Stuf Unit Frames (and Raid)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 9.2.101
by: totalpackage, Uitat

Stuf is a replacement to StellarUF. Stuf has the same initial layout and feel of StellarUF, but Stuf is highly customizable.

Do not expect much since this mod's purpose is to replace the Blizzard's main unit frames, not other unit frame mods. I'll most likely deny requests to copy random features.

Noteworthy Recent Additions:

  • Option to only show custom text on mouse-over
  • Latency indicator for player casting bar
  • Arena Frames
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icons
  • Option to use Lua instead of text patterns for advanced users
  • Option to save per character

Supported Units:
  • Player, pet, and pet target
  • Target, target of target, and target of target of target
  • Focus and target of focus
  • Party with their pets and targets
  • Arena with their pets and targets (new in v3.1.005)
  • StufRaid - main raid, raid pets, and raid roles (tanks/assist) and their target and target of target (does not and will not support oRA2/CTRA MT/PT)

Notable Features:
  • Easy transition from Blizzard default frames
  • Cast bars for the main units
  • Dispellable debuff visual
  • Target and focus timer bars for your buffs/debuffs
  • Threat bars on target and focus
  • Shaman totem timers, Death Knight rune bars, and Druid mana bar
  • Low memory and CPU usage compared to popular unit frame mods
  • Customization similar to Discord Unit Frames
  • LibSharedMedia-3.0 support for textures and fonts
  • Ace3 dialog config is used for the options GUI
  • Stuf_Range - LibRangeCheck-2.0 support for estimated distance on target and focus
  • Clique support for click-casting
  • ClassColors custom class color and ConfigMode support for one-button-config
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icon skins (may be buggy)

How to Use:
  • Basic - make sure Stuf_Options is enabled; it's required for initializing defaults and changing settings
  • Options menu - "/stuf" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
  • Hide party in raid - Stuf obeys Blizzard's option to "Hide Party Interface in Raid"
  • Show/Hide elements - many are hidden/shown by setting the alpha or color alpha to zero
  • Slider nudging - (bug Ace3 people for a better way), I do the following:
    1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
    2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
    3. Left-click.
    4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
    5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.
  • For sliders, you can also manually input values and press enter.
  • Many options, so I suggest checking each option one-by-one
  • StufRaid:
    • Options menu - "/stufraid" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
    • Basic - StufRaid does not require Stuf, and Stuf does not require StufRaid
    • Special text - install UTF8 to support special characters for the name text sub-string feature

Features Lacking (forever):
  • No profiles, but you can save per character. Profiles would at least double the memory usage (plus more for each profile you create) of Stuf due to its massive saved variables. Check out Reflux to add profiles options to Stuf and other mods.
  • Showing raid instead of party frames when in a party.
  • Advanced buff/debuff filtering for main units.
  • Switching frames when in vehicle
  • Full-featured casting bar (no GCD, breathe, cooldowns, etc)
  • Anything that would really kill performance and lack usefulness
  • Anything for which already has a great standalone mod
  • Anything picky about text that can be done using Lua text
  • Color health bars if mob is tapped

Known Issues:
  • You cannot right-click Stuf's player buff icon to cancel shape-shift forms (ie. druid forms and shadow form) since they're protected now.

I'm looking for a little help writing a couple tags. If anyone has some experience with it and could help me out it would be great. I'm looking for 2 things specifically right now, to utilize the blizzard aggro monitor and have it display as a tag through my player frame text rather than the aggro bars, and to colour power text by type in all frames. Let me know if you have some ideas i can try out or if you know what will work, pm's work best for me, thanks.

The tags for Stuf are pretty straight forward. You have color, info and conditional tags. There is an in game check box on the text tags that brings up the various parameters for each set.

Example tags:

[solid_ifnot_oor:name] this will cause the name of the frames owner to appear in your chosen (default) color if they are in range. Best paired with an oor color tag in the same text tag to see a difference. If not paired the name will simply disappear if the target is out of range.

