EventHorizon now has a Discord: https://discord.gg/mR8xUUK. Come say hi!
Also, EventHorizon is now on github: https://github.com/Brusalk/EventHorizon_Continued -- You can find the latest changes there, but releases will still be released here and on Curse.
-Brusalk (Kilrogg-US)
EventHorizon is now updated and working for Shadowlands. Just download the most recent version and you should be good to go!
If you have and comments, concerns, questions, suggestions, anything, don't hesitate to contact me either through comments here or via mail or whisper in game.
If you feel that the class config for your class is not up to snuff then please let me know why and update it yourself!
There is now a how-to on class configuration below!
There is also a how-to on customization of how EH looks below as well. Check it out!
Please be aware that I'm rewriting this addon from scratch to be released officially soon (tm). Addon development has had to take a backseat to real life for the past few months though I've been working on it as much as I can. (Also, coming in the rewrite is an in-game configuration menu as well as the ability to alter class-configs in-game to make it easier to customize EH.)
If you have a few extra bucks this month and you like all my work, consider chipping in
What does EventHorizon do?
EventHorizon displays all of your class/spec's rotational abilities on a common time scale. This means that instead of seeing a regular percentage-based timer bar, EH shows you exactly what is happening in relation to everything else. If that sounds complicated at all, just look at the screenshots.
The basic idea: An ability that lasts 12 seconds and has 6 seconds remaining shouldn't look exactly the same as one that lasts 5 minutes and has 2.5 minutes remaining.
Videos showing EH in action:
Dezzimal posted a great instructional video using a Shadow Priest for reference.
breakingsong demonstrated EH on a Destro Warlock.
Also, for instant gratification, here's a quick snippet showing a Shadow Priest's rotation at 1 frame per second, using an older layout:
The big white line is the current time. Future events are on the right side, past events on the left. As time goes by, the events scroll from right to left.
The green bars are your cast bars. They use exactly the same times that your normal cast bar would display, with all haste modifiers applied.
You can also see cooldowns, DoTs, and their ticks (predicted in the future, and from the combat log in the past). EventHorizon is extremely intelligent when dealing with most things DoT/HoT-related.
The white lines that appear before the cast times are the times when you press the button (send the cast message to the server). The difference between this line and the start of the cast is your lag.
How do I set it up?
EventHorizon does not include an in-game configuration UI. However, it really doesn't need one - Everything should "just work".
Power users and those wishing to theme EventHorizon for a specific UI, please read on to the advanced portion of this section. Don't worry, it's easier than it may seem.
The basics:
* The window may be moved via the drag-handle on the upper right frame corner. It may be a little hard to see at first, but will light up as soon as you mouse over it.
* You can show/hide EventHorizon manually by using /eventhorizon or /ehz.
Advanced configuration:
Note: I would highly recommend an advanced text editor such as VS Code if you wish to edit the configuration files. While this isn't required by any means, an editor with syntax highlighting makes changing the files MUCH easier.
* The default configuration for EventHorizon is located in EventHorizon\config.lua. This file contains every setting available for EH and is heavily commented to help tweak things to your liking. This file may be deleted and EventHorizon will maintain its functionality (not that I would ever recommend doing that).
* Any changes you make to config.lua will be removed when you update EventHorizon. This is by design. HOWEVER, there's an easy way to get around that. Simply create a new file (or a copy of config.lua) named "myconfig.lua". This file is automatically loaded, and because it loads after config.lua, the settings in myconfig.lua will always be the ones to appear in-game.
Files
There are 2 files which you can edit to change the physical appearance of EventHorizon including colors, size, global functionality and other things. I'm going to assume that you have the most recent version of the configuration file provided in the most recent version of EventHorizon.
config.lua:
You can think of this as the default settings of EventHorizon. If you want to change settings then you can do so here, but when you download a new version of EventHorizon you have to be careful as the new version includes config.lua and will overwrite any changes you've made to this file. You can always skip this file when overwriting, but it's better to use myconfig.lua as it's intended to avoid this problem.
myconfig.lua:
This file overwrites any values in config.lua with the values changed inside it. So if you have config.width set to 375 in config.lua and config.width set to 200 in myconfig.lua, EventHorizon will use 200 as the value.
Where this is useful is that myconfig.lua is never included in the updated versions of EventHorzion, and as such will never be overwritten when downloading a new version of EventHorizon.
As such best practice is to alter any values you wish to change in config.lua by changing the values inside myconfig.lua.
Configuration
In order to change settings of something you just have to change the text after the equals sign on the line with the setting you want to change.
For example if you wanted to change the width of the addon you would change line 33 which normally reads (by default)
config.width = 375 -- Width of a single bar....
config.width = 200 -- Width of a single bar....
local EHN,ns = ... local config = EventHorizon.config local c = EventHorizon.colors local _,class = UnitClass('player') -- These locals make in-line conditions a little easier. See the color section for a few examples. local DK = class == "DEATHKNIGHT" local Druid = class == "DRUID" local Hunter = class == "HUNTER" local Mage = class == "MAGE" local Paladin = class == "PALADIN" local Priest = class == "PRIEST" local Rogue = class == "ROGUE" local Shaman = class == "SHAMAN" local Warlock = class == "WARLOCK" local Warrior = class == "WARRIOR" --[[ EDIT BELOW THIS LINE ]]--

Big Trouble. WoW Crashes.
Your ZIP-File has Version 1.4 but contains 1.3.c Could you please check your upload? Seems that only the Warlock-File is causing the crash.

