ? button next to 'Enable customisation' in the tooltip menu).
- How can I move the configuration panels?
To move the configuration panels (for options such as map customisation), hold down the CTRL key and drag them. Unlike the main options panel, configuration panel positions are not saved between login sessions.
- Is the option to remove raid restrictions against the terms of service?
Of course not. The code that the option uses is part of the standard API which is provided by Blizzard. They don't allow their own API to break the terms of service. That would be pretty silly, would it not?
- Why do most options require a UI reload to invoke?
So that options which you choose not to enable don't take up any resources or cause conflicts with other addons. By and large, if you don't enable a particular option, then that option practically doesn't exist. No hooks, no events, no frames, nothing.
- Why not use Blizzard's addon panel?
Blizzard's addon panel is tightly integrated into the game options panel (they both share the same code) and because of this, taint issues are commonplace if you have ANY addons installed which use it. For this reason, Leatrix Plus uses it's own panel which doesn't taint (even during combat).
- Why not split the addon into many smaller addons?
Leatrix Plus is coded in a rather unique fashion. It uses a feature called code isolation which essentially means that options which are not enabled do not take up resources or cause conflicts. Similarly, all enabled options within the addon work together in perfect harmony with minimal resource usage. Thus, the current addon design should appeal to both minimalist and power users alike and there is no need to split the addon up.
- Can I update Leatrix Plus without restarting the game client?
Generally speaking, yes. Unless otherwise noted in the change log, you can just extract the updated files to the Leatrix Plus folder and reload your UI. The version number shown in the addon may not change but that's only a cosmetic issue, the addon will still be updated and function correctly.
- Will you add options for managing chat spam?
The problem with this is that Blizzard's basic chat filter API is broken (it taints the UI when used) and they don't seem to be too interested in fixing it. If Blizzard ever do fix the bugs in their chat filter API (they know what they are), I shall include some spam filtering options for certain types of messages (such as talent spam) in Leatrix Plus.
- Will you publish Leatrix Plus on another website (such as Curse)?
No. It's far easier for me to keep Leatrix Plus secure, up to date and error free if it's only hosted in one location.
