Curse
BTW - did the switch to Curse not happen in the end?
I still don't see it listed there.

Re: Re: Eureka !
Btw I really like what Zork did with the Diablo theme. Graphically speaking, I am very nostalgic when it comes to the default, Roth, and Spartan hehe.

Re: Eureka !
That is EXACTLY why I wanted to create the theme engine. I AM going to be creating a theme that will use the Blizzard artists colors, textures and general vision. Essentially I want to re-create the default UI in a way that stays true to the game itself but uses all of the frame concepts that addon users have grown accustomed to. I have already started to sketch and paint some of these art files. Hopefully I can get a mockup put together in the next week to show you and see what you think. |

Eureka !
I think you made some excellent decisions in making it more modular Mung. Even Carbonite just did this and again...VERY good lol. I see nothing wrong with your title either atm ModKit. It fits and it makes sense. It is what it is afterall. If you decide to name it anything different it shouldn't be for any other reason than just at your whim so to speak lol. I was fine with your "addons" in the UI in general (other than I do use xCT+). I think I already posted an example of your UI that I modified using different states on the bars and frames (basically like RealUI). I LOVE the idea of adding the theme engine!!! This is something I could work on hehe. I would suggest even a WoW theme, meaning keeping it as close to original art as possible but with your customizations. I could see a lot of peeps digging that for those who still like the "original" look
I'm already thinking of themes that I would like to try myself hehe

wow.. LOL. Dont really have much to say other than that. I only hope it is as lightweight or better than svui. Now how to forget about it for a good period of time until its launch is closer :P Im totally enthralled since discovering the UI and thats like.. svui on steroids basically. As for a name, heh good luck. SuperHero UI as i mentioned before :P EDIT - dont forget to pay special attention to the scaling features!! (perhaps higher res textures ftw for us pc freaks :P)

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee modular UI! Very cool! With the new themes, does that mean you're gonna be making even more art assets for us? A sorcery/engineer/brawler themes sound really cool, I'd love to see those in your style. It'll also be cool because people will be able to make their own themes to distribute too!
Re: kit names, I say including the word Supervillain is still gonna be the best (SVkit? Superkit?). People already abbreviate it and are familiar with the /sv command. Any sort of timeline we can expect to see beta roll out, or is it still deep in development? |

Phew!!
Good to know that SVUI is not actually disappearing - just evolving!
All sounds good Mung! Particularly like the idea of alternate artwork themes. Looking forward to what is to come...

Hey Daigan, remember all those times when I told you I was making certain changes for a specific reason that would eventually reveal itself? This is it!
Ok so here we go.... ModKit (name pending) is the new UI project. Here are a few key points explaining several aspects of this concept which will hopefully relieve any panic I may have caused recently... > ModKit, at it's core level, is really SVUI. The major difference is that on it's own (ie... the core files) it has "NO FANCY STYLING"!. > ModKit provides all the important features of SVUI as it's baseline framework, but it gives you the true ability to install and use ONLY THE ELEMENTS YOU WANT. > To give you a better idea of what I am talking about let me show you the addon folder list... The REQUIRED addons Code:
ModKit_!Core ModKit_!Options Code:
ModKit_ActionBars ModKit_Auras ModKit_Chat ModKit_Inventory ModKit_Maps ModKit_NamePlates ModKit_QuestTracker ModKit_Tooltip ModKit_UnitFrames ModKit_Skins > These features by themselves are actually nothing new, several other UI's out there are handled this same way. What makes ModKit different will be the theme engine. The Theme addons Code:
SuperVillain_Theme *example*Sorcery_Theme *example*Brawler_Theme *example*Engineering_Theme > Basically I am driving towards extreme customization while still keeping the total footprint as small as possible. FYI: With all of ModKit installed and enabled, and while using the SuperVillain_Theme, you end up with SVUI in it's entirety. So for anyone that thought SVUI was going to vanish or become unrecognizable... you were wrong Now for some NEW stuff.... > FEATURE: Profiles will now be saved in the GLOBAL space, no longer requiring you to SAVE a profile before it becomes available to your other characters > FEATURE: The ability to have more than 6 actionbars > FEATURE: Conditional (Combat/Target/Misc) hiding/showing of actionbars and docks. > FEATURE: Having all of the "Interface" directory artwork will no longer be required. Skins have been upgraded to handle much much more and the only need for overwriting the Interface and Fonts folders will be for those who want their login screen to remain styled. > ARTWORK: There will be several OPTIONAL art/font packs you can download should you choose to convert the last few pieces of you UI to match your chosen theme. > PLUGIN: Proc/Cooldown watch/alert for auras > PLUGIN: The long awaited return of SNACKS! (aka.. the Vending Machine) > PLUGIN: Combat text! (not unlike xCT+) More details to come......

Pretty soon I am going to go into some detail of what's coming. I also may be looking for suggestions to the name of the new framework (ModKit was only meant to be temporary)
