Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.11
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Slash commands: /shadoweduf (/suf)

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

mergleh: The easiest is to just wrap a color code around it, so for example "[( )abscurhp]|cffff2020[( )missinghp]|r" will give you red around the missinghp.

odyzzle: Interesting, do you have the more advanced settings on like scaling auras if you casted them? Also how many auras do you show. At a certain point, I can't do much about aura lag because auras are generally evil to work with.

I haven't been hearing reports about that issue yet thought, I'll see if I can look into it further.

Thanks for a great addon Shadowed.
I am switching from Pitbull 4 due to severe fps issues during raids. I am having a problem coloring the certain text in SUF that I cannot figure out how to fix. Basically i want it to look like this: [( )abscurhp][( )missinghp] but i want the missinghp to be red. Is there a way to do this using your frames?

I apologize if this is something simple, I looked around for about 30min and I couldn't find anything about how to color text.

Thanks

SUF

I recently switched from xperl to SUF and I love it. The quickly updating health is very noticeable and definitely my favorite feature.

There's one debilitating problem though, when I switch to a new target who has a large amount of buffs and debuffs, my screen tends to lock up for a short period of time, maybe a fifth or a third of a second. The more buffs, the longer the lockup. This is a major problem in playing arena and it has forced me to switch back to a different unit frame addon.

Some other info that might be helpful: I have good RAM and a sufficient graphics card, but my processor is lacking. It causes me to have fps problems in places like dalaran and wintergrasp, but it usually stays at around 9 or 8 at the lowest, never spiking to a complete freeze frame like when I switch to a heavily buff/debuffed target with SUF. I was turned on to SUF by a friend, and after I told him about my issue he says he has been noticing it on some occasions too.

Thanks and if you know of any way to reduce this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any way to make the 'empty bar' transparent?

I know theres no way in the config since it has no alpha setting, but is there any place i can edit in lua to make it always transparent ( I dont care if it does it for all units, i want it to be transparent every place i put it)

Request was silly. I hadn't updated as the mod hadn't broken. Thanks for the MT frames

Quartz, not SUF is doing that. It's always Quartz, eh?

Is there a way to enable the blizzard arena frames while using SUF?

I don't have the arena modules enabled in SUF but I am not seeing the blizzard arena frames.

How can I fix this?

Re: Target gone

Today i downloaded and installed/configurated the addon, and i must say, i love it!!! Just need to get used to it after been using xperl for a long time.

I have an issue though. All of the sudden after configurating threat settings, i lost the "target" window and ive tried everything but i just cant find it anymore.

What should i do? :S

Edit: I´ve now tried to reset to defaults + deleting WTF folder 7 times and after doing that i can see the target again.
But the issue remains. every time i /reload ui, log out or exit game, i keep losing the bloody target bar.

Edit: Found another issue. I have lost my party/group bars and ive checked all settings 5 times + relogged, restarted game and pc, deactivated addon, reset addon and all that. Target frame works now though.
Also, i get an error when i want to set focus on a target saying that it cant focus with other UI than blizzard standard.

It seems like everytime i make 1 thing work, 2 other things doesnt work.
Wratted,

I am also an Xperl convert. As I get use to it and tweak it more I am starting to not miss xperl at all and it looks so much better!

I had a similar issue last night while workign on some bars. First pet bar went away, then traget bar went away. I tried /reloadui, logging out totally and back in nothing fixed it. I ended up checking for an update, found that there was one and loaded it in. Fixed all the bars I'd lost. (I didn't remove anything when doing this).

So one solution would be just reaload the add-on over the existing one. This may fix your issue.

Also check that you have the missing bars selected to show, Global option I think.

There is no any lua errors. Tried to play with bar options and got something like inverted bar when enabled Override color option but still far from what it should be. It should fill bar with background color for filled part and with bar color for missing part. That how it work in Grid and other similar addons.