[powerdark_if_afk:I'm AFK] will show the words I'm AFK in a dark version of your power color (dark blue for a mana user by default for example) if the target is indeed afk. You could use an info conditional instead. Since I'm AFK is not a true conditional it will just simply display the text.

The one i use for my target frame is as follows:

[solid_ifnot_oor:name][powerdark_if_oor:name][gray_if_tapped:name]

What this will do is show my targets name in regular white text if its in range. Dark blue if OOR and grey if its tapped. To be honest i havent had a chance to fully test this one as i wrote it late last night then passed out at my desk and only just got home from work =P.

If anyone has any additional questions or needs help writing a tag id be glad to help in pm's. After using the pitbull dotgtags set up extensively im thoroughly enjoying the ease of tags for Stuf.

I was testing on just the target frame and my target was visible in the distance (tested the on the priest guy in stormwind cathedral area) but im glad you were able to find the error. ill give it a go and post back if i find anything else.

Thanks again for the hard work and prompt replies =)

EDIT: Just retested and the issue is still there.

To elaborate on what i did to recreate it. Updated to current version.

Disabled all addons but Stuf. Went to dalaran this time and targeted the treeform vendor near the alliance portal room.

Cast renew while backing up a few steps each time until i got the out of range message from the game. Targets name was still white at this point.

Did /console reloadui Waited for the game to reload and targetted the same npc without moving. The name was now dark blue as it should be and cast renew to confirm i was OOR. Moved forward a few step and it turned white again and recast to confirm distance was indeed in range.

Exited the game and logged back in repeating the same test on players just to see if it was an NPC issue and achieved the same results.

EDIT 2: Finally got the time to test in the field out of a city. Went to borean tundra and went after woolly rhinos. Range checking isnt working at all in the test. All targets show up as white regardless of range. Tested on several mobs all with the same result.

Changed the tag for color to simply gray just in case some of the mobs did not have a power type with the same result.

If there is any tests you would like me to try to help out just let me know.

Still yet to see this happen. Only thing I can think of is that when I was testing settings, the background color of the VH bar may cause confusion, but I doubt that's the problem.

Tested with only stuf running (using latest version) and the issue is consistent. I always have to reloadui ui for the range coloring to work.
It seems the problem occurs when a group member is not "visible" and, therefore, considered to be unassistable (if that's a word) and bypasses oor checking. Either the unit is currently not visible or was not visible, and this occurred for you, right? Well, this should be fixed in 3.1.010.

This response is for the general public (not directly at you), but I've answered this several times in these comments (I don't expect people to read them, but...) and I've posted the instructions in the addon description. People didn't bother reading that, so I've added in-game tips (first wall of text seen when opening Stuf options), and I even said that no one will still read them, which is apparently true. Anyway, read addon description or in-game tips.

Thank you for your help, since this is the best I can do it shall have to work

It seems to be working so far, so the tip is a good one!

I have it telling me OOR, but it isn't working correctly; at least for me. Example: Healer is standing less than 5 yards from me and it's telling me he is OOR, but yesterday one of my group "hearthed" to Ebon Hold and yet it never declared him OOR.

Also do you have any intention of implementing these features?

Ran in to a small issue.

When setting a tag for name text as follows:
[solid_ifnot_oor:name][powerdark_if_oor:name]

It doesnt function when i first log in. If i reload ui after i log in it works as intended. White if in range dark blue out of range.

Tested with only stuf running (using latest version) and the issue is consistent. I always have to reloadui ui for the range coloring to work.

In reference to visual heal bars being too big:

Apparently I had both Stuf_VisualHeal and Stuf_IncomingHeals enabled, which caused the majority of the problems. However, sometimes it will still show that my Nourish will heal a 40k hp tank to full when he's at like 10k hp which is so totally wrong I can't help but laugh. Still not sure what it is, I'll keep looking around

I'm also noticing VisualHeal bars that are roughly twice as big as they should be. I'll do some testing tomorrow to figure out if it's an addon conflict or a setting I have messed up
