QuestGuru is a Quest Log Enhancer.
If you are looking for the "Classic" version of QuestGuru click QuestGuru_Classic
I have split off QuestGuru and QuestGuru Sounds into two separate addons that don't rely on each other so that the community that really missed the sounds can have them with me delaying them because of the qork being done on QuestGuru. I hope this makes at least some people happy.
You can click > QuestGuru Sounds
Note: If you like this addon, please "Like it" on Curse.com.
All Donations support me and I thank you in advance for it.

QuestGuru - Announcer
The answer to the question is yes and no.
I've noted that new quests (and abandoned ones as well) do not get announced. My goal with the re-write is to replicate existing functionality with an eye to adding new features after that. So, Yes, it's being addressed in the re-write, but it won't be on the first version of that. I want to get it out (and live through the inevitable debug phase) and then start on the changes. One (major) feature I have planned is the ability to open a quest watcher window that will show the selected party member's quests. This is much like the old JasonQuest used to do. Could you do me a favor and put that request as a feature request? That will help me prioritize which features to put in. Thank you, -g |

Grabbed questguru in order for my wife and I to quest with our kids, we were most interested in the QuestAnnouncer since they forget to pick up quests and it lets us track how much of what they have. I was playing with it enabled the other day and noticed it doesn't announce when a new quest is picked up, although the feature is on in the config. Is this something being addressed in the rewrite? Just curious because it would make this mod invaluable for us.
I guess i forgot to mention i'm using the latest version here and i was grouped. Thanks.

Re: changing other colors in tracker?
Yes, QuestGuru is supported and currently stable.
I am working on a complete re-write of the Add-On currently and hope to have it out for Mists of Pandera expansion. After that, I will consider tweaks to things such as you mentioned, but first, major functionality Please submit a feature request on the buttons on the middle right of the page and that way I won't loose track of the request. The new version will be QuestGuru 3 and I'm working on having it modular so you can enable just the parts you want. Currently there are the Quest Log Enhancement (includes the announcer and sound options) and the Tracker (both quests and achievements). Quest Completist is a great Add-On that provides data about quests so QG dropped it's history function. I hope to return the QG history as an optional feature so you can keep the info for quests that you have seen for future reference - something that I really liked. I also plan on a Party feature so you can get the complete quest log info for members of your party (provided they also have the same addon). Work on the addon however has been slow lately as work (real life type) got overpowering in the last couple of months taking away all my breathing space. Thanks for asking and remember to post that feature request! -g |

changing other colors in tracker?
Hi, Nice addon, thanks for things. I kinda perused the first few pages of this, but Im wondering if there is a way to change the colors of the headers and things from yellow to white, and to also put an outline on the texts for the tracker. XD Im not even sure if this is still maintained, there is a lack of discussion since the last update, i think. but no news is good news, it seems to work just fine.

@danawhitaker, brykrys, allogator
I updated the QGT_Quests to fix (hopefully permanently) the SetBindings error. The problem was that Blizz hadn't finished loading the KeyBindings despite VARIABLES_LOADED having been fired. The logic of the setting of the Tracker Window Toggle was changed to not set if SHIFT-L was already used someplace or if the toggle keybinding was already set (to anything). If the CurrentBindingSet was garbage, I set a three count timer for 1 second intervals and came back to it. If, after three tries, the CurrentBindingSet is still garbage, I quit. I want to thank Dana for helping on this. She ran some diagnostics for me to help determine the exact problem. I hope everyone had a Great Christmas and wish a Prosperous New Year to all. -g |

Hi, there is no functional difference. It's simply a holdover from a previous version. It was changed to call Quest Completist before there was an Open QC button (provided by Quest Completist). I hope to put back in something like the old history window someday.
For a feature enhancement, please request it via the Features button on the right side of the Addon Info. tab. |

Buttons?
Hi,
Whats the difference between the Open QC button & the History button? They appear to both just open QC. Does one of these need removing or am i missing something? Also, any chance of a future version remembering its position. Really frustrating having to reposition the quest log everytime i log in. Many thanks for updating this

Re: Odd QuestGuru Tracker Issue
So that's what it was? I just tolerated it because it only happened to me maybe every 5th time or so that I did it. However, My keybindings have been suspiciously wiped out twice. I thought I was going crazy. >_< |

Thank you for taking the time to report the error, however there is not much I can do with the information posted. I can see where the error happened and the nature of the error. But there is no context to work with. What were you doing with this happened? Did you get the error more than once? Can you re-create the error? If so, how? Does it happen on more than one toon? Any other problems happening at the same time?

My guess is that the Keyboard problem is the same thing as the old SaveBindings error, probably something like:
For some reason the key bindings sometimes aren't loaded by the time QuestGuru tries to check its own keybinding. At this point GetCurrentBindingSet doesn't return a valid 1 or 2, which caused the old error. If QuestGuru carries on anyway, sets its own binding, and calls SaveBindings - it's going to save nil values to every other binding. |

@brykrys
I've come to that conclusion already I've been working on figuring out just exactly what is happening and why it is failing. In the short of it, somebody may have Shift-L defined to something else and QuestGuru just stomps on it regardless. That seems wrong to me. I've already got a test in the latest iteration to ignore the Set if Shift-L is already used. If the Shift-L isn't used, then setting it doesn't seem to be a problem to me - if I can get it to not fail when I set it Do you get the keybind failure that dana noted as well? |
