Oops! Thats definitely a bug on my side! I'm tracking down another bug in Chatmanager at the moment, so I'll add fixing this one to my list as well (i.e., don't remove the scrolling scripts/mouse wheel enabled status if Chatmanager didn't have to add them ;))

Thanks for the heads up!

Cheers

Hey Cirk,
thx for answer!
There is for example a compatibility issue with my own addon, i built to scroll the chat with the mousewheel (and some other features coupled with this): If i disable the chat-scrolling in chatmanager, it removes the "onmousewheel" scripts from the chat-frames on startup, also the ones my own addon creates at startup (seemingly a little bit earlier)!
Cheers

Hi MichaOmega.

I also like to keep my addons small and singular in purpose (which is why I have so many of them I guess) although if they are popular they do tend to be subject to feature creep over time (especially with pressure from my guildmates to just add one more feature ;)).

That said, most of Chatmanager's features, apart from its basic channel renumbering feature, can be disabled in the options screen, and so it should work just fine with other addons, whether they are chat and scroll addons, etc. If it doesn't work with other addons that you use, please post a bug report for it, and I'll have a look into it (although sometimes its not Chatmanager's fault, but at least I can try and see what is going on, recommend a work-around, contact the author, etc).

As for Chatmanager's size, yes it grew a (little) bit with the latest 1.11 additions, but not by all that much, and certainly from a CPU usage side of things, its far more efficient at what it does than many of the other addons I looked at :)

Cheers
Cirk
PS: Chatmanager always had sticky channels ;)

The Blessings code should automatically skip over Imps who are in phase-shift state (same as it should skip over rogues who are stealthed, if you were doing single-target blessings). I haven't tested that in the recent client versions however, so it might be a bug.

I'll look into it (if I ever get time to work on my addons again ;)

Chatmanager 1.11.2 and 1.11.3 should automatically make the first chat tab (General) the default when you log in Flarin, to work around the bug in the 1.11 client patch that makes your last chat tab the default instead. (I have multiple chat tabs too for all the channels I don't want spamming my general one when I'm busy doing other things :)).

I probably won't add a feature to allow a user selectable chat tab to be focussed on loading however.

Cheers

The weird thing is that I very seldom crash. I am losing these channels upon disconnects (wireless connection going dead). And it's not as if I lose channels that I have joined since my last logout or console reload. I lose my regular channels that I've been sitting in for days.

So as long as I can save a set of channels to Chatmanager's savevariables.lua, I'm fairly certain that data is safe. And even if I crash, I'd only lose new channels I save since the last logout.

Regardless of whether you add this feature in the future, thanks for your great mod and quick responses to lowly endusers!

nil value error - Hi teedog. For the most...

Hi teedog. For the most part I intended Chatmanager to sit as a sort of shell over the top of the WoW client's own channel management code, and didn't plan on having it reconnect to a previous set of channels automatically. (I guess I wanted the user to be able to disable Chatmanager, change things, then re-enable Chatmanager and have it behave in a predictable fashion). Thats not to say that Chatmanager couldn't do it though, especially since it pretty much already has the internals it needs for it already just to handle password protected channels correctly :).

As a solution that'd only work if we can assume the same crash that lost you your channels wouldn't also wipe Chatmanager's own settings as well.

Of course, strictly speaking you shouldn't lose anything on a disconnect (although I guess you may do so on a crash). I've not yet (touch wood) had problems with my channel settings through many a disconnect and crash, although I've lost other settings before.

One thing you could do as a half-way solution (assuming I don't implement a solution in Chatmanager, or don't get around to doing it for a long time) is make a copy of the chat-cache.txt file for your character once you have everything set up the way you like it. There is one chat-cache.txt file for each of your characters, and the file lives in your WTF account directory, under the server name and character name sub-directories. For example WTF\Account\...\Doomhammer\Cirk\ would be where I'd find Cirk's chat-cache.txt file. This file contains all the chat settings for your character, including which channels you are on, what chat tabs you are using, sizes and positons, what chat/combat/spell events go to each tab, etc. Then if you crash and lose your settings, you can just restore that file and it should all be good to go. Well, apart from Chatmanager forgetting your channel settings itself, which would probably happen when you log back in to discover your chat settings have been lost.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion
Cirk
