Getting Things Healed  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.5.3
by: Dagma [More]

Getting Things Healed
A compact healing assignment manager

QUICKSTART: Access the configuration dialog with /gth. Use /gth help for other slash commands.

v2.5.3 - Fixed the heal! whisper bug. It works again.

To use the options menu, instead of just text commands, you'll need some addon that provides LibDataBroker feeds. I suggest Fortress, but there are many others that would also work fine.

Getting Things Healed
--a compact healing assignment manager

v2.3.0

** Overview **

Getting Things Healed (GTH) provides a point-and-click interface for making healing assignments in a raid environment.

Use the text command /gth to open the configuration window.

** Managing Healing Assignments **

First, decide how many phases are in the fight. For each phase, you can make up to 8 named assignments. Each assignment can be a specific target to heal---a tank or group---or strategy---such as "raid healing."

You then pick the healers you want on each assignment. The healer name pool at the bottom of the GTH frame shows all available healers in the raid. Drag any of these names to a assignment box above, to assign any healer to any assignment. Healers already assigned to any assignments in the current phase will appear dimmed, but they can still be drug to another assignment.

Sets of phases and assignments and chosen healers are together "presets." Each preset can be saved and loaded at any time. When a preset is saved, the phase and assignment structure is saved, as well as the names, classes, and talent specs of each chosen healer. When that preset is later loaded, healers are slotted into the assignment structure using (1) matching healer names, (2) matching healer class and talents, (3) matching class only, and finally (4) any remaining healer in the raid. In this way, you can use your saved presets as templates, and GTH will populate the template with the healers in your raid, matching as closely as possible the saved healer classes and talent specs.

The current set of assignments and phases saves when you close the window. So in the event of a crash, the set will be available when you reload the game.

** Talent Scanning **

GTH automatically scans your raid for talents. It uses talents to filter the list of available healers. You can turn off talent filtering---in case you suddenly want your Elemental Shaman to heal for one fight, for example---by toggling "Filter healers by talents" in the option menu (gear icon along the bottom row).

If a member of your raid changes talent spec during the raid, you can force GTH to re-scan talents the Rescan command in the options menu.

Scanned healers will have talent specialization tree icons next to their names, as well. Uninspected healers will display a '?' icon. You can toggle these icons on and off from the options menu.

Wait a second, while hovering over any healer in the available pool, to see values of inspected talents.

** Broadcasting Healing Assignments **

The channel menu at the bottom-left of the GTH window allows you to select the method of announcing healing assignments. You can choose the raid channel or any joined custom channel (with a channel number of /5 or above).

GTH throttles broadcast messages, so that you don't trigger the anti-spam features of the WoW servers. If you have a long list of assignments, you will observe a delay before they complete broadcasting. This is normal.

You can also choose to announce assignments via whispers. Whisper broadcasts send individual healer assignments, not the entire set.

Healers can also send a whisper of 'heal!' or 'heal! all' at any time, to receive an individual assignment list or the full set of assignments, respectively.

If the SHIFT key is held when the 'Broadcast' button is clicked, GTH will broadcast assignments from only the currently displayed phase, not the entire set of phases.

You can also use the command '/gth broadcast' to macro broadcasting. You can append a comma-separated list of phase names. This will allow you to broadcast only some of the phases. For example, '/gth broadcast aphase, anotherphase' will broadcast the assignments for aphase and anotherphase, but no other phases (if they exist).

** Death and Disconnect Announcements **

In the options menu, you can toggle death announcements on and off. If announcements are on, when a healer dies, an announcement will appear in the broadcast channel (or be sent out via whispers) that informs other healers of the dead healer's name and assignments. Priests with Spirit of Redemption will send out death announcements when Spirit of Redemption begins, and then a final short "really dead now" message when Spirit of Redemption expires.

Disconnects can be announced in the same way, also via a toggle in the options menu.

** Assignment Name Wildcards **

The wildcards %MT1, %MT2, %MT3, etc. are provided for pulling main tank names from oRA or the default WoW interface (/mt). If you put the string '%MT1' in the name of any healing assignment, when you broadcast the assignment, the name of the first main tank in oRA will be substituted in place of this string. The default main tank assignments in the assignment menu use this same wildcard system, but you can rename them to add notes about each tank. For example, the assignment name '%MT1 west flame tank' will broadcast as '(Felorix) west flame tank' if Felorix is assigned as the first oRA main tank.

** Other Options and Commands **

Use '/gth help' for a list of commands. Be sure to check the options menu for additional preferences and commands. '/gth reset' will do a hard reset of saved preferences.

