Reputation Bars  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v8.0.0
by: PontusM, mjumnito

DESCRIPTION

Track your reputation with some glorious bars!

Reputation Bars is a modular addon that lets you watch one or more faction standings, i.e. the amount of reputation you have with them. It can be used to track specific factions or automatically track the ones you gain rep with. It is especially useful for those with custom UIs that no longer have the default Blizzard rep bar available.

You can use this while leveling to see your reputation bar or simply as a way to show you how much you have left for various factions as you grind your way to exalted...

FEATURES
* WatchBar module replaces the default Blizzard reputation watch bar.
* WatchBar tracks the currently active faction (similar to Blizzards built in bar).
* WatchBar can automatically switch the active faction to the one you gain reputation with.
* AutoBars module that automatically tracks recently gained reputation.
* StaticBars module to track specific factions that you specify.
* Automatically fadeout bars when no reputation has been gained for a while to avoid cluttering your UI.
* All bars can be customized in order to fit most UI configurations (supports SharedMedia for a larger variety of fonts and bar textures).
* Simply disable any modules you don't need through the configuration UI.

I recommend that you also install the SharedMedia addon for a larger variety of fonts and bar textures.

CONFIGURATION

Configuration is done using the Blizzard addon configuration interface. You can right click on the title bar to open it, or use the slash command /rptb.

Great Addon, just a few questions though:

Is it possible to disable showing recently gained reputation on the WatchBar and StaticBars?

Also, is it possible to choose how the StaticBars reputations are ordered?
Since the order is turned around when switching from grow downward to upwards and vice versa it'd be nice to be able to choose to sort it from A-Z, Z-A, Highest-Lowest, Lowest-Highest, order of the normap Reputation pane, stuff like that.

Also, is it possible to turn the WatchBar into the XP Bar without it replacing the standard Blizzard one? I use Bartender for a custom UI and I'd like to use WatchBar as XP Bar without it automatically changing to the size and position of the original XP Bar.

I should have checked here first, but I opened the Character panel, checked the Reputation list in the default UI, and it is not listed there either. Very strange, because I remember tracking this not long ago. I know Im still earning reptuation gains for them (its showing up in my chat log), but its not listed in my reputations tab on the character panel.

very odd.

missing rep?

Forgive me for forgetting the name, but there is a rep that is not being tracked. When turning in EARS to D.E.N.T.A., you earn a rep with whatever 'sub-faction(?)' they represent, but there is no associated bar for this group that I can find.

also, I'd like to re-submit my request for the ability to put padding between the bars. The rest of my custom UI uses about 2 to 3 pixels of space between buff bars and if I could do this here, it would blend perfectly with the rest of my design.

thanks for continuing to update and improve this addon. it is excellent.

I've never used FactionFu but I think I get the idea. Maybe I should add another module that can autotrack by location... The popup with a faction list is not a bad idea, I just have to figure out where it fits in.

Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you for the mod! With this, I'm finally able to get rid of the last vestiges of FuBar from my UI. FuBar is fine, I suppose, if you like lots of buttons on your screen, but I don't.

All that said, I have one feature request...

Have you seen how FactionFu works? It lets you set not only a faction to watch, but you can set a "watch by zone" override to it. So, let's say I generally want to watch Kirin'Tor rep... I just click that one. Then, let's say I want to watch Knights of the Ebon Blade while in Icecrown. I control+click that one and then, whenever I enter Icecrown, it shifts watched rep to the one I selected for that zone, otherwise it watches Kirin'Tor.

One other feature I like is to be able to hover over the bar and see a list of reps I have, their standing by name and names are colored (green for friendly/honored, blue for revered, purple for exalted, etc.).

Basically? I'd love to see your added bar features and compact design with the FactionsFu featureset. lol

I keep trying other rep mods and always gravitate towards reinstalling FactionFu and FuBar. I'm hoping to stay with yours, though... I think adding the featureset from that (the faction-by-zone watch and the rep list that's clickable from hover) would make you THE premier rep mod of this WoW generation of players.

*shrugs* but that's me.

Keep up the fantastic work! It's nice to see something that gives "the old standard" a run for its money.

Obviously if none of my requests make the next release, Im still very happy with what I have now. My list is i no particular order, but if I had to pick two I'd consider "strongly wanted" it would be recoloring/texturing the background and padding space between the bars themselves.

the others are more or less 'wishes' rather than official feature requests

love this. a few requests

  • Customize the background - on my display, i cant see the light grey background so i can't really see very well how far any given bar is from being 'full length' - the ability to recolor the background would be great.
  • padding - Id like to have a bit of space between the bars so they all dont blend into a large cube shape. Being able to put a few pixels of space between them would be great.
  • much longer fade out - I dont like permanent bars, but if Im doing, say, 30 minutes worth of Argent Tourny dailies, Id like the affected bars to be visible for the duration of that time. Currently, Im enabling/disabling the 'permanent' bars which is okay, but it would be great if the timeout on the temporary bars could be a much much larger #.
  • ability to turn OFF test bars - I like being able to click on the button that lets me view some sample bars for testing, but then those bars remain and I can't turn them back off again. It would be nice if I could disable these 3 or 4 bars once Im done tweaking the display
  • enable/disable factions by default wow groups? - in the default interface, faction reps are grouped by regions and/or expansions. It would be nice to be able to disable Burning Crusade reps as a whole category with a check-box.
  • +rep gains per session instead of per turn-in - right now, the +### at the end of the bar is per 'event' (quest turn-in, mob kill, etc). I'd like a feature where that +### represents the total rep gains for that entire session.

VERY nice addon. It blends PERFECTLY with my castbar / buffbar addons. This one is great.

In regards to my post as HanFox on curse.com about Bantos I checked and I meant "BantoBars"...

Either way, as you suggested I tried loading it up with no other addons and of course ran in to the dependency issue... I'll await you to fix your libs and then try again...

Ok, that's pretty weird... What are your settings for autohide and remove inactive factions? Maybe that's causing the in and out popping...

When I gain rep, Autobars shows the proper reputation, and it pops in and out of the bar repeatedly until I turn off autobars. Example: Stormwind increases and it shows the bar animated up then it drops back down and disappears then repeats until I turn off autobars.

Edit: Autobars is the only one on. I don't use the other two options.

Edit2: Okay loaded in, pressed the Test Bars button in the autobar config. Shows up just fine. Once it clears, press it again and it shows two bars with info, and one empty bar, then it all dissappears one second later. Pressing this again I get nothing. Similar happens when I am gaining reputation. It shows the bar the first time for my 30 sec timer. Then when I gain rep again .. it shows for 1 second then disappears, then shows again then disappears repeating until I /reload or shut off autobars.

Edit3: Tried without any other addon and it just has an error:
