Smaller Blizzard Raid Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v1.2.2
by: Morsker [More]

I'll still MAINTAIN this, but addition of new features will be sporadic, as I'm doing more work on other things now. Please let me know if you'd like to contribute improvements!

Makes the Blizzard raid frames half their normal size, while scaling up names, buffs, and icons to keep them readable.

- /sbrf for options.

- Can fill hp vertically, in addition to horizontally.

- Optionally center names.

- Optionally move or hide buffs, debuffs, and dispellable debuffs.

- Options for frame height and width are still in Blizzard's Interface Options / Raid Frames.

- The mod is pretty tiny. Most of what you see in the file size is the config UI which only loads when requested.

Credits

The inspiration for this came from a forum post by Shamanbrian, with macros to manipulate the Blizzard size sliders to lower values. Also Dridzt was working on something similar, and explained taint issues to me. Unfortunately all of these implementations cause taint. The current implementation is different and in some ways limited, but doesn't cause taint.

v1.2.2
- Bug fix.

v1.2.1
- Updated for patch 4.1.
- When used as party frames, the raid frames no longer have a separate, slightly larger size. This is due to 4.1 changes. Please comment if you missed that feature and want it back.

v1.2
- /sbrf for new config UI
- heal prediction bars should work better
- some bug fixes with MA target and MT target frames

v1.1.2
- option for vertical hp bars
- option to un-center names
- party frames are also scaled down, but not quite as much as raid frames
- you can use the Blizzard resize sliders again
- the Blizzard unlock and drag thing should work better

v1.1.1
- Better resizing of debuffs, and moved to top-left

v1.1
- New implementation, no taint

v1.0
- First version

If you figure out how to make HP vertical, I'll sell you my sister.

Probably a few things that you aren't able to do, is there a way to anchor the debuffs to appear from right to left? Also is there a way to start filtering out stuff that isn't useful, like Sated, Weakened Soul, etc?

I got them looking pretty good... (ignore that theres 40 people, in 25man they will be aligned with my panels)

Well if you enable the raid frames for party as well wouldn't they work? I like the extended resizing a lot personally, & I hope you keep this going.

I don't know if it would be "blizz raid frames" if there were options to filter buffs, debuffs unless you add blacklist/whitelist features like Shadowed or Pitbull does. Guessing this won't be a simple 16kb project then :P

Anyways I was able to resize height, width and move to screen corner I wanted as well easily enough. Thank you for taking this project on and making the new stock frames more manageable.

I would request adding in Blizz raid icons support, since most boss mods use them to tag people that we may need to react to quickly. Or is this something Blizz is supposed to be doing and have been slacking on?

The main things I want in the next version are fixing the Blizzard unlock and resize sliders to work right, and an option for vertical hp bars. I figured out how to do the vertical hp already, but I need to test that the "overheal prediction" bars also work.

After that, I want you to be able to choose whether to center and truncate the name, and choose where to anchor the debuffs, but I need more of a config UI for that.

Filtering isn't something I see an easy way to do yet.

edit: Oh, party frames. I've actually done zero 5-mans since 4.0; just been too busy. But I'll look into that as soon as I can.

Party frames and vertical hp should work now, and the Blizzard size sliders are back so you can make them rectangles if you want.

i was just interested in the resizing, do you intend to have the simple resize as one addon and all the fluff in another?

The configuration will be in a separate UI that loads on demand, and I won't implement anything that has significant overhead if you aren't using it. The mod has to resize and move names and debuffs to be usable anyway, because otherwise they're unreadable at 50% scale, so it doesn't add overhead to let the user choose how it does this. I think centering and vertical hp are important features, because any user who makes them squares will want this; resizing would be incomplete without these features. I'm not going to add random features that have nothing to do with resizing the frames though.

edit: Oh, were you talking about just the very first version 1.0, that did nothing but expand the Blizzard range sliders? You can just use version v1.0 forever if that's all you wanted from it; it should never need an update. If more users want that I can make a separate project for it so it's easier to find. But it causes taint, and the macros it was based on cause taint, which is what Dridzt discovered.

Love the concept since the smallest Bliz are still too big for my taste.

With this addon installed, no matter how big or small I make the boxes, the tank target (and target of target) lose their text 90% of the time. If I click the checkbox controlling "Display Main Tank and Main Assist" on and off repeatedly every so often i'll see the text on one of the tank's targets. I turned off the addon and it's working now.

Also, I'm noticing some graphical glitches with the addon turned on. I have the boxes rectangular (about the same shape as without the mod - just scaled smaller) and am seeing the borders being drawn off into space to the right of the raid boxes (like almost another column over). Wish I had taken a screenshot.

Thanks for these bug reports. I've actually never tried it with borders; they were the first Blizzard option I shut off. I'll have to remember to do tests with borders from now on.

I do test the MA and MT boxes and don't run into problems with them. I'll try it in a larger raid though and see if I can reproduce it.

Well actually, I have borders turned off too, but I do have the agro borders turned on (I'm a tank) so maybe it's related to those? Or maybe it's related to unlocking, reshaping, and relocking the raid frame?

On that subject. If I click the slideout raid control panel, click unlock, resize the grid, then click lock, when I then slide the raid control panel back in, the raid window is locked where it was (about 2 inches from the left edge). Without the addon installed when I slide the panel in the raid grid slides back to the left with the panel.

I've run into delays on this and won't have it this weekend. The next version is still going to have the configuration for transparency and moving buffs though.
