shNameplates  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r9.2

shNameplates
A light-weight and beautiful nameplate addon that works right out of the box!

Why use this addon instead of some of the other famous nameplates? Simple: elegance, ease of use, and efficiency. Other addons similar to shNameplates are extremely "busy" or they are too plain. In some cases, they are highly inefficient when it comes to coding.
  • Unit Name
  • Raid Icon
  • Unit Level (using blizzard code to add difficulty coloring)
  • PvE coloring (blizzard based) and PvP coloring (class colored based)
  • Aggro and threat color (with glow overlay)
  • Castbar, Cast Time, and Spell Icon
  • Health Text Display (using color gradient for percentage)
  • Auto toggle on and off when in or out of combat (user set via config.lua)
  • Lots of config attributes that handle nameplate behavior, colors, fonts, and positioning (user set via config.lua)
  • Configuration that allows repositioning of the spell and raid icons (user set via config.lua)
  • Configuration option for TANKMODE (green coloring on aggro) and namecoloring (colors pvp enemy names with their class color) (user set via config.lua - PLEASE see changelog for more details)
  • Target cast spell names (for both channeled and cast)
  • Mouse over highlighting
  • Cool new fade in effects when nameplates appear
  • Target Unit POWER bar under health frame. SET TO ONLY IN PVP (b/c who cares about mob power at this point in the game)
  • COMBO points for feral and rogues...AND addition of showing Chi, burning embers, soul shards, holy power, burning embers, etc. (SELF buffs ony)
  • Now works with Icicle and/or Plate Buffs

NOTE: I want to thank the following authors: Caelian, Tekkub, Luzz, and Rothar. Especially Caelian, b/c I have based this addon to his famous addon caelNameplates

What do you mean by text? You mean like the name of the spell?

Since the bulk of the code manipulates the blizzard code, that is also something that would entail adding extra "bulky" code. I can't think of any other way to hide certain nameplates and not others. For example, you are in a room with an elite and 5 non elites, you can't hide just one nameplate and not the rest. Sorry bud.

Can you explain your problem a bit more specifically and detailed? From what I read, it seems REALLY REALLY weird.
I put the shNameplates into the AddOns folder... run WoW... in addons window shnameplates is checked... "load out of date.." is chcecked too...
But after entering the game and switching the nameplates to visible (default "V") the nameplates I get are the default blizzard ones... I tried other nameplate adons and they worked just ok... thjis is the only one Im having trouble with... and the worst is that your nameplates are the best ones ^^ ( )

@gregory: What do you mean by border? Like the transparent glow area?

@Maxen: Thanks bud, I hope you love them!

@unstoppixel: Heheh, I understand the function you are looking for, however I am not going to be able to write the code to do that without going against my entire idea of keeping it minimalistic. Just use a target of target frame

Smile Green, Blue, Red!

One of the things I always loved about TidyPlates is that not only does it let you know if you have aggro via the color, it lets you know if another tank in the raid has aggro instead. Like green if you have aggro, blue if another tank has aggro, and red if a dps/heals has aggro. That way you know if you need to taunt or not.

I am not sure why this is happening. It is actually quite mind blowing. Do me a favor. Disable all your other addons except shNameplates. Make sure that it is checked and "Load All Out of date Addons" is also checked. Let me know if it works.
Nope. The default Blizz nameplate is still showing looks like it supporst only 4+.. or maybe there is some problem with my client .. Too bad... the best nameplates Ive seen and not working for me .

Anyway freat work on the addon

Is this a 4.x.x. only mod?

If not , can anyone help fixing it? thx

Does Classcolor only works in PVP? need it in PVE too how can i do it by myself? or can you make an option in config.lua to turn on/off Classcolor in PVE?
Since I am using the blizzard code, I have it only working for PVP now. Recoding it for PVE might be a bit tricky. Something to think about though. I'm sorry.

@shaggy7: I will do some error testing today to see what is causing that problem for you.

I hope this is an option you can enable/disable user side.

Because I am a tank, and I am so used to the way the mod currently performs (and mods of similar nature), that I want nothing do with the the reverse, lol.

Would completely throw me off. Always read it as red = Angry at me.

Love this mod, exactly what i want in a name plate mod. So hopefully thats just a user setting.
Absolutely, I am actually almost done testing this. I made another option called "tankmode" that you can set to true or false. If it is true it will change the aggro coloring, etc. but if it is set to false, it is just normal Should be out tonight or tomorrow.
