EventHorizon now has a Discord: https://discord.gg/mR8xUUK. Come say hi!
Also, EventHorizon is now on github: https://github.com/Brusalk/EventHorizon_Continued -- You can find the latest changes there, but releases will still be released here and on Curse.
-Brusalk (Kilrogg-US)
EventHorizon is now updated and working for Shadowlands. Just download the most recent version and you should be good to go!
If you have and comments, concerns, questions, suggestions, anything, don't hesitate to contact me either through comments here or via mail or whisper in game.
If you feel that the class config for your class is not up to snuff then please let me know why and update it yourself!
There is now a how-to on class configuration below!
There is also a how-to on customization of how EH looks below as well. Check it out!
Please be aware that I'm rewriting this addon from scratch to be released officially soon (tm). Addon development has had to take a backseat to real life for the past few months though I've been working on it as much as I can. (Also, coming in the rewrite is an in-game configuration menu as well as the ability to alter class-configs in-game to make it easier to customize EH.)
If you have a few extra bucks this month and you like all my work, consider chipping in
What does EventHorizon do?
EventHorizon displays all of your class/spec's rotational abilities on a common time scale. This means that instead of seeing a regular percentage-based timer bar, EH shows you exactly what is happening in relation to everything else. If that sounds complicated at all, just look at the screenshots.
The basic idea: An ability that lasts 12 seconds and has 6 seconds remaining shouldn't look exactly the same as one that lasts 5 minutes and has 2.5 minutes remaining.
Videos showing EH in action:
Dezzimal posted a great instructional video using a Shadow Priest for reference.
breakingsong demonstrated EH on a Destro Warlock.
Also, for instant gratification, here's a quick snippet showing a Shadow Priest's rotation at 1 frame per second, using an older layout:
The big white line is the current time. Future events are on the right side, past events on the left. As time goes by, the events scroll from right to left.
The green bars are your cast bars. They use exactly the same times that your normal cast bar would display, with all haste modifiers applied.
You can also see cooldowns, DoTs, and their ticks (predicted in the future, and from the combat log in the past). EventHorizon is extremely intelligent when dealing with most things DoT/HoT-related.
The white lines that appear before the cast times are the times when you press the button (send the cast message to the server). The difference between this line and the start of the cast is your lag.
How do I set it up?
EventHorizon does not include an in-game configuration UI. However, it really doesn't need one - Everything should "just work".
Power users and those wishing to theme EventHorizon for a specific UI, please read on to the advanced portion of this section. Don't worry, it's easier than it may seem.
The basics:
* The window may be moved via the drag-handle on the upper right frame corner. It may be a little hard to see at first, but will light up as soon as you mouse over it.
* You can show/hide EventHorizon manually by using /eventhorizon or /ehz.
Advanced configuration:
Note: I would highly recommend an advanced text editor such as VS Code if you wish to edit the configuration files. While this isn't required by any means, an editor with syntax highlighting makes changing the files MUCH easier.
* The default configuration for EventHorizon is located in EventHorizon\config.lua. This file contains every setting available for EH and is heavily commented to help tweak things to your liking. This file may be deleted and EventHorizon will maintain its functionality (not that I would ever recommend doing that).
* Any changes you make to config.lua will be removed when you update EventHorizon. This is by design. HOWEVER, there's an easy way to get around that. Simply create a new file (or a copy of config.lua) named "myconfig.lua". This file is automatically loaded, and because it loads after config.lua, the settings in myconfig.lua will always be the ones to appear in-game.
Files
There are 2 files which you can edit to change the physical appearance of EventHorizon including colors, size, global functionality and other things. I'm going to assume that you have the most recent version of the configuration file provided in the most recent version of EventHorizon.
config.lua:
You can think of this as the default settings of EventHorizon. If you want to change settings then you can do so here, but when you download a new version of EventHorizon you have to be careful as the new version includes config.lua and will overwrite any changes you've made to this file. You can always skip this file when overwriting, but it's better to use myconfig.lua as it's intended to avoid this problem.
myconfig.lua:
This file overwrites any values in config.lua with the values changed inside it. So if you have config.width set to 375 in config.lua and config.width set to 200 in myconfig.lua, EventHorizon will use 200 as the value.
Where this is useful is that myconfig.lua is never included in the updated versions of EventHorzion, and as such will never be overwritten when downloading a new version of EventHorizon.
As such best practice is to alter any values you wish to change in config.lua by changing the values inside myconfig.lua.
Configuration
In order to change settings of something you just have to change the text after the equals sign on the line with the setting you want to change.
For example if you wanted to change the width of the addon you would change line 33 which normally reads (by default)
config.width = 375 -- Width of a single bar....
config.width = 200 -- Width of a single bar....
local EHN,ns = ... local config = EventHorizon.config local c = EventHorizon.colors local _,class = UnitClass('player') -- These locals make in-line conditions a little easier. See the color section for a few examples. local DK = class == "DEATHKNIGHT" local Druid = class == "DRUID" local Hunter = class == "HUNTER" local Mage = class == "MAGE" local Paladin = class == "PALADIN" local Priest = class == "PRIEST" local Rogue = class == "ROGUE" local Shaman = class == "SHAMAN" local Warlock = class == "WARLOCK" local Warrior = class == "WARRIOR" --[[ EDIT BELOW THIS LINE ]]--

So... PayPal and I aren't getting along lately, apparently. Something about a gift card that I tried attaching to my account a few months back red-flagged me, and it went from just blocking outgoing transactions (which is generally fine) to blocking absolutely everything (which is most definitely not). I'm not entirely sure when the complete block happened.
Until I can get all that resolved, I've gone ahead and switched my donation links over to my roommate's account. Don't mind the reference to Art Lizard Productions. |

Found the problem. The spell ID for the rank of Drain Life that EH watches was removed and returns nil. Use spellID 1120 and it should work fine.
Edit: Drain Soul and Drain Mana don't produce errors on my copy, so I'm assuming that they're fine as-is.

