Got bored a few days back and went and manually updated the list of tameable pet IDs. Might be a few errors in there, though I did try my best to be accurate. Updated list file can be found here, just replace the _NPCScan.TameableIDs.lua file in the _NPCScan add-on folder with that. (If you download off of Pastebin, make sure you remove the .txt from the end to make it a .lua file again.)

When I look in the custom NPC list (Game Menu, Interface, Addons, NPCScan), there is a continent and zone listing. At the bottom, there is a field where I can set the continent, but nowhere is there an option to set the zone that I can find. Is there not a way to do this?

I'd like see an option to suppress alerts while on a taxi flight. While you're on a taxi, you're seeing the world as it exists on your home server, but once you land, you're shifted to another server via the Cross-Realm Zone system, so you are no longer in the same world instance as the rare(s) you saw while flying. :(
Who stops you from leaving the zone and get back to a home server?

 Why would 'who stops you' be a valid question? You enter the zone because (in context) that's where you want to be, to hunt rares. Your decision 'stops you' from leaving the zone. Blizzard 'stops you' from staying on your home server.
I'd like to add that you don't HAVE to delete the "creaturecache.wdb" file each time before starting the game if you simply change the file attribute to "read only" by right-clicking the file and then clicking "Properties" and placing a tick mark in the "Read-Only" box. O

Why didn't I think of this? Brilliant, good sir.

Until I tried it, that is. PEBCAK, I'm sure, but WoW will still overwrite it. I'm using Win7 64, I'm guessing there's an extra step I've overlooked.

Late reply but figured I'd mention that this method worked brilliantly for me (on win7-64 too), the one difference I did do though, is that I used an editor to nuke the contents of the creaturecache.wdb file first, so the file ended up as 0 byte file. Then put read-only protection on it and have lived happily for forever after.

Since the latest mini-patch, 5.1a? I think it is, I've tried deleting my cache and then setting the new one to Read Only. Whenever I do this though it re-downloaded the patch and sets the file back off Read Only.
