oUF Asym UI - Widescreen  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.5
by: Dawn [More]

Main purpose of creating this UI was to create a lightweight interface that runs on my shitty PC, without losing to much utility and without looking like crap.
The name simply comes from my oUF layout. This UI is build around it.

The UI basically doesn't need a setup ingame, since version 1.9. All custom settings can be done by lua.

oUF_Asym UI is made to work for 1440x900, it works out of the box for 1680x1050 and 1920x1200, ... should work for all widescreen resolutions.

It comes with A LOT of different bartextures and fonts, see oUF_Asym fonts/texture folder and dArt folder.
There is also some nice art to play around with located in dArt/Art.

i.e.

I don't use any UI scale at all. I don't have this option checked. Or in other words this UI is basically build around an UI scale of 1.0.
If you are using another resolution as 1440x900, you might have to adjust your UI scale until it fits.

FEATURES:
- no setup, works out of the box for every (new) character
- very lightweight, it uses around 970kb of memory, around 1MB in raids
- a clean interface without glitches (even in combat)
- a lot of options to change the look of frameborders, textures...
- a lot of fun while playing .... hopefully
- last but not least, pretty decent support ... i'm trying, really! *cough*

NOTE:
1.) Pretty much any addon included in this UI is heavily customized, I don't take any credits for this.
However, you shouldn't update any of the addons, manually!
2.) If something spits out errors or stops working, tell me please.
3.) I will only support this to the point where it comes to bug fixing. If you want to customize it, you are on your own.
4.) Read the changelog, it contains usefull information!

SETUP:

1.) backup you font, interface and wtf folder
2.) Extract everything into your \WorldofWarcraft\ folder
3.) Make sure you rename YOURACCOUNTNAME to ... guess what ...

This and That:
* Blizzards Calendar is accessible by right clicking on the minimap
* Tracking is accessible by middle clicking on the minimap
* Chat frames minimize after 20seconds of inactivity - you can change the duration in Chicchai
* You can move all bag frames by holding ALT.
* to open a GM ticket type /GM or /ticket
* to reload your UI type /rl

Some addons that you can customize easily are:

*actionbars
rActionBarStyler\rActionBarStyler.lua

*unitframes
oUF_Asym\layout.lua

*chatframe (minimize/maximize effect, borders, background)
Chicchai\core.lua

*dFader (handles fade out of frames, when you are out of combat or without a target selected)
dFader\dFader.lua

*!LynColors (handles all kind of colors,... class colors, mana color, health color, ...)
!LynColors\core.lua

*dMinimap (Minimap addon, you can choose between round or square shape, change the borders, color, position, ....)
dMinimap\dMinimap.lua

Known issues:
1.) FogBG is used to display animated *.m2 files for the minimap. Some instances display *.m2 files different, there might be some glitches. It's still ok for my taste, since it doesn't happen that often. If you don't care for those fog animations at all, simply delete FogBG from your addon folder.
2.) Quality ID doesn't like "bound to account" items, it spits out an lua error while trying to show their itemLvl.

Hope you like it, have fun.

2.5

So I tried the TipTac/oUF thingie with every addon disabled except TipTac and oUF
Still bugged, when I hover my mouse over my frame or targetframe, the tooltip stays.

Tried it with oUF disabled and then it worked perfect.

Then I tried it with oUF enabled and TipTac disabled and then it was bugged again. So it has to be smt with oUF

			["Disease"] = true,
		},
		["SHAMAN"] = {
			["Poision"] = true,
			["Disease"] = true,
		},
		["PALADIN"] = {
			["Poison"] = true,
			["Magic"] = true,
			["Disease"] = true,
		},
		["MAGE"] = {
			["Curse"] = true,
		},
		["DRUID"] = {
			["Curse"] = true,
			["Poison"] = true,
		},
	}
	if t[playerClass] then
		dispellClass = {}
		for k, v in pairs(t[playerClass]) do
			dispellClass[k] = v
		end
		t = nil
	end

I'm not sure what could be the problem maybe Dawn can help. I changed mine and it works fine but I don't limit the number or chars.