I didn't play around with it too much, but essentially I basically kept getting errors so long as there was any kind of drain in that bar's config.

Drain spells in the filler bar: I'm guessing the ticks are being removed on aura changes? I have a maintenance release planned for EH in the next day or two which should fix at least that.
Soul Burn bar: I should be able to figure something out for Axis. Don't think I could get it working in EH, though. On the bright side, Axis alphas should be soon - I have the core layout code pretty much finished, and I'll be rewriting the bar functions tonight and tomorrow. Edit: Couple notes on channeled spells, dots, and haste effects for Axis. The class config is receiving a LOT of really nice changes, but there's going to be a single glaring omission if you aren't aware of what's going on - There's no dot = <number> flag any longer. The haste flags and a few special-case flags (expectedTicks and custom CLEU entries are the first to come to mind) have also been removed. To explain: 1) Axis will detect periodic effects dynamically. When you cast a periodic spell for the first time, no ticks will show until the first occurs. The last known tick information will be stored in char-specific SavedVariables for future convenience. It's very likely that the dot flag won't be needed anymore. This applies to channeled spells as well, numticks = <number> is no longer used. 2) With most periodic effects being affected by haste, haste no longer decreasing [de]buff durations, and the above explanation in mind, the class config haste flags are no longer required. 3) Custom CLEU entries were only really used for healers, so healing-related combat log events are just tracked by default. However, custom combat log-related functions may be supported at a later date - It wouldn't be difficult at all to write in if there's demand for it. The EH maintenance release will include some new default coloring (nothing severe, just a tint on certain colors to differentiate them) and will make channeled spells play nice with buffs and debuffs.

I'll try work on an EH Warlock profile tonight, and send you what I come up with.
*At the moment* affli locks use drain life as filler on cataclysm beta, however Blizzard has stated on several occasions that they want shadow bolt to remain affliction's PVE filler. So I'll stick to that. [edit] Seems that the drain spells in the filler bar are breaking things for locks, I added a couple of bars and removed some, I currently have not accounted for improved soulfire / burning embers. I've sent the config to Taroven, however 1 quick question: Is it possible to add something to the soul burn bar that makes it visible when you've spent all your soul burns? Like a faded gray similar to what debuff=true spells get?

Apologies for the lack of Axis progress updates lately. Work and friends have been demanding entirely too much attention.
I'll release some Cataclysm class configs as soon as possible, just keep in mind that it's a ton of work on my end - You may have better luck writing your own, especially with me trying to ramp up my efforts in getting Axis into shape. As long as I can keep myself on track, I should have an Axis public alpha out within the next couple of weeks. There's a gargantuan amount of changes that still need to be made to the core code before anything is at all usable, but progress is being made. The big notes to make: * Axis will be tailored for Cataclysm. I'll release a set of WotLK class configs for interim usage, though EventHorizon may be preferable on live realms. * EventHorizon [my]config files will not work with Axis, though they should be easy to adapt in most cases. * Axis will retain the Lua-based configuration that has been EH's blessing and curse. Fortunately for those not inclined to edit files, a GUI config will be included once there's less work to be done on the core code. Some notes on that: * The GUI will be able to default settings to either your [my]config file or Axis's defaults.* Random class config notes: * Because the class config now uses a table structure, myconfig files will be a lot more reliable and far easier to create and use. There's a lot more that I've failed to mention. Stay tuned for next time. |

Just got a chance to check EH in Cata. It works on my Warrior, after remembering that I haven't thrown Sharedmedia into my addons directory.
A class config update is most definitely needed, but aside from that it seems to work just fine. As Fury, I'm getting stance-appropriate bars with working timers and stack info. If you're having issues getting the frame to show, run through the following list: 1) Make sure out-of-date addons are enabled. 2) Rename your myconfig or remove references to textures/fonts that are loaded by other addons. Move those textures over to the EH directory and load them from there if you like. 3) Turn on Lua error reporting, it's off by default (lame, for a beta). If you get errors about UnitBuff/UnitDebuff, you need to find current spellIDs - Spells are checked by name, if they're not found by the game they will provoke errors (spellname returning as nil, which has side effects in droves) and possibly halt EH's init process. Looks like Blizzard used the rank 1 spellIDs for the most part when they converted everything to single ranks, otherwise just check Wowhead and change things as necessary. It may just be my local copy that works, though. Let me know either way. |

It seems Eventhorizon is entirely broken on beta, I can not get it to show up at all. I was going to make myself a custom warlock profile

Re: moving and resizing?
There's a drag handle at the top-right corner of EH. It'll light up when you mouse over it, just drag it wherever you want. |

I'm not quite inclined to change this at the moment, but we'll see for the Axis release. |
