StellarBars  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 5.1.001
by: totalpackage [More]

StellarBars is an action bar mod that modifies WoW's default action bars. This is for those who like the basic action bars, but just want to tweak it a bit. Look elsewhere if you want more.

YouTube Intro

Current features:

  • Reskinned the textures in order to have more of the "mod" look
  • Custom button skin support using ButtonFacade
  • Slightly altered the default layout (relocated experience bars)
  • Option to adjust opacity, scale, and position
  • Option to change font
  • Maybe reduced the CPU usage
  • Out-of-range and out-of-mana button recoloring
  • Right-click self-cast

How to use:
  • Options: "/stellarbars", see interface options, or click the micro-buttons background (several options may not take full effect until after a login/reloadui)
  • More skins: install ButtonFacade and any skin of your choice

Recently, I had some requests for donation info, so here it is. Do not feel obligated; donations (or lack of) will not determine what features I do or do not implement.

Vehicle bar

I just installed this addon last night to give it a try in an effort to get away from Bartender4.

The issue I had this morning was while doing the Drake Hunt daily quest at Coldarra in Northrend. If my drake died during the quest I was auto-ejected but my bars did not change back to normal, the vehicle commands itself were gone but the bars stayed in vehicle format, meaning just five huge buttons instead of reverting back to normal.

I had to mount up on my own flyer and get a new drake and if I ejected myself manually the bars reverted back to normal.

So anyhow, if you eject yourself from the vehicle manually the bars revert back to normal but if you are auto-ejected because the vehicle "died" as it were, the bars don't fix themselves.

Can you look in to this please, otherwise I will have to go back to Bartender4. If I get auto-ejected and my bars don't change back to normal -- this could cause a big problem if I have no way to get a new vehicle especially if I am stuck in the middle of combat in the mean time and can't use or access my spell bars

EDIT: I too, like the person below me would like an option to resize the fonts on the buttons of the action bars. Thanks

If I am not mistaken I think I read that you were trying to keep this addon very basic and small but would it be out of the question to request the ability to put the right action bar1 and right action bar2 in horizontal layout? Instead of default vertical I'd like to lay them horizontally and stick them at the bottom of screen.

I used that quest dozens of times to test StellarBars and have not ran into that issue. Did you try running SB by itself to see if you still get that problem?

You're definitely will not be happy going from Bartender to SB. SB is meant for people coming from Blizzard bars. I've heard people loved Dominos as a replacement to Bartender.

No I didn't try StellarBars by itself and I didn't think I would have too, I mean, StellarBars is only addon I have that affect the action bars.

I tried Dominoes before and it's still buggy. I am wanting to go back to the "basics" but with features like yours such as no griffon images, ability to move them etc. Bartender4 is a heavier addon.

You didn't respond to my other things, such as changing font size or ability to lay the right action bars horizontally.

Thanks.

I did respond to this by saying that you won't be happy with SB.

For the vehicle bar, make sure you can see script errors.

I don't get error messages, it just doesn't revert to normal.

And no you still didn't answer me and I see now you have no intention on doing so, so nevermind.

A polite person would just say they didn't want to add additional features and leave it at that, they wouldn't reply in the manner that you did about it.

I won't be coming back and I'll gladly drop use of this addon and any recommendation of it.

Have a nice life.

I said make sure you can see script errors, not if you get any. I had many cases where users report problems but didn't enable displaying script errors. Also, you're being so sure that it's not an addon conflict. How am I suppose to help?

I did answer; it's a simple implication. It's like asking someone if the movie has nudity, and they replied with "You'll be disappointed". That's an implied answer.

And you talk as if I'm losing a customer. I'm writing addons for free and dealing with users for free. Also, practice what you preach about politeness and save the sarcasm.

+2 for vehicle bars not reverting after dismount, although it happens to my wife more than it happens to me... perhaps it's because she's losing her vehicles, as indicated below by another poster.

Usually a /reloadui fixes it, but she still ends up cursing the monitor during the reload. I'll do some testing later to see if I can replicate the issue consistently. (with and without other addons)

We have nothing else that effects the action bars, other than OmniCC, but that doesn't necessarily mean it can't be a conflict.

We play with lua errors enabled, and it's never produced one for this particular issue. Will let you know if I can figure out anything further to add.

I've pulled several drakes and lost my vehicle several times, and I can't reproduce the error. I can only test this on a priest. Which classes are you two using? Also, really make sure this happens with no other mods installed since an addon tainting the vehicle bar is most likely the cause.

She's playing a DK and seems to have the error quite often. I'm on a hunter, and have only really seen a problem once, maybe twice.

I tried replicating myself, but also had no luck. Maybe it's a DK thing? I haven't been able to really test on her account yet, because she's always playing when I am, and she doesn't have the patience for me to stand behind her making her lose her vehicle.

I thought it might be an issue with classes with a controllable pet, but I just leveled a DK up to when you get the flying vehicle, got the ghoul pet talent, and intentionally let the vehicle die several times while in combat; no problems occurred. I'm left to think it's an addon conflict.

I believe that's a Blizzard bug caused when addons use the dropdown menu API.

Your focus frame is most likely offscreen or behind something. Try this:
Code:
/script FocusFrame:ClearAllPoints() FocusFrame:SetPoint("CENTER")

Just thought I'd let you know... I've been using the default bars for a bit now, and even those sometimes do not restore properly after being forcibly ejected from a vehicle.

Is the author still working on this addon?

... the reason I'm asking is that this actionbar addon is the one causing the least problems on my system for the moment. However, there are two things that I find very annoying about it;

The Short Version of it:
I need to remove the bag-bar and micromenu.

The Detailed Version of it;
I have my UI set up as a 'minimalist' type of layout. This means I run the game in low resolution but with high antialias to get good picture quality as well as high frames per second. But the thing is, low screen resolution makes the elements of any UI a little bulky and I use 2 chat windows that are located in lower left and lower right corner of the screen.
Unfortunately I can't use 2 chatwindows like that with Stellarbars because there is a horrid waste of screen space with this particular addon for the simple reason that I can't turn off the pointless bagbar and micromenu.
I never ever klick on those buttons, I use keyboard shortcuts to access anything form bags to micromenu items. This addon would be perfect for my way of playing if only I could get rid of those annoying things hanging waaaay out to the side where I want the second chatwindow and damagemeter to sit, not a long bar with a dozen buttons I never use.

I've tried every other actionbar addon available here on wowinterface as well as curse site that are somewhat up to date. But all of them either generate a lot of errors or mess with my default keybindings, or in some cases simply don't look the way I want them to.

Yours is the nicest one so far with the least errors and glitches, except for the bags and micromenus sitting there completely needlessly.

is there a way I can modify the LUA somewhere to throw those away?
If so, I'll need rather noobish instructions for I have no clue about LUA or XML coding to be honest.