Here is what mine looks like:

Code:
	-- ------------------------------------
	-- raid
	-- ------------------------------------
	if(self:GetParent():GetName():match"oUF_Raid") then
		self:SetWidth(70)
		self:SetHeight(20)
		self.Health:SetOrientation("HORIZONTAL")
		self.Health:SetHeight(16)
		self.Health:SetFrameLevel(2)
		self.Health.value:SetPoint("TOP", 0, 5)
		self.Health.value:SetFont(font, 10, "OUTLINE")
		self.Health:SetAlpha(0.8)
		self.Health.colorDisconnected = true
		self.Health.colorClass = true
		self.Name:SetPoint("LEFT", 1, -1)
		self.Name:SetFont(font, 8, "OUTLINE")
		self.Power:SetFrameLevel(2)
		self.Power:SetHeight(3)
		self.Power:SetAlpha(0.8)
		self.Power.value:Hide()
I've changed the size of the frames so you may want to change that bit back.

I removed the

Code:
self.Name:Hide()
and inster this:

Code:

self.Name:SetPoint("LEFT", 1, -1)
self.Name:SetFont(font, 8, "OUTLINE")
self.Name:SetText(string.lower(name):sub(1, 4, nil))
because i need a max namelength with 4 or 5 letters.

If i remove the last SetText(.....) works the raid frame, but with all of the letters from the name.

Code:
	-- ------------------------------------
	-- raid
	-- ------------------------------------
    if(self:GetParent():GetName():match"oUF_Raid") then
		self:SetWidth(35)
		self:SetHeight(40)
		self.Health:SetOrientation("VERTICAL")
		self.Health:SetHeight(36)
		self.Health:SetFrameLevel(2)
		self.Health.value:SetPoint("TOP", 0, 6)
		self.Health.value:SetFont(font, 10, "OUTLINE")
		self.Health:SetAlpha(0.8)
                self.Name:SetPoint("LEFT", 1, -1)
                self.Name:SetFont(font, 8, "OUTLINE")
                self.Name:SetText(string.lower(name):sub(1, 4, nil))

Seems like the default setting for truncating fonts (which is somewhere at the top of layout.lua), interferes with a separate setting for raid names. Maybe I'll look into it, but I don't use names for raid myself.

I'll see if I can replace TipTac with something else, Ranttooltip or something alike.

Something else, where I do need some input:

1.) How much do you liked the panels behind chatframes and minimap?
2.) How much do you like the way chatframes minimize? Do you need it at all ?
3.) What would you like more, chatframes that minimize or a panel behind chatframes that only fade out (like default), but stay at the same size all the time.

I'm currently down to only one large chatframe in the lower left corner instead of the 2, I used before. Since I got rid of kgpanels, I don't have a resizable panel behind them anymore an am thinking about what to do with the frames background - if anything at all.
So tell me what you would like to see, maybe I just bring back kgpanels.

Btw, I'm sorry, I know there is not much room for customization which frequent updates going on, overwriting custom changes, atm. I might split the oUF layout into a separate download and update it there.

1) they arent bad but.. kgpanels EATS frame rate. there is nothing better than a ui thats light weight without loosin fps.

2) i love the minimize feature.. cuz its not all the time you want to see the frames up all the time so i thought it gave the ui a nice flair!!!

3) leave the minimize but get rid of kg panels.. n if possible give the map a nice border.. not to thick...

removing the border or makin them smaller behind the unit frames would be nice to... i realise that in the new build of ur ui is alot faster after kg is off and the fogg thing

I kind of liked the look of the panels but losing them doesn't bother me. Personally I love the auto minimizing chat frames. I like to have a lot of empty space to see what is around so that is a big benefit to me. I just made the default chat frame background like 50% opacity and it looks fine. I wouldn't bother putting kgpanels back in.

