There is no splitting option at the moment. However you could select "Show Category Icon" from the buttons tab. This would give you a a larger number of visible buttons (including all those that do not currently have items in them). On the bar tab set up enough rows & columns to split them up the way you would like them. This would take up more space, but give you 2 or 3 rows of buttons.