** Localization **

GTH has translations for French, German and Spanish clients.

v1.0.0 - First public release.

v1.1.0 - Added one more main tank (MT5) to basic assignment list. Added phase and assignment sorting, both in menus and broadcasts/replies. Added brief whisper reply message format; whispers now return full report only with 'heal! all'. Added player preset saving/deleting. Fixed phase renaming (it works now). Added talent inspection.

v1.1.1 - Minor patch. (1) Fixed whisper reply reporting, so healers not explicitly assigned will still be told about "all remaining" assignments. (2) Fixed oRA main tank assignments so that they automatically grab MT names from oRA during reporting, even if names not explicitly in assignments (MT1, MT2, etc.). (3) New assignments are sequentially numbered, so you can now make several before you rename them. (4) Saving presets uses most recently loaded preset name as default save name, in the editbox. (6) Localization infrastructure in place, and first-pass deDE included. (7) Improved talent scanning, by moving out-of-range targets to end of queue. (8) Added "Cancel" button to "Save as" dialog. (9) Formatting changes to reports, to make them easier to read. (10) Various minor bug fixes.

v1.1.2 - (1) Added frFR translations! (2) Some minor bug fixes to whisper reports and talent scanning. (3) Polls default UI main tanks, if oRA tanks not available. (4) Healer selection menus now stay open after selecting an individual healer's name. (6) Replaced "Raid" and "Channel" broadcast buttons with a menu that allows raid, channel, whisper. This also removes that awful text box for channel. (7) Use 'Rescan talents' at bottom of healer menu to force a rescan of all talents. (8) When loading a preset, current preset is saved to a buffer, so it can be reloaded using the "Previous preset" command in the preset menu. This allows one undo a preset load, to reload trash assignments between boss fights, or otherwise work back and forth between two assignment sets.

v1.1.3 - Bugfix for frFR and deDE custom assignment naming.

v1.1.4 - (1) Hopeful bugfix: Rare error when members leave the raid. (2) Maintank wildcard naming: Assignments containing the text %MT1 will substitute the name of main tank 1. (3) Made naming boxes auto-focus and highlight.

v1.2.0 - (1) Preset auto-fill system added. Saved presets remember (a) healer names, (b) healer class/spec, and (c) count. On preset load, GTH tries to fill assignments in that priority, matching specific healer names first, trying to find a healer of same class-and-spec next, and finally filling remainder with any healer up to the number required. (2) Broadcast button sends assignments for currently displayed phase only, on shift-click. (3) Icons added to indicate different priest healing specs. (4) '/gth broadcast' command added, so broadcasts can be macro'd. See the "About GTH.txt" file for details.

v1.2.1 - fixed preset-load talent-test bug.

v1.2.2 - (1) Feature: Optional auto-broadcast when an assigned healer dies. Broadcast announces death and dead healer's assignment. Spirit of Redemption aware (priests sometimes die twice). (2) Bugfix: Whisper broadcasting works again. (4) Bugfix: Priest talent spec icons more flexible and accurate now.

v1.2.3 - (1) Added Spanish localization. (2) Bugfix: Default-UI maintank names works again.

v1.3.0 - Updated for WoW 3.0.

v1.4.0 - New features: (1) Broadcasting turns off automatic death broadcasts from other raid members with GTH. This stops death spam from multiple people. (2) Simple assignment sharing. Control-click on Broadcast button copies preset to other raid members who have GTH. (3) Arbitrary ordering of phases now possible. Use the up/down commands in the phase menu to move the currently displayed phase up or down in the list of phases. (4) Options menu consolidates context-free GTH options and provides some new ones. It is the little gear icon just left of the presets menu. (5) Verbose/concise broadcast modes added. Use the Options menu to toggle. (6) Disconnects announced in same manner as deaths. Uses a separate toggle. (7) New preset system, moving built-in presets to optional external add-ons. (8) Channels with number less than /4 should display in channel list now.

v1.4.1 - Bugfix release. (1) Fixed disconnect event typo. (2) Fixed odd occasional phase delete bug.

v2.0.5 - Total drag-drop conversion release. Drop-down menus are gone. These are replaced by a pool of drag-able phase/assignment/healer names. These can be dragged to the assignment targets, located where the drop-down menus used to be. Once there, drag them among the assignments at will. Both phases and assignments can be re-ordered by dragging them among the boxes. The displayed order will be used in broadcasts.