1) I think that the Faded black borders on the unit frames, map, and Chat are what gives this UI a lot of its character. I think the raid frame might be stretched out a bit more now because of it, and seeing as tho the boarders do little more than change the appearance there may be room for tweaking (I personally like the boarders on everything, including raid frames, they definitely make this UI stand out) But giving them a purpose other than aesthetics would be something to consider. I'm going to try out banzai when i get home, I have a feeling it will be great but i might re-visit kgpanels for aggro display on boarders... I'm just stubborn and I'm really into the current "theme" that the UI has

2) Personally I've changed my chat frame to minimize after 40 seconds of inactivity. 20 seconds was a bit short. I also like the background and i didn't remove kgpanels from my UI and instead just replaced the oUF folder when v1.7 was posted. I have noticed sometimes that lines are missing from chat until I interact with the window, also not all of the events listed in the configuration trigger maximize on the window 100% of the time (I'll sometimes see messages from /guild that don't trigger maximize, or rather refresh it...) I also like that the combat log does not minimize, however i would like to have the background/boarder applied to it as well to keep things consistent. (is it supposed to have a boarder, did I mess something up? )

3) I think you hit it dead on originally. The minimizing chat frame and the boarder is consistent with the rest of the UI, and serves function and appeal. You can still see chat when the window is minimized as well, with a fading chat window you would loose this...

Btw, I'm sorry, I know there is not much room for customization which frequent updates going on, overwriting custom changes, atm. I might split the oUF layout into a separate download and update it there.
I'll eventually backup and update to the full latest version, however, for now I actually kept all of my interface files intact and only replaced the oUF_Asym folder. I didn't want to lose some of the art, and at this point the Interface is so efficient I don't mind using the extra resources with kgpanels.

Might we see an interface options config in the future(without editing .lua files)?

- "More compliments to you"

edit:

I added oUF_Banzai to this setup, and found it was much more effective than using the boarders to display aggro. I still like the border art however and i'm sticking with it for now. Thanks for the suggestion Dawn.

In the !LynColors folder open the core.lua file and replace
Code:
	["PALADIN"] = { r = 0.7, g = 0.9, b = 1.0 },
with
Code:
	["PALADIN"] = { r = 0.96, g = 0.55, b = 0.73 },
http://www.wowwiki.com/Class_colors gives you code for all the default Blizzard colors.

Thanks for the feedback!

@Blu3screen The combat log has no panel, you didn't miss something. I'm just not using it. Missing chat lines are something I also noticed, this happens because of Chicchai. Not such a bigy I think. You can change which events make the chat frames pop up in Chicchai/core.lua. It's configurable separately for each chat frame.

beyond line ...
Code:
local ChatFrameConfig = {	-- Events which maximize the chat for the different windows
... just uncomment/comment out the events

It's easy to bring back panels for minimap and bars with a few lines of code. The chat frame is a different story, because of it's resize ability. It would need some event checking (on update), some way to get the width/height, ... I don't know how to code this, tbh. Even though it might not need so much code, neither. It's dead easy with kgpanels, but bringing kgpanels back, just for the chat frame ... I don't know.

@Sauerkraut Thanks for answering some of the questions.

After all I will stick with Chicchai and it's minimizing. And bring back the panels around everything else than chat, without kgpanels, for now.

Edit:

Btw, this is how the changelog for 1.8 currently looks like.

1.8
* some tweaks on oUF_Asym layout
* ReadyCheck support added
* oUF_Banzai added
* Fane added
* sThreatMeter2 updated (v090310)
* got rid of some Dominos layouts - I'm sure everyone and his mother uses a custom layout or maybe Barlayout2, anyway. No need to carry around 100kb more of unused information.
* replaced LynStats with nClock - you can move nClock around by holding Alt
* edited nClock to always show lag and fps
* castbars for player and target are now part of oUF_Asym
* AzCastBar removed
* Chatframes reduced to one large frame in the lower left corner
1.8 will look somehow like this... I''m using a small addon (dArt) for the frames around minimap and bars (not done yet, servers went down one hour to early, today).

Tested another thing with TipTac.

It also bugs when I hover over the first party member, but when I hover over the other 4, it works perfectly.
