QuestGuru is a Quest Log Enhancer.
If you are looking for the "Classic" version of QuestGuru click QuestGuru_Classic
I have split off QuestGuru and QuestGuru Sounds into two separate addons that don't rely on each other so that the community that really missed the sounds can have them with me delaying them because of the qork being done on QuestGuru. I hope this makes at least some people happy.
You can click > QuestGuru Sounds
Note: If you like this addon, please "Like it" on Curse.com.
All Donations support me and I thank you in advance for it.

Re: Re: Bug Reporting
I just now saw your update so that's great. The error location is in the middle of a routine that executes for every UI Info Message that shows up on your screen (such as entering a zone or killing a mob) and the missing parameter is derived from the ID of the quest in the line above. Not sure how that could have been missing, but clearly it was. Had to be some corruption as this area hasn't changed since I started working on this AddOn. Anyway, glad you got it worked out. -g |

Re: Bug Reporting
UPDATE: Fixed it. Deleted the SavedVariables/QuestGuru.lua, reset the default quest tracker settings (turned on Display -> Remote Zones) (while no addons loaded), and turned off 'wide' tracker option. One of these (probably deleting the saved variables) fixed it.
Code:
Message: Interface\AddOns\QuestGuru\QuestGuru.lua:410: bad argument #1 to 'find' (string expected, got nil) Time: Thu Aug 30 12:43:57 2012 Count: 1 Stack: [C]: in function `find' Interface\AddOns\QuestGuru\QuestGuru.lua:410: in function `QuestGuru_UIInfoMessage' Interface\AddOns\QuestGuru\QuestGuru.lua:38: in function `QuestGuru_OnEvent' Interface\AddOns\QuestGuru\QuestGuru.lua:15: in function <Interface\AddOns\QuestGuru\QuestGuru.lua:14> Locals: (*temporary) = nil (*temporary) = "(.*):%s*([%d]+)%s*/%s*([%d]+)" (*temporary) = "string expected, got nil" Code:
Message: Interface\AddOns\QuestGuru\QuestGuru.lua:410: bad argument #1 to 'find' (string expected, got nil) Time: Thu Aug 30 12:47:36 2012 Count: 1 Stack: [C]: in function `find' Interface\AddOns\QuestGuru\QuestGuru.lua:410: in function `QuestGuru_UIInfoMessage' Interface\AddOns\QuestGuru\QuestGuru.lua:38: in function `QuestGuru_OnEvent' Interface\AddOns\QuestGuru\QuestGuru.lua:15: in function <Interface\AddOns\QuestGuru\QuestGuru.lua:14> Locals: (*temporary) = nil (*temporary) = "(.*):%s*([%d]+)%s*/%s*([%d]+)" (*temporary) = "string expected, got nil" I get the exact same error when I disable all add ons except for Quest Guru. I installed the update from yesterday (remove the QG folders and moved the new ones in) and get exactly the same error. This is with no add ons installed except Quest Guru and Quest Guru Tracker. I am in Stormwind picking up pumpkins (and also fished up the Crystal Bass) and the errors pops every time I pick one up and the progress updates in the middle of the screen, However, I am not getting the error now when I turn in a quest, only when I progress. Not sure if that is a no-addon change or new add-on version change as yesterday I was getting the errors on both.

