WeightsWatcher gives you an easy to use way to compare gear based on the actual stats, not just the item level.
Currently, all base stats, gems in non-crafted sockets, and enchants should be handled properly. Also, gems are suggested based on the weights you have enabled. Note that crafted sockets and other "stacking" enchants are not currently handled, because they are not detectable through the WoW API.
All weights can be changed as you see fit, and you can create and enable as many or as few as you would like.
The default stat weights are provided by AskMrRobot.com, with their consent. Everything else the mod does is of our own creation, and does not use the AskMrRobot.com optimization formulas.
Endgame players will probably want to create hit- and/or expertise- capped weights, which is easily done by copying an existing weight and setting the appropriate values to 0.

Version 1.5r1 Released
Hey, folks. It's been a long time coming, but 1.5r1 is now released. The major change is that WeightsWatcher now supports enchants. See the change log for details, and please feel free to ask questions here.

Those numbers will work with WeightsWatcher. You can put them in using /ww weights. You will need to make sure that you either zero or change any stats that already have values but are not in the EJ weight (or just start with an empty weight).
WeightsWatcher automatically normalizes the values (by default -- you can turn it off if you prefer in /ww config), so you should get the same results with the same ratios between the stats, regardless of the actual values.

I just tried your mod last night and while I really like the idea behind it, and think it could be very useful, I believe I may need some clarification in one respect.
I use the weights as given in the forums on elitistjerks.com and it would appear that some form of conversion needs to be done to use those weights with your mod. If you could give me some idea how I could convert the weights it would go a long way toward making your mod more useful to me. Below is an example of the weights I am using. [iLvl 359 - Frost DK 2 Hander Spec] Strength: 2.28 Hit: 0.99 Expertise: 0.94 Mastery: 0.80 Haste: 0.84 Crit: 0.60 Attack Power: 0.74 |

Re: Version 1.4r10 Released
Fixes some issues with the weights window when deleting weights. Please let me know if you find any more issues with this (or the weights window in general).

Version 1.4r14 Released
The only change is new weights from Wowhead. You will need to restore the default weights to see the changes.

That usually means your weights should be adjusted. As I've stated before, I am not a theorycrafter and do not generate the default weights myself, but instead rely on Wowhead's weights for each spec. I encourage you to change them to suit your needs, especially for non-endgame or non-PVE characters. In this case, giving attack power, critical strike rating, and/or weapon dps a non-zero weight would probably be more accurate.
The default weights for protection paladins are as follows (stats present on those items only): Stamina - 100 All others - 0 There is a stamina increase, so the computation itself is valid. You can use /ww weights in-game to adjust your weights as you see fit. EDIT: It seems Wowhead has new weights for several specs. I'll upload a new version shortly, but I don't think they will change the result in this particular case.

I think that you may want to rethink how this addon computes weights. With the default settings, I got this result while trying to figure out what gear to use:

Version 1.4r10 Released
(1.4r10) Fixed a nil error in /ww version and added the new Cataclysm meta gems.
EDIT: uploaded version 1.4r11, which also fixes Ebonsteel belt buckle parsing. EDIT AGAIN: uploaded version 1.4r12, which also adds localization strings for the new gems. This is why you don't upload new versions when you're tired and have a fever. The good news is you should've just gotten warning messages, with things still working. As always, feedback of any sort is welcomed. Post it here, send me a PM, or e-mail [email protected]. Thanks!

I'm glad to hear I fixed the earlier issue. As far as hard crashes go, I've never experienced one due to WW, but of course I won't claim that means no one could. I've also never experienced that particular error before, with any addon. I don't think it's possible, but I'll be sure to watch WW's resource usage.
I have run into issues with another addon where the saved data would pass a limit and be deleted the next time the game loaded. This was with the full item text of nearly every item in the game, though. If you can give me an instance or two that the crash occurred in, and what difficulty level, I'll try to run those and see if I can make anything happen. Unfortunately, unless I can reproduce it or other people report it, there's not much I can do beyond that. Finally: what are your system specs (CPU, ram, and graphics ram)? I'd be surprised if they're lower than mine, but I don't want to rule anything out prematurely. Thanks for the feedback!

Sorry for the delay in replying; haven't been using this as often as have wanted to lately (see below).
Yes, no further issues with 1.4r8 and nice job getting rid of Ace2. Onto trying 1.4v9. One thing, though. Prior to the WoW 4.0.6 patch last week, I was occasionally getting the dreaded This application has encountered a critical error: Not enough storage is available to process this command crash to desktop mousing over items/the default Blizzard loot frame/etc. in raids & 5-mans. In addition to this mod, was also running other tooltip info mods: Pawn, StatScore, RhadaTip, Mendeleev & RatingsBuster. After reaching the end of my tolerance for hard crashes (it crashed when in about 1/3 of my instances), I disabled WeightsWatcher, Pawn, StatScore & RhadaTip on level 85 raiding characters. Left the other two active (as have been using them for literally years with no issues). Sure enough, in another two weeks of use (prior to WoW 4.0.6), no further instance crashes. Hard crashes are the one thing I refuse to help debug. WeightsWatcher was only one of four potential mod causes of the crashes, though. And the issue might (or might not) be totally resolved in 4.0.6. Something to look at and/or verify here that there is no function this mod does that can cause that error, though. Would like to re-enable the mod on raid/instance characters.

I'm still unable to reproduce the error, but I did manage to remove Ace entirely and have now uploaded 1.4r8. It was actually even easier than I thought it would be.
Please let me know if this fixes the issue, and thank you for the details.

Disabled Automaton and the error still repeats on the next logon, but it contains a different Ace2 addon am using on that test/bank alt character (Fence): Code:
["message"] = "WeightsWatcher-1.4r7\\WeightsWatcher.lua:285: AceHook-2.1: \"SetHyperlink\" already has an active hook from this source.\nAceAddon-2.0-91100 (Fence):979: in function <...face\\AddOns\\Fence\\Libs\\AceAddon-2.0\\AceAddon-2.0.lua:973>\n<in C code>: ?\nAceEvent-2.0-91097 (Fence):260: in function `TriggerEvent'\nAceEvent-2.0-91097 (Fence):910: in function <...face\\AddOns\\Fence\\Libs\\AceEvent-2.0\\AceEvent-2.0.lua:903>\n\n ---", ["type"] = "error", ["session"] = 1419, ["counter"] = 1, }, -- [1000] The character: a level 13 Rogue with a couple points in the Subtlety tree. |

After an admittedly quick look, I'm not sure what could be causing that in r7. Did you use r6 at all, and did the error show up there?
Also, do you get the error message if you disable Automaton? It looks like there's some weirdness going on there. If disabling Automaton doesn't help, give me the class and spec of that toon and I'll look into it. I'm actually planning on removing Ace entirely some time soon-ish. I'm only really using the hook functionality at this point, and I have learned enough since I first decided to go with Ace that I'm pretty sure I would be happier owning all the code I use. I may bump that up in priority. I'll dig into this more after work. Thanks for the report!
