Critline  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.7.0
by: Lombra [More]

Original concept by Sordit. Rewritten by Uggh and Feyde, now maintained (and pretty much re-rewritten) by me.

Critline is an addon that will remember your highest hits and crits (including heals and pet attacks), and display them in a fairly simple tooltip. It sports many features by default, including filtering, a standalone frame, splash on new record and more. All this can be disabled if you just want the basic functionality. Read on for more info!

Features

Filters
The filter module lets you control what you record and what you show.
It comes with integrated aura and mob filters, for those known auras/mobs that may mess up your records. You can also add custom entries.
The spell filter lets you choose which spells you will be notified upon breaking their records, and will show up in tooltips.

This module can be disabled by deleting filters.lua in your Critline folder.

Splash
The splash module, when enabled, will display a message on your screen whenever you break a record. You can choose to use the default style, or have the messages make use of your combat text addon of choice.

This module can be disabled by deleting splash.lua in your Critline folder.

Display
The display module allows for easy access to all your records. It will show the normal and crit record of each tree, and when you hover over the frame, it will show you a tooltip with all the records.

This module can be disabled by deleting display.lua in your Critline folder.

Minimap
The minimap module provides easy access to the options. Right click it to show the config frame, and left click it to toggle the display frame.

This module can be disabled by deleting minimap.lua in your Critline folder.

Announce
This module allows you to let people know of your records. You can choose which channel to announce in.

This module can be disabled by deleting announce.lua in your Critline folder.

Reset
This module lets you permanently delete records if you've gotten some records from a quest item or something otherwise uninteresting, or just want to start over. It also lets you undo records achieved in the last fight.

This module can be disabled by deleting reset.lua in your Critline folder.

Profiles
This module allows you to share settings among characters, and manage profiles easily.\\
The spell profile contains all your spell records, as well as data regarding which trees you are recording.\\
The "general" profile contains all other settings. This profile is character specific by default.\\
This way you can use the same general settings (such as functionality and appearance) on all your characters, while still using separate spell databases.

The general and spell profiles are stored separately, and will not collide. For example, you can use the 'Default' profile both for the general and the spell profiles. They are not considered the same. Changes made to the general profile would not affect the spell profile.

This module can be disabled by deleting profiles.lua in your Critline folder. Note that profiles will still be used, you are only disabling the ability to manage them.

Broker
This module provides a DataBroker feed for each tree, that shows the records, much like the display module.
You can shift click it to insert your top records into the chat, or click it normally to open the config.

This module can be disabled by deleting Broker.lua in your Critline folder.

Aura tracker

This module mainly exists for debugging purposes and does not actually affect the addon in any way.
It registers auras that you and neutral and hostile NPCs have gained, and displays them in a sortable and filterable list. Spell ID and NPC ID of the caster is included.

This module can be disabled by deleting AuraTracker.lua in your Critline folder.

Hmm, always or often? I've not noticed any deviations with it myself. I use 5 as well. I'll look into it, though.

Well, to be more precise the proc is Blood surge, allowing the next Slam to cost no rage, be instant and deal 20% more damage (hence the different id), but I still need to press the Slam button

Sure, whatever is easier for you, merge it is then.
The revert feature is quite neat, great idea you had there.

One more thing, the displayed level, I always get (??).
I found your function GetLevelFromGUID() and I added a simple UnitLevel("target"), problem is when I use whirlwind on a critter but targetting a level 85, it obviously records the huge score on the critter for the level 85 mob ^^
Don't know why your function doesn't return the correct level, I think it messes up with the level filter then (I put 5 but it still registers higher scores on lower levels). It's not a big deal though since I have a work around, I just thought I'd let you know.

Ah, a proc! That explains why you didn't see slam records, then. I'm going to merge the proc Slam with the regular Slam, so they overwrite each other. That sound fine? I'll see what I can do about the off hand spells, but making all these obey the player spells option shouldn't be a problem!

I'm using the lastest version available on Curse client which is 4.1.1 (r39 in changelog).

Slam's ids:
- Spellbook (167%): 1464
- Critline (167%): 50782
- Critline (200%): 50783
Basically as a Fury warrior I'm only interested in the instant proc (200%)

Raging Blow and whirlwind have a off hand component, recorded only when the option is unchecked, I'm gonna put WW too if you don't mind and if that can help (tooltip works for WW though, main hand)

Raging blow's ids:
- Spellbook: 85288
- Critline: 96103
- Critline (off hand): 85384

Whirlwind's ids:
- Spellbook: 1680
- Critline: 1680
- Critline (off hand): 44949

Thanks for the reply

When using my Fury warrior, I noticed Slam and Raging Blow were not recorded when the option was checked. Unchecking it makes it work correctly of course. Plus they're the only two spells whose tooltip is not updated (no info at all, standard tooltip).
So why not letting it unchecked? Well I don't like vehicle's spells to be recorded, you need to unfilter them etc, I guess it's the whole purpose of the option right?
When debugging, it looked like I didn't know the spell, ie it wasn't in my spell book. I couldn't figure out why.

Great addon nonetheless, keep up the good work
Hello!
this is due to a rather odd decision Blizzard apparently made that, for some spells, the spell effect that actually causes damage, is not the same as the spell found in your spell book. (different spell IDs) The spell ID of the spell that deals damage is what I use to check whether it's a player spell, but the function that performs this check only recognises the spells in your spell book. Tooltips not working is because of this as well, indeed.

Now for tooltips, I have a table that maps the damage effect spell ID of such spells, to its corresponding spell book spell ID. I should probably use this for the function that checks for player spells, too! That should solve this problem.

One thing though, are you using 4.1.1? I added a tooltip exception for Slam recently, so the records for it should show up.

If you got a moment to spare and want to help me find the relevant spell IDs that'd be swell!

To find out the "internal" spell ID, go to the Critline filter or reset frame and type this in the chat frame while hovering over the desired spell: (just need the tooltip to show)
Code:
/dump select(3, GameTooltip:GetSpell())
Then do the same thing for the same spell, but in your normal spell book. You'll end up with two numbers, which I'll need to make my magiks. If you could do that for Raging Blow and - once you're sure Slam isn't working with 4.1.1 - for Slam too, that'd be appreciated.

Yeah by shared media would be awesome and its very easy to add your own sounds if you want with SharedMedia too.

As for the splash screen, do you mean the spell icon, or an image chosen by the user? If spell icon, how do you think it should look upon a new record? If a custom image.. well, I'm not sure about that. I'll consider it.
And yeah im wanting to use a custom image.

Do I need a setting that I haven't used or is it a current limitation of the program?
It's basically a limitation in the addon. There's no way to tell whether a combat log entry was influenced by any abnormal damage modifiers. What you can do, though, is adding mobs and (de)buffs to the filter yourself. Adding buffs is not all that easy, however, as it can only be done with a spell ID. I will see about making this more convenient. I also keep adding buffs and mobs such as this one by default, so the user won't have to.
