MoveAnything enables you to move, scale, hide and adjust transparency of just about any screen element in WoW, offering tools to help you customize your UI. Some other frame modifications is also possible using MA's Frame Editors(introduced in 11.b2).
Type /move to show the main window or click the button below the game menu. This main window contains a list of Blizzard's frames(any element not in the list can be added to the Custom Frames category by either /move frameName, /hide frameName or one of the move/hide keybindings).
Maintained by Wagthaa of Earthen Ring EU since the pre-WotLK patch. Kudos to Skrag(original author), Jason(vanilla mod) & Vincent(tbc) for earlier versions.

I was hoping someone could help me out. First off I like to say I love this add-on. With that said, I hate how they attached everything to the mini-map so when you move the mini-map everything moves with it. I like to keep my mini-map in the bottom corner of my screen, so with the help of this add-on I was able to move some of the stuff that was attached to the bottom of the mini-map to somewhere else on my screen. Which brings me to my question. I can't seem to find out how to move some of the stuff that's attached to the mini-map. Like I said I have my mini-map in the bottom corner, and just the other day I had found out that in the Gunship battle their are health bars like mini-unit frames to show both the Gunship's health attached to the mini-map. I had no idea they where their until I was told about them because I had the mini-map push to the bottom of the screen. I've been trying to find these frames so I can move them with MoveAnything! but I can't seem to locate them on the add-on. Where are they at? Also, can anyone tell me what everything is that is attached to the mini-map? I'm sure something is attached to it that I don't know of. I managed to un-attach the Quest/Achievement trackers, the PvP bar (when you capture a base/flag), The vehicle frame (shows which seat your in) and Durability. Did I miss anything else? I already feel like a noob because I didn't even know there was a health bar attached to the mini-map for the Gunship Battle. Thanks for any future help.

I'm down to a couple priority items on my list, that I hope to get sorted quickly as soon as the EU servers are back up.
Then release testing will begin. Hoping to have it uploaded in 1-2 days tops, though it may very well vary depending on how the frontal sinusitis that's currently infecting me behaves. Also a heads up or early warning for the upcoming release: Due to changes made to the data format in -10 it will no longer be possible to downgrade the installation to an older version. If this might be an issue for you back up your WoW\WTF\Accounts\<AccountName>\SavedVariables\MoveAnything.lua file prior to installing -10. |

I figured it out last night though, all I had to do was to remove the frames entries from Blizzards UIPARENT_MANAGED_FRAME_POSITIONS list when hooking them and I no longer needed the dirty hooks to keep them in place during combat(which oddly enough wasn't causing taint, only exiting a Vehicle did ). However I just downloaded FF, searched the code and didn't find any reference to that list so there must be another way of doing it too, if the very issue wasn't being caused by MA itself something I initially suspected but tossed aside when I was unable to verify. |

I was a long time user of MoveAnything! that only switched away during the period MA went without a maintainer (before you took over).
The "other" generic frame mover (FluidFrames) does allow me to reposition and scale the default Blizz actionbars as well as pet|shapeshift|vehicle bars without causing taint (console taintLog 1 and \Logs\taint.log is clean). I'm not posting to compare, just to say that it is possible so don't give up MA and FF are different enough despite they cover the "same" general functionality that users will be happy to have 2 fully working movers. (I know I have many times considered switching back if only for the ability to do /ma <frame> and catch those hard to track frames you know the name of but are not normally visible). Keep up the good work. |

Having spend many hours over the last several days toying around with protected frames in general, and ability bar related frames in particular, it's starting to dawn on me that it's simply impossible use the standard blizzard bars and locking them to new positions without causing taint.
Getting a bit technical the problem is that during combat, some frames (shapeshift bar, bottom left and right bars) are repositioned by blizzard and also much more so when a vehicle is exited and the animation takes over. The later ends up calling the very methods I got to take over, so if I hook them the old school way it causes taint. At the same time hooking the functions the secure way is insufficient, as I won't be able to reposition them again till combat ends. Will spend a bit more time trying to get around it, but in the end I might have to give up and simply either disable moving the ability bars, and thus require people to use another addon for their bars, or code my own implementation to include in MA. Neither sits well with me, though the first option sits better than the latter mostly cause I figure most users are using a bar mod anyway. I thought I'd run it by you guys and gals, the users, first for input and feedback. So please do write your thoughts! I'll be hard at work in the mean time trying to find a way around it and of course fixing other stuff as well. Edit: Forgot to mention that the player unitframe also is affected by this.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm working on an update.
Still have lots on my todo list so it's a bit off yet. I'll reply to questions when done or in the unlikely event that I'll be at a comp and unable to code. Sorry for this but getting -10 ready has priority at the moment. |