It is extremely rare for an addon to be able to crash the game, and I personally know several warlocks who use EH v1.4 without any errors, so I'm inclined to doubt that EventHorizon is the cause here if the game is forcefully exiting when you log on to your Warlock. Just in case, though: Clear out any instance of "EventHorizon.lua" in your SavedVariables (WoW/WTF/Account/ACCOUNTNAME/SavedVariables, and also the character savedvariables found further down the directory tree). This will help in case there's some sort of file corruption going on. Second, if it's crashing every time, disable EventHorizon and see if it still crashes. If that fixes it, completely remove EventHorizon from your AddOns directory and reinstall it from scratch. If ALL ELSE FAILS, I need an Armory link to be able to help further. |

Okay, thank you very much. I will try this tomorrow.
For the time being I fixed it so, that I deleted all spells I don't need as a destruction lock. Worked for me. Will report tomorrow to you. Thx again Taroven. Edith: It does not crash if only Event Horzion and Event Horizon Vitals are active. As soon as I activated the Warlock-Module, I had the problem. No Lua-Errors, just the Wow-Error. Anyway, I'm using your great addon a long time without any problems. So I won't complain.

Here is my link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sh...elgun&n=valcry
In case Armory is not working, it's 0 / 13 / 58 "as usual". No surprises. I'm using with EH: Conflagrate Chaosbolt Immolate Curses (Doom, Agony) Corruption Incinerate Life Tap Bars exactly in this order. So, I deleted : Metamorphose, Shadowbolt, Haunt, Instable Affliction, hm... Ah, Drain Soul is still in the LUA, but anyway will not be shown because I didn't skilled Talent Nr. 24. Usuallay I'm only changing the order of the spells. This is the first time I tried to delete some. But it helped for me. Probalby I would be still able to reproduce this. Will check tomorrow.

This is f...ing strange. So, I tried to test logically, means: Disabling one spell by each other until I found the crashing one. With a really strange result:
First of all, I Downloaded this version here and cleaned all Save Variables. 1) Login. Crash. 2) Disabled Haunt 3) No real crash, but after 8 seconds wow quit. Without erroe 4) Disbled Instable Affliction 5) No crash at login, but after logout 6) Enabled Haunt. 7) Crash so, obviously Haunt should be the one, causing problems. Because of Lags I went to Stormwind now. 8) Haunt still Enabled causes crash again. My next Idea was, to disable, relog, enable and relog again, to be sure. Afterall it was planned to Use my First-Skill Affliction in order to see, whether this would make any difference. BUT..... no further crashes. Logged in with the original Files two time. Everythin okay. My PC hates me...I'm quite sure. And furthermore I'm sure that tomorrow immediatly bevore ICC it will crash again ^^ So if I would be able again to reprocuce, my idea would be to disable all addons except EH. But.... you see....badluck Bevor you will search for any errors for hours, let me check this out in the next days. I got the problem and I see no reason why I shouldn't have a bit work on this. (in RL im Programmer an sometimes it may happen that errors does occur just at this one PC, probably you know this) bst rgds, Val

That's definitely strange. Thanks for the in-depth test.
You're completely right when you say everyone's computer is different. Things that crash your game may be things that keep mine from crashing, you never know. I need a few bits of extra information if it does start crashing again. 1) Please describe exactly how the game crashes. Meaning, does it just dump you to the desktop with an error window, or does the game completely freeze? This is very important for me to know. 2) I'd like a full list of everything in your addons directory, and another list with only your enabled addons. Yes, even if you deleted everything but EventHorizon. =P Anyway. Just to be sure that everything's alright, delete the Cache directory within your WoW dir. Experience tells me that sometimes the old files kept in there can mess things up quite a lot, and this is sounding more and more like something involving Haunt got corrupted. I'd also suggest running WoW's repair utility if you can find the time for it. |

Good morning,
I'm currently at work, so just some more Information I have in mind. Repair.exe does not show any errors. Already tried yesterday noontime. There is no freeze. Just the grey windows-wow-error MsgBox is popping up. "Memory xyz could not be read" or maybe "not be written". So the "classical" errormessage which should be very annouying to investigate On Baelgun, whole Northrend is lagging at the moment. I had the problems in the area with the converted Heroes as well, but not in Storwmind. So there might be an (gimme a dictionary....) interrelation between Northend, another addon and EH and the Crash. I will post a full list later on. But be sure, there are a lot of addons

It's starting to sound like a classic case of computer overload. EventHorizon does have a fair amount of load itself when it initializes, which could be the straw breaking the camel's back.
Please send further replies via PM and we'll get this fixed. I'd like to avoid further flooding of the comments here. |

I've got EventHorizon v1.5 ready, just need a little testing time to make sure there's no huge bugs with it.
Changelog: v1.5: * Core: Glyph detection has been rewritten a bit and uses less CPU while being less of a pain to work with on my end. * Core: Glyph-based periodic haste (Corruption/Rejuvenation) should work better now. It's still not 100%, though, due to oddities on Blizzard's end. * Core: Converted textureID to uniqueID in core and class config. uniqueID tracks a single specific spellID for things like Eclipse and Sacred Shield. * Core: Some general fixes and API updates that I've likely forgotten by now. * Druid: Converted Eclipse tracking from textureID to uniqueID. Removed Faerie Fire and reordered Balance bars a bit. * Paladin: Converted Sacred Shield tracking from textureID to uniqueID. * Shaman: Thunderstorm removed. Fire Nova and Elemental Mastery added. * Mage: Updated Frost and Arcane. Arcane now tracks AP and PoM. Frost now tracks most freeze effects, Deep Freeze, and Fingers of Frost (TLDR: EH is now much more usable for Frost). |