v2.0.6 - (1) Fixes for main tank wildcarding (%MT#). Can use more than one in same string now, e.g. "%MT1 and %MT2" substitutes both tank names in. Also now doesn't catch "MT" without the "%" in front. (2) Added reset slash command, "/gth reset", that wipes saved variables, in case they get corrupted. (3) Death and disconnect announcements only fire for healers assigned explicitly. Just being available isn't enough. (4) Improved handling of long broadcast strings.

v2.0.7 - (1) Sets session broadcast flag to false initially. Thus you won't get any death or disconnect announcements until you broadcast at least once. (2) Added Death Knight talent tree icons. (3) Bugfix: using "/gth reset" after having a multi-phase preset caused a table corruption. Fixed.

v2.1.0 - Update for patch 3.1.

v2.2.1 - Scans dual talent specs now. If a player has a tank or healer spec in either slot, that player will show in the relevant list.

v2.3.1 - Fixed assignment sharing, hopefully. ADDED: You can shift-click presets menu to filter out presets that don't contain the current zone name. This is an easy way to make the menu easier to use, during raids. Just include the zone name (shown in the preset menu) when you save the preset. Then once you are back in the zone, you shift-click the menu to show only those presets that match the zone.

v2.3.2 - Roster of tanks/healers saves and accumulates across raids. This makes planning assignments more convenient. Use the command in the option menu to reset this roster. Filtering only uses current spec, now, instead of both primary and secondary specs.

v2.3.3 - Right-click populate pool to remove from roster (when not in a raid) or rescan talents (when in raid).

v2.3.4 - Version stamp update for patch 3.2.x.

v2.4.0 - Added auto-detection of talent spec swaps. Bugfix for DE localization.

v2.5.0 - Minor update to work with game patch 4.0.1.

v2.5.3 - Fixed the heal! whisper bug.

I can't replicate this at all. Did you delete the saved variables from (Account name)/SavedVariables/ or rather from (Account name)/(Server)/(Character)/SavedVariables/ ?

Do both, if not.

I get this error when I have both mods enabled, and inspect someone via Examiner. I don't have to be in a raid/group for this to pop up (and the target doesn't have to be in my group). I don't think this error comes up when I have Examiner open and GTH is scanning talents... the trigger seems to be the manual inspect.

You can turn on the verbose option, which lists things on multiple lines. I found that my healers prefer this option as it is easier to see who is assigned to whom.

I stumbled across this mod the other night and I'm really enjoying it, but I'm having a few issues.

I don't like to check the "filter on talents" for a number of reasons. I do REALLY like the "Announce on death" & "Announce on disconnect" options. Unfortunately, I found that there is a bit of an oddity if I don't check the "filter on talents" option.

I should have taken a screenshot so I could show this a bit better, but here goes:
- uncheck filtering
- check announce on death
- check announce on disconnect
- specifically assign people to tank 1, tank 2 and raid healing
- someone that is not in one of the assignment boxes dies or disconnects
- announcement goes out to the broadcast channel

If I had set "all remaining" I could see this happening, but specifically setting the healing assignments, I didn't quite expect this nor was it welcomed when I saw the healing channel get hit with messages about our Enhancement & Elly shammies and our token ret noob dying.

Anyway to address this? Thanks for the great mod!

Great addon, a few things though:
some of them are mentioned before, i just want to sum it up

- send to a chanel sometimes does not work, when the output ist to long
could be worked around with more lines

- Assignement output with more structure (lines) not only could fix the problem above but would also enhance readability a lot

- as i would like to prepare heal assignement before invite it would be great to edit the healers, liek work with the realname

This addon is really coming along great! Just a few minor things...

Can the healing assignments be sorted in the Presets menu? They currently show up in... no real order I can see.

The "verbose" whisper settings are a bit too wordy (enough that chat throttling will kick in); could be condensed into one or two lines, I think:
"Your healing assignment is ____"
"Whisper 'heal!' for full assignments"

On the other hand, the "terse" channel message is kind of hard to read. If each assignment could be separated by a newline, that would be perfect!

Finally, getting the following error message when I inspect ppl using the Examiner addon (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a.../examiner.aspx)

Try deleting the saved settings for it. Might be some unusual saved prefs problem.

Thanks for the info.

I've got the same problem in one of my add-ons and I figured it was something they changed and there was a new method of hooking popup menus that I didn't know about.

I doubt they'll fix it in 3.0.3, but as you say, we'll see :-)

I just checked, no change, same problem in 3.0.3, they didn't fix it.

Another (minor) templating bug: It won't let me write "MT: %MT1" as the name of an assignment. I'm guessing that your replacement function is matching the first MT, not finding a number and giving up.