Bug Reporting
Since you are the only one reporting the error and you are getting it with every turn in, I'm thinking the problem must be in your addons someplace. If everyone was getting the same problem as you I'd be seeing hundreds of reports. So, let's tackle this from that perspective first. Forgive me if I explain in too much detail. I'm also writing this with an eye to others who may not be addon authors. Are you running out of date addons? If so that is likely the problem as there are a bunch of changes at the code level with this patch. If you have this on, turn it off and try again. To turn this off, logout of your toon, click the AddOns button on the lower left and make sure that the Checkbox next to "Load out of date AddIns" is unchecked. If you have out of date addons off and you still get the problem, then refresh the QuestGuru code. Entirely delete the entire QuestGuru and QuestGuru_Tracker directories from your Addons directory, then install a fresh copy, then restart (logout is insufficient) the game. If you still get the problem, try the next step. Find which, if any, addons are conflicting with QuestGuru. First turn off all of your other addons and try it again. The best way I've found to do this is via an AddOn called "Addon Control Panel". This particular addon doesn't have the .TOC changed for this patch, but if you change it yourself, it works. Click the ReloadUI button after every change. Otherwise you can use the Addon button described above. Click Disable All, then check QuestGuru & QuestGuru_Tracker, click ok and then login and try again. If the problem went away, then the problem is with an addon that you were running. Enable addons one at a time until the problem crops up again. When you know what addon it is that causes the problem let me and the other addon author know. If it still happens after doing the above, please let me know in a bug report. I'll work with you to get it figured out. What information do I want? For starters, two things. 1) The contents of the "LUA Error" pop up that should appear if there was an error such as you described Copy (Ctrl-C) the contents and paste it into a CODE (#) block into the bug report. The single message, while helpful, doesn't give me any context or other information that helps determine the problem. If you don't get the "LUA Error" pop up, make sure you haven't turned that off. That is found under interface, Help panel and make sure "Display Lua Errors" is checked. Some folks use the BugSack addon, but I don't know much about it myself. 2) Exactly what you did that caused the problem. In this case you mentioned quest turn ins. OK, exactly when? There are up to three panels that appear on a quest turn in. What was the last button you clicked that caused the error? "Complete Quest"? "Continue"? Or was it a "?" on a panel that you clicked that precipitated the error? In general, what you did leading up to the problem and the last action (or 2 or 3) that caused the error to appear in as much detail as you can supply. -g |

Could you disable your other addons, try it again, and if it still fails, please include the lua error panel contents and submit that in a Bug Report? Thanks, -g |

Re: World map intergration
Yes, I am working on a complete re-write. But the re-write isn't ready for anything yet as I haven't had much real-life time to work on it. The current QuestGuru does have a MoP ready version in the MoP Beta area. I'll be publishing that to the normal places once the patch goes live.
I was not planning on any Quest Map modifications at this time. I admit that sometimes I think the number icons get in the way (Points Of Interest - POI) and wish I could change their transparency or strata so my character arrow could be seen when I'm near the objective. I havent thought about removing them although a transparency value of zero would accomplish that I think. I'm pretty sure you were asking about the numbered icon, not the larger blue/grey coloring indicating where the objective areas. I liked Quest Helper as well and usually ran both of them back two expansions ago. As always, place the request in the suggestion part for the add-on and we'll see. More requests for something similar gives it a better chance to get implemented. After MoP goes live, I'm suspecting I will need to fix the current version to handle outlying cases. -g |

World map intergration
hi there , ive been reading about your taking over of the addon and complete rewrite of the QG addon for MOP and i was wondering about some addition to the World map , currently it's just Blizzard's own Quest tracker to show there ( unless using other quest addon's ofc ) , but i Hate the quest number Bobs they show when a blue quest zone is highlighted ( i know there's is the hide function but it removes everything lol ) , i was wondering if you could implement a special hide function for only that bob / blob what ever there called really or if your willing to make your own version / replacement , and keep the blue highlighted quest area ? ( or if you want to add option for several other colour's .... ) , cuz those are easy / streamlined and ofc handy and i like them , tbh in some ways it would be nice to have a New Generation Quest Helper i always liked the way it worked in the world map and overall but since Cata it's been handed down to certain author's who up to this day still haven't been able to implement the Cata database into the addon .... , so i'm not having much fate in his MOP release as you can imagine lol , a Very old author of that same addon tried making Quest helper 2 but he hassent shown any signs of life since begin of 2012 =/ , and again the chance of it being abandoned is very high , i tried carbonite but i just don't like the look and feel they use to display everything , lol sorry talking about addon's like this , anyway i hope you understand my point i'm trying to make if even slightly ^^

Yep, seems to do this upon random occasion
If it's real repeatable, can you disable all of your other addons and give it a go and see what happens? Thanks -g |

MoP Beta version up on WOW Interface
Go to ADDONS | Categories | Optional | Mists of Panderia Beta.
This is not the re-write I'm working on, just a port of the old one to MoP. Please let me know of any bugs by using the bug tracker on my page Thanks, -g
